Games: Resident Evil Outbreak

Title: Resident Evil Outbreak
Developer/Distributor: Capcom
Platform: PlayStation 2
Genre: Shooter, Survival Horror, MMOSH
Year: 2004
Rated: "M" for graphic violence, blood and gore, and strong language
Language: English

The game is one of the latest on the Resident Evil line. It's basic plot is that 8 strangers must get through Raccoon City alive. Each character has a unique ability or item to help them out. The personalities are somewhat diversified.

Characters:

Kevin Ryman: RPD officer. His personal item is a .45 Auto, which is a powerful gun where ammo is scarce. His special actions are Kick and Potshots
Mark Wilkins: Security guard. His personal item is a less powerful Handgun. His special actions are Guard and Full swing
George Hamilton: Doctor. His personal item is a Medical Set that lets you turn herbs into pills (not what you silly druggies are thinking). His special skill is Tackle.
Jim Chapman: Subway Transit System Employee. His personal item is a coin, if it's heads, your chance of critical attacks increase 15%, if tails, it goes to 0%. His special skills are playing dead and item sense. The most useless in my opinion.
David King: Plumber. His personal item is a tool tray, which has many useful items. His special actions are monkey wrench toss and continuous knife attack. The most useful in my opinion.
Yoko Suzuki: College student. Her personal item is a backpack, which lets her hold 8 items instead of 4. Her special action is escape. My personal favorite because of extra space
Alyssa Ashcroft: Journalist. Her personal item is a picking tool, so she is the "Master of unlocking things". Her special actions are back step and potshots.
Cindy Lennox: Waitress. Her personal item is an herb case that holds herbs. Special action is duck. She's another fave of mine because she can hold some items in the case (like guns!)

The game is divided into 5 Scenarios: Outbreak, Below Freezing Point, the Hive, Hellfire, and Decisions, Decisions.

Outbreak starts in J's Bar and ends in the streets of Raccoon City. Below Freezing Point starts and ends in the underground laboratory. The Hive starts in the hospital and ends in the sewer. Hellfire starts and ends in the burning hotel. Decisions, Decisions starts and ends in the University.

The gameplay itself is pretty decent. Good graphics, good story, and definitely well done enemies and CGI.

Commands: X for action, O for cancel and running (with R1 it does special action), Triangle for map, Start for Item menu, R1 to get ready and aim, as is R2. The right Analog is for chat actions.

Finally, the level designs are pretty damn good, though confusing at times. The scenarios range from Easy (should be Outbreak, but for me it was Hellfire) to tough (Decisions, Decisions)

All in all, a pretty decent and fun game. I have yet to do Online yet. 8.5 out of 10

Maybe I over-read this, but what console is this for, or is it just PC? I haven't played any RE game in so long, that I might just have to get this game. Seems interesting, but I was going to wait for RE4. Maybe I won't?

Screw it then. I already have plenty on my plate as it is. I'll just wait for RE4 then. Thanks.

I suggest renting the game more than buying it. I rent it. If I want to (I might later), I"ll buy it.
