Rm2k3 battle problems

when my chars die in battle it doesn't go to the game over screen i just walk around with dead characters in my party how do i fix that

how do i make it when im in battle there are different background not just all grassland, forest etc...

If you mean random encounters:

Go into "Battle Layout" on the Database. Set the Random Encounter Death Handler to "Game Over".

Setting up diifferent backgrounds - that's easy. Go into your map properties and set the Battle Background to "Use Terrain Settings". I'm assuming that you're using the default tilesets. If you're not, say so and I'll walk you through setting that up.

If you mean a battle you set up with an event, I'll go through that later. No time for that now..

for the background i mean if im walking in the forest and i get a forest battle the background for the battle is grassland and not forest...same for caves if im in the caves and i get a battle the battle background is grassland how do i fix that?

Ahh, you mean, on a cave map, the background is ALWAYS cave, regardless of where you are?

Go into the map properties, and in the "Battle Background" area, click the "Specify" radio button and the [...] button under it. Now pick the map. Make sure to hit OK!

The other method is best used for world maps.. if you're over a desert, you'll get a desert background, and on a grassland area, you'll get grasslands. The other tilesets default to grasslands on most of the tiles - a quick check shows that all but the lava and water tiles (not the waterfall or whirlpool) in the Dungeon tileset are grassland for some reason - I guess they wanted you to set the background for the entire map manually.

i got one last problem but not to do with battles. its kinda hard to explain...if i finished a mission/quest and i go back to my home town where i started from, but have someone all of a sudden say lets go to this place and when i go there they'll say different things from the first time i went there? hard to explain but get what im trying to say?

I answered something similar to that one before:

Set the switch at the end of your quest, and on every character you want to react, add a page to that character's event with the precondition of your switch. (Read above for more about switches)

Basically, if Weak Town is getting ravaged by a monster in Blah Cave, and you fight the boss in Blah Cave, the boss event's last line on page 1 (or wherever the fighting page is) should be turning on a switch (I'll call it 0082:KilledBlahBoss). The boss's last page should be blank, with the 0082:KilledBlahBoss switch as a precondition. All the characters in Weak Town should have a second page as well - with 0082:KilledBlahBoss as the precondition.

Simplified:

Step 1: Choose a switch and name it.

Step 2: Set all the townspeople you want to be affected by the switch, and add a page with the switch as the precondition.

Step 3: Make the townspeople react approprately. Maybe a few "Good job, HeroGuy!" type messages.

Step 4: Set up the quest events. (If the events are only to happen before the quest is finished, set up a second page with your switch as its precondition... an example would be a loud ROAR every time you enter the cave.)

Step 5: At the last step in your quest, turn the switch you chose ON. This will disable the quest events and make the townspeople talk to you as though you just did something (using the Page 2 dialog)

Hey i have a problem with battle animations, ive tried and tried and i still dont know how to make the characters in the battle animations
firstly - run up to the enemy
secondly - hit them
thirdly - run back to their origional positions
ive put all the poses in and everything e.g. stand still run backward\forward
they just stand there and hit they dont run up 2 the guy and hit. By the way this can be done. they did it in wings of time and i dont seem to be able to find out how they did it. please Help.

I already answered that.

1) You should've started a new thread..
2) I'll just quote myself so I don't have to type it again.
3) It's actually all done at once. You'll have to do it with every equipped weapon though.

Quote:

Running up and hitting someone? That's easy, but you have to do it on a per-item basis. Just go into the Items section of the Database and click on the weapon. You'll see the Animation box - click on the Set button below it. Another screen will pop up. Find the "Movement before attack" drop-down box... you can figure out what to do from there.
