I'm playing it right now. I like the Italian style of GTA better, but who knows, maybe this gangsta thug plot will win me over. I like the overall options a lot better in this game, but this is the first one I've played on PS2, so I'm not quite adjusted to the controller yet. XBox functionality is much better for this type of game, but I'm still happy with my experience so far.

I love it, the weapon skills and stats are a great addition, as are the gang wars and territories.
It makes it really hard, which is the exact reason I love it. I gotta start shooting more shit so I can get my skills higher.. ;)
Just wait till you get to gang wars, if you haven't already. You start by going to a neighboring territory of another gang, and taking out a group of them...after awhile you'll start a war by doing this and a wave of that gang will come at you with bats, after you take them out you've got more coming, this time with pistols. After you finish them off they come at you with automatic weapons. Shit is tough.
Interesting side note, I got my pistol skill all the way up, and it allows you to hold two at once, instead of the regular single pistol. Quite useful. |
I also heard that you can teach the character how to box as well as that the character has to eat too...I so fucking want this game >.<

Yeah, on my furthest file (the one i used cheats on which i don't really use anymore) I have muscle maxed, stamina almost maxed, several houses bought and a few weapons mastered. As well as quite a few missions done.
So what they said is true...you can work the character out and build him up...but is it true that you can learn boxing and that your character has to eat?
Bingo, at a certain muscle level, trainers will allow you to learn new hand to hand combat moves. Which moves you learn vary depending on what trainer you go to. Yes, you have to eat as well. Eating is the easiest way to restore health ($10 for about half a health bar). Not eating everyday causes you to lose some of your health, and if you don't eat for long enough you'll die. You can also buy clothes, accesories like watches, chains, and shades, change your hair, and get tattoes.
There is also a stat called "respect". As you gain more respect, fellow members of your gang will help you out should you get in trouble, and you can even recruit a few of them to follow you around. There's businesses like in VC as well. |
that's awesome! what other hand-to-hand styles can you learn?
Not sure, but the manual kind of hints at martial arts. Right now I'm only far enough to know boxing.
that's awesome though...anything else that's new?
It's good. Graphics are sweet, lots of new stuff and the skill type shit is kool too. I only found it boring cuz it was just me and friends running around and blowing shit up. We've done that in the other ones
