Tactics

I was looking for the BXR tactic, and I came across a few tips from GainedTheLead.com:

1. Face the front of a Ghost. Now move to the right side of the machine where you will find a circular "power source". Just a few shots with any weapon will bring the Ghost down when hitting this weak spot. One shot from a Sniper Rifle will blow the Ghost apart.

2. When approaching someone who has the Energy Sword, wait until right before you think they will lunge at you - and then duck. Very often the attacking player will lunge right over top of you. If you are swordless, this will give you a chance to turn around and finish your shooting. If you also have an Energy Sword, remain ducked as the person lunges at you and then press the right trigger button and lunge at the opponent. This should increase your success.

3. Surround sound speakers are a notable advantage when playing Halo 2. You will actually hear explosions, gunfire and even footsteps from the direction that they are taking place. Imagine the advantage of suddenly being shot and hearing the direction the shot came from. Imagine hearing the boom of a sniper rifle and knowing the general direction from which the shot was fired. Imagine your fear as you hear the sudden twang of a energy sword unsheathed directly behind you...

I didn't know that you could kill the Ghost so easily if you knew where to attack it. Also, I didn't realize surround sound could be so clutch! Man, when I move out, get a monster TV wtih surround sound, I'm going to fucking own everyone! ;)

Thats so cool. I have heard of the surround sound and sword, but had no idea about the ghost. I usually just shot at the head with a BR and take them out, or i sticky it. Im going to try it out in a few days when im home.

The ghost thing is true. I thought I already told everyone about that. 3 burst with a BR to that cell will destroy the ghost.

Stop trying to take the credit

Why do you think I love playing at my parents' house?

Willkillforfood 2006-03-29 10:21 PM

Overrated! If you are twitchy enough you cover all directions anyways :D. Who needs sound? ;) A luxury! :o

JRwakebord 2006-03-29 10:23 PM

But knowing the direction of the sound before you turn can give you that crucial half-second.

Titusfied 2006-03-30 06:57 AM

Sure can. Oh, and Glory, do you mean just a single 3-bullet burst from the BR will take it out, or three 3-bullet bursts?

glory_gamer 2006-03-31 06:18 PM

3 3burst shots with the BR

sue_13 2006-04-03 01:51 AM

I think it only takes one direct 3 shot burst to that cell if i'm not mistaken. Three seems like too many to me if I recall correctly.

JRwakebord 2006-04-03 01:57 AM

We had some guy show us the other night. One 3-round burst from the BR can destroy the Ghost if you hit it in exactly the right spot.

gruesomeBODY 2006-04-03 07:53 AM

That was the coolest thing i have ever seen. But the target is so small that it just doesnt matter.

glory_gamer 2006-04-03 12:43 PM

I like doing it with the sniper rifle. that or getting a head shot.

Titusfied 2006-04-04 09:30 AM

Yeah, and not too many SMG bullets take it out either. I've found it's pretty fucking hard to hit the tank on the money shot though.. I've yet to do it properly in a real game battle.. AKA, no noobs have been ridings ghosts around in the games I've been playing.

gruesomeBODY 2006-04-04 12:52 PM

yea i was playing a custom game with some guy the other day and he pulled it off, but not on purpose. he was shotting my teammate and he got hit by a granade adn his reticle moved over the gas tank. It was awesome to watch because all you here is "what the ......." and then the guy who was shooting go. what did i do

kenpo sensei 2006-04-05 12:57 PM

Good info, I need to try this and see how well it works. I finally got back on.

GutterMind 2006-04-05 08:42 PM

Back on after what? Did you fall off the wagon?
