I might go for another video card though, maybe a 128 MB 9800+? |
I will accept nothing under an Athlon 64. The performance dropoff from an AXP is depressing.
But why make it at this craptastic site? It's cheaper to construct. |
Quote:
I always construct my own PC's, gets you a top PC for only ~900 euro :D |
Personally, I'd prefer the extra video memory, which is why I made the selections I did.
|
|
I dont know how to put the thigns together, are they all plug and play?
If I were to buy part per part, what would I need? and what is the best place to get these things at lowest price? Make a list of things I'll need and the best one that I can get but keep under the budget? ex: AMD athlon 64 2800 - price |
Mantra Cheapo Recommendation:

Uh huh, 400 watts of power until it blows 5 minutes later because it's a shitty Codegen power supply recommended by someone who doesn't know shit about anything, as shown by his sig. What, did mommy get you your celeron Dell for your birthday?

Lets not go astray...
mantralord, can you make a post like proxy did but with your recommendations ( giving links etc) also Im looking for an athlon 64, not XP (rememebr its a gaming pc) Any more recomendations are welcome, I have $300 so far (yes i finally have some money!!) but I will ahve the rest in about 2 weeks. Im thinking of just buying from cyberpower because I do not know how to put all the thigns together once i have them, plus the shipping charges for every little thing will add up to too much. |
I had a friend who puts his own together and bought all his parts from online companys, it was the bomb for a few months and then things started going wrong, cause he didn't know what he was doing, plus no warrentys...
|
im leaning toward WW's config, just change the processor to athlon 64 2800 and it'll be set at around $614........oh god + shipping =( gonna be like $700
Which MOBO is better? (939-pin Socket) GigaByte GA-K8NS-939 nForce3 Ultra Chipset AGP8X w/LAN,USB2,&Audio or (939-pin Socket) GigaByte GA-K8NS ULTRA-939 nForce3 Chipset AGP8X w/LAN,USB2,IEEE,&Audio they seem to be the same, yet the one on top is 20 bucks cheaper? |
The video card I recommended is faster than a 9600xt.
And all those things are on newegg, just look for them. |

The one on the bottom has firewire.

Let me ask you something. What are your temps? By the way. Nice timing on that RAM there, not to mention the mobo is still agp 8x. I decided to build one under 500 or so so he had money for upgrading to a 64 bit computer. And it could have pcie 16x and he could still use the memory I put in. What is yours? Socket 754? To my knowledge there is no socket 754 mobo with pcie 16x. So if he did want to go that route he would have to buy a new mobo as well. I guess I am a newbie. Sorry. |
