computer help

im pretty sure im getting a new computer and i would like yall to check if this deal is a pretty good deal and the stuff on it would work good or whatnot the website is http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm and the deal im thinking about getting is the 4th one with the picture and is 835 called best value one, i think thats a good deal and what i was gonna change to it was getting a soundcard instead of onboard and get a dvd drive and no speakers and upgrade to 420 watt, but i just need to know if that deal would be pretty good and if it isnt, would you know a better place to get a cheaper computer and just as good?

really!!?? so on those games that say the requirement for mhz the highest game i can play is a 1.83ghz one?

J_iceman 2003-08-25 10:26 AM

i'm actually about to get a 3.0 ghz. laptop for only 700 it also comes with dvd + cd-rw, and floppy and a cool case, not bad huh (without warrenty though)

iceman887 2003-08-25 04:33 PM

i dont care what you are getting but that is a awesome deal but so if i got a 3.0 ghz intel then that means i could play games that if their mininum requirements were 3.0ghz right? and i thought the 2500 amd thing would be faster than a 1.8ghz cuz my bro got a 1.333 amd one and said it could go up to a 1.7ghz

J_iceman 2003-08-25 10:24 PM

thats why you should stay with intel, yes it it more expensive but i never have any problems yet, well we have our computer which is a 3.0 ghz comp with 800 front size bus and we cant even play playstation games and or other emulators we have for win 98, for some reason its too fast or something.....

here is the deal, if you want to "just play right now" then just get that computer, but if you do not want to waste money, just buy the better one so that you dont have to worry about upgading for a MUCH longer time

remember, with this type of technology, the technology of today will be yesterdays news.

we have this 3.0 ghz because we know that there is not that much software made for this type of system, but when thay do........we will be ready :-P

Personally, as a hardware nerd, I prefer AMD ATHALON products. Intel is more expensive, for less performance. You may try to do you ghz math, but its wrong. If you get a 2.4GHZ Intel it runs at 1.952ghz, if you get a 2400 Amd Athalon processor it runs at 2385.5, you do the math, Amd is cheaper and better, everybody likes intel because they have more computers and more advertisements for the consumers. Yes the computer would be a good deal. The intel company is working on a 5.4 ghz chip which will be out next year supposively. You can get dual processors running at 2.4 ghz a peice, get whatever you want, dont spend extra money on shit like a flat screen monitor (unless you need the room), or a 180gb hd, all you need is an 80 or 120. And you don't need 2gigz of ram, 512 is all you will ever need /w a 64mb video card. Anything else is too fast for the slow frontside busses out on the market. What you should try to get is a 533 fsb (front side bus) because that is what the compter itself runs at.
