Should I get it?

I've been thinking about it lately, and I really can't decide whether or not I want to get it. I played WoW before and loved it, but from what I hear about this game the world is "instanced" where when you go out and fight stuff you're either by yourself or in a party. That is one thing that is kinda keeping me away from this game.

Also, this game is free to play, correct? I've heard that you just pay for the software and then you can play on their servers for free. That definately sounds better than the $72.94 every 6 months I was paying to play WoW.

Another thing, will my computer be able to run it? I ran WoW fine as long as I didn't keep it on really high quality or anything.

Vote now, and give me good reasons, and you might see the King of the Amazons playing on Guild Wars sometime soon!

-If it's able to run WoW it will run GW.
-If you like PVP this is your game.
-It takes actual skill to become good in this game.
-The balancing between classes is the best I've seen in any other RPG so far.
-No monthly fee.
-Instanced zones arent that bad, it just adds another difficulty for your team, because if everyone dies in a mission, you fail and return to the outpost where you can meet up with others or just try again.

Hell ya man, I love the PvP even more then UO pvp back in the day. The graphics rock and run smoothly and the way everything is instanced turned me off at first, but you will understand in due time that it rocks.

i definetly say no, DO NOT get gw, IMO worst game ive played. The pvp sucks, altough diablo was almost all BM dueling, it was far superior then gw's, theres no time to talk shit when you completely own something

you cant make a completely godly character, @ lvl 20 (highest lvl get there in 15min) you can go back to ascalon (1st area you start) and still die. Unlike diablo, if you even have a 1/2 decent character you go to a1 norm, ha gl dieing (it would take skill to die)

but yea, i say no...if i could go back and change when i bought it i would without a 2nd guess

!King_Amazon! 2005-09-17 07:59 AM

Just about everything you said you don't like about the game is what I like about MMOs. They AREN'T diablo, and that wins in my book.

!King_Amazon! 2005-09-17 08:00 AM

Lenny, post a fucking response. Glory Gamer too but I don't really care about you.

Come on guys, sell this game to me.

C3Fable 2005-09-17 08:03 AM

u like the fact that you cant become some godly fool that every1 is afraid of? or the fact that when you own some faggot that thinks hes the pimp diggity you cant tell him whos boss now? man...i most be lost but that theory makes me feel good inside

!King_Amazon! 2005-09-17 08:11 AM

No, I like the fact that you actually have to work and use skill to become some godly fool that everyone is afraid of. Not everyone can own at MMOs. I happened to own a lot on WoW, but only because I worked hard at it, and it was a lot more rewarding when I would own everyone.

C3Fable 2005-09-17 08:19 AM

no i agree, you should have to work on becoming godly, just like diablo enigma's fort's, and coh's and alll the others dont just fall from the sky. you have to build ur character mf for years, then trade for decades, so when you finally get tere you are pretty proud of yourself...i had good stuff on gw, i had great stuff, but still it just wasnt as awesome as some portrayed it to be.

I like games where everyone is on a somewhat level playing field, I hate there being 'Godly' characters that had the good fortune of finding some super ultra rare godly item that makes them godly... Guild Wars is all about skill just like UO was back in the day, and that alone is what sold me.

C3Fable 2005-09-17 08:24 AM

remind me again what UO is...and yea thats true having a lvl playing field would be nice, but that would be communism and president bush dont like that

Sum Yung Guy 2005-09-17 08:57 AM

Ultima Online, it wasnt that hard to max your character, in pvp it was all about how you used what skills you had.

If that's the case with you, then by god, you must be absolutely shite at this!

At lvl 20 you can go out into Ascalon and wipe the whole place clean! Fight for an hour and you'll be stuck for enemies to fight as they've all been killed!

Response, right...sorry.

This game is great. It's the first MMORPG that I've played and I'm absolutely loving it. There are so many possibilities with characters that anyone who plays it will have a different gaming experience to the next guy. If you're computer can support them, then the graphics are fucking amazing!

I can't compare it to any other game as I haven't played any other game online. The one thing I can say is "BUY THIS GAME!". You'll love it.

Dar_Win 2005-09-18 12:02 PM

I have been thinking about getting this game to. I think I might do it, because I hear its better than WoW from some people. I also really liked UO so I guess it kinda is in the same catagory from what I hear.

Also, is there anything else i need to get if i buy it? Like how D2 has the expansion but you also need the normal D2 discs before you can install expansion.

undeadzombieguy 2005-09-18 12:31 PM

Nope, just buy the game and your set to play.

Lenny 2005-09-18 12:34 PM

Alternatively you can download the game client from the Guild Wars site and buy an account key from them.

Dar_Win 2005-09-18 12:37 PM

Nice, I think im about to hop in my car and go get it now. I hope there are no monthly fees (dunno if somone already said there are or not, didnt read the entire thread).
Will it play ok with
- 2.20 GHZ Penntium 4
- 256 RAM
- 15 GIG HD space empty
My questioning is mainly with the RAM, I plan on upgrading to 512 or 1 Gig. Will it be ok with 256 for a week or two?

Lenny 2005-09-18 12:38 PM

No monthly fees.

Have you got a graphics card?

I think it needs a 32mb graphics card thingy.

Other than that, you should be able to play it fine.
