Flaming outside the Flame Forum

Now.. I understand the rule is in tact to keep the boards civil. However, the purpose of this website is to express thought. If my reaction to a person's post is bad enough to merit an insult or a harsh correction, I don't understand why it's not okay to post it in response.

I feel that quoting a person and making a new thread in the flame forum totally disrupts the flow of thought in a thread, and I would like to have some explination of the basis of this rule.

Because flames derail conversation. Two people going head to head over a particular issue alienates the rest of the members, and everone else simply becomes a spectator. Flaming needs to be kept mostly to the Flame Forum. I think it's okay to take a jab at someone outside of the FF, so long as the remainder of the fight gets moved there.

Flaming as it takes place in the Flame Forum is very different from the infrequent, "No, I don't agree with you, douchebag."

Honestly, if you really feel the need to reply with more gusto than that, you just don't have any sense of self-control, and deserve to be banned. If you must, give a simple insult, make a new thread in the Flame Forum and put a re-direct to that link.

Flaming can get retarted, and turn into spam. Therefore they made a 'spam fourum' and a 'flame forum'. As raziel said, converstions can get derailed, and when this happens, the whole thread is destroyed from spammage.

But I do agree with you bob, we are expressing thought is the basis of this website, but it should be done in a civilized manner in a different section.

wait...ur saying that some1 should be banned for slaming out of the flame forum? But what if it's on topic. I understand if it turns out into a whole battle between 2 ppl than yes it alienates other members but not if it's on topic. For instance...in the thread titusfied started about that letter for "anti-american homo's and fags" ppl took a jab at me quite a few times for being against war. I think that it should be like that, heated debates add to the forum imo. But yall do a pretty good job keeping the forum together so im not really complaining...just felt like throwing in my opinion.

I mean for instance saying "i think D3V is a waste of virtual space" would be fine. But for him to bombard me with his crappy mom insults is just going to far...

Randuin 2003-10-13 11:50 PM

well not really... because you can't really include them as insults... ur degrading the sole essence of insultations

Eddie_Perez 2003-10-14 12:34 AM

Well, I say, if the whole post is dedicated to just "FUCK YOU" or just a flame or w/e. Then yes, it would be considered flaming outside the flame forum, but if someone makes a legit post and then adds, "you fucking idiot" or w/e. Who gives a fuck, its their opinion, if the thread continues with flaming have one of the many mods/supmods/admins split the thread, warn/tempban/ban the people and send it to flame forum. BAM! SIMPLE!

Idiot... :P
