Things that could improve
 

What do you think the staff could do to make this forum more to your liking? post whatever you want to have changed and if people like the idea enough then we can go along with it and see how it goes..

My suggestion: An announcement style "rules" section under every forum section so that everybody knows what the rules are and so that they stick out clearly and now and rule breakers wont have any excuses for being idiots... comments? suggestions? post em here or u will die.. and if u post:

so post 4 ideas everybody!.. im an exception cuz im a supreme moderator :D

1. merge the programming/websites forum with computer graphics forum

2. merge all fps forums into 1 general fps forum except maybe counterstrike forum, because the others are almost all dead. U could even delete them and dont replace them with 1 fps forum but just make it part of general gaming

3. in anouncements put good news which is important or funny, containing hardware or proffesional software and of course news facts. Dont put new games or media there, they should be in general gaming and general media forums.

4. general media, some1 mentioned before that ppl should review new movies and albums and put it there, I think this is a good idea

I disagree with #1, and chruser would agree I think. CG section should stay solo!

1) Get rid of chat forum, and stop all spam

2) Merge some D2 sections

3) Make consoles 1 section

4) Do #1,2, and 3 (couldnt think of anything else :( )

Don't delete the chat forum trust me you will just unleash spam hordes unto other forums here are my ideas

1. delete all spam in other forums and ban the spammer for at least two days

2. create new abandonware forum it has 6 yes votes and i promise i will make at least two threads per day

3. don't create food forum you'll be asking to get spammed

4. reduce game forums to one per game/genre ie 1 fps, 1 diablo, 1 rts ecc

oh and i agree with the rules thingy ex-mania oh and undead zombieguy i agree with 1,3,4 i agree with 2 too except for the last part

1. Don't make food forum
2. Create a playstation forum where you can talk about anything playstation
3. Git rid of older consoles and just use general gaming
4. Make a PC game forum because alot of games discussed in gen. gaming are PC games.

I agree with the idea of putting a rule thread at the top of each forum.

There is a Playstation 2 forum, it will be pointless to make a PS1 forum. Just look at the activity there.

The gaming forums reduction idea isn't very good. If D2 is reduced down to 1 forum section, it will be VERY unorganized.

The spam needs to be dealt with, but people should stop complaining about people who spam in Chat Forum. Treat those spammers as...people from another world or demension. (Just ignore the Chat forum and use General Convo if people are tired of spams.)

The rule book is good, we should start working on that. And then we can try and enforce the rules.

Well, I was thinking about Temp Banning and such...but...Sups Mods. can't ban, (or unban), it will be quite hard to bring forth the Temp. Banning rule.

Make a sticky thread in Forum Discussion each month...like, Bad members (I'm quoting Xenn...) in August, and the posts will be about who get banned, warned, for what reasons etc.

I meant a Sony Forum. Talk about ALL Sony stuff. Not a great or even a good idea considering its only PS1, 2 and PSP but I tried.

That thing about posting bad members is cool. This is what you should do in that thread:

1 If someone spams like ten times and is warned once they shouldn't be reported in the thread.
2. If they continue to spam after the warning they should be reported in the thread that they have 2 warnings. The max should be 4 or something. You should have to stop spamming for a month or so-on to get off the list. But they should get in EXTRA trouble if they get off the list and a week later they start spamming again.
3. Temp bans should last up to a week depending on the level of spam.

OK I have some suggestions.

1) First off some spam can be funny, but blatent spamming the hell out of interesting threads or spamming over a question some one has asked is nothing but annoying and disrespectful it should not be tolerated. Like I have said before when people ask for help, sifting through insults and spam to finally have the thread closed because it is off topic is ..... crap for lack of a better word.

2) I think people here don't always post so much because they prefere to use a message provider ( see reasons above ) so maybe fixing the Chat option would give members more reason to log on to Zel and also allow people to thrash things out in the Chat room as oppose to spamming the forums.

3) One reason I myself always check in on Zel is because help is never far away
ex: The MSBlast virus every one with information added some thing to help other members. A forum with upto date info on new virus and how to fix them and security issues or alike, I also think this could bring new members.

4) Another forum that members might find interesting could be life dicussions , girlfriend/boyfriend issues parent issues work issues, School issues, I am the star wars kid issues. I don't know but just a more personal forum.

5) The idea started in the flame forum with the flame contest is the kind of thing that will give older members some thing new, also every one was interested in the riddles titus did, although it was an old thread. But some games, puzzles or contests seem to always be fun and popular.

There are alot of funny people and cool people on Zel, it makes me smile just to think of K_A's Pancake Bunny or Panda pic :D

I'll try to work on my news posting skills for you guys, I can't say as much for the rest of the news posters though.

On the other hand, here's what we really need to do:

Merge some of the subforums that go together for diablo 2, and make it only 1 or 2 moderaters. Having all those d2 mods are completely unnessecary.

The same goes for the rest of the forums. We need a lot less mods, and more that do their job. Remove the inactive ones from their duties, and try to have them all moderate more than forum each.

Maybe we could have a position called "Zelaron's Inspector" who would watch what the mods were doing, and if they see that they aren't doing their job, put them on probation for a week. If they don't clean up their act, demod them.

Next, change the rules of the chat forum.There is TOO MUCH SPAM in it. Mods need to ELIMINATE that.

Better yet, why don't we make posts in the chat forum not count against your total post count. Seeing these retards spamming for a month then going "w00t 1k posts for meh!" isn't making this forum any better.

Chat forum is just useless, just have it go to general and keep the retarded spam down to a very low lvl and punish ones who dont listen

Ban new retarded members. Don't give me that crap about banning potential good members, people have shown that they won't change, I don't care if it will make the forum less active or not, I'd rather read 20 good posts per day by people who belong here than 100 posts per day that are mostly spam/d2 begging/spam/spam/spam/spam/outwar spam/zagggons shitpiles.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to scrap the console forums and make company forums... like instead of a Game Cube, PS2, XBox, GBA, etc. forums... just have Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft... since the forums aren't too active individually but are farily active altogether it might make it a more solid discussion forum for any and all products/rumors/etc of that particular company.

1. create a chemistry board
2. create a drugs board. i dont mean just a board where people can ask "ya i just got a bong how do i use it" i mean a place to post usefull info about drug use and pros/cons
3. ban all spamers on boards sept chat forum for 10 days
4. create a category for all spam stuff, like WRT + chat forums + flame forums. like in its own special cat.

i tried making a drugs pros cons thread but everyone ignored it and amazon i hope you don't mean me

my ideas

1. Instead of making new forums, subjects that aren't that popular can be turned into permanent threads which allow one person sorta like a sub sub mod to edit it, what i mean is a food thread instead of a food forum

2.make post ratings i.e. give people the ability to rate the usefullness or wisdom of a post it would reduce the number of people spamming to insult a post

3.i can't stress this enough control spam outside of the chat forum, make a meeting and ask chrusher to give sup mods the power

No drug section, that is just going to be a Chat Section named come here if you do drugs and think your cool. I mean really....

Lets try and get a IRC channel again, this way people can go there if they feel the need to spam. I mean... its an idea. This way we can get rid of Chat section or w/e.

D2 into D2 Legit and D2 Cheating(hacking or w/e) and maybe even keep a D2 General.

FPS Section for all games, but CS(well the way it is now, maybe even get rid of it too :( ).

General Gaming having sub sections like... Game Dev, Game Chat, Game News, and w/e you like to think of too

1. Mods who haven't posted in over 3 or 4 months should be de-modded.

2. Sports Forum.

3. DON'T ban new members who spam and stuff. They could be somewhat good. Look at me.

If they are spamming and not listening to the warnings, why not? If they are going to be somewhat good, they should have been from the start.
