The Difference?

I am probably one of the least technologically intelligent people on this earth. So I was wondering.

Why are cartridges going? Why do CDs have more capabilites than cartridges?

If I have not spelled some things correctly, oh frickin' well.

Cartridges are bulky. Optical technology is superior.

Smaller seems to be better... They're also a lot easier to store.

Carts are more expensive and the storage space is extremely limited. The only genuine advantages to a cartridge-based game format are the complete lack of load times and the fact that it's a lot harder to accidentally destroy a cartridge than it is to break a CD.

Because cartridges are flash based instead of any sort of actual storage. Think your mp3 player... but smaller :)
