Zelaron classes

Some free, educational classes on IRC are currently in the plans. However, we could use some help to decide the topic(s) for them, so feel free to vote and/or discuss the various options in here. Depending on what you choose, I'm sure the topic will vary quite a bit. Generally, this is just to check the interest from the board members in various categories.

I would really like a class in Lightwave.

Mr.Lee 2003-02-14 12:52 PM

I say LW too.

Thanatos 2003-02-14 01:31 PM

I'd be interested in anything, but mainly Web Design. I know nothing about any of that stuff.

Light Wave!!!

Assembly

Chruser 2003-02-14 02:44 PM

Assembly classes would be a bit not-so-organized. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they're highly software/machine-based. There is no universial assembly (assembler?) code, it's unique for almost all machine types.

As you can tell, I don't know much about it either. WW might know his share, but I doubt he has the time to teach classes. Other languages, however, like C++ are more appropriate.

For the LW classes, I can take care of those. :)

i think a php/HTML/Java class would be great IMO

I could respond to LW questions tonight and assemble you all so you can help each other out in LW, but I haven't thought of any specific guides/tutorials yet.

Just connect to irc.zelaron.com, channel #zelaron, and be there at 6 pm EST tonight if you can.

allanonx 2003-02-16 09:09 PM

uh...what is LW?

Randuin 2003-02-16 11:18 PM

Plain and simple... MAYA! I mean c'mon, no one wants to learn lightwave, they just want to learn it because you use it Chruser =\ they should see some of the things that they make in Maya or 3dsmax... Like... Star Wars and err I dunno... The Cathedral? (actually i'm not sure what that's made in... but more likely some custom made 3d program for their studio... like Pixar... heh)

Exterminator 2003-02-19 06:22 PM

3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! 3dsmax! I say that is the best class :)

Randuin 2003-02-19 06:25 PM

All of the ones marked with pre-vis or modeling had the final results output in another program, yes. But no, that's not neccessarily MAYA, as MAX and SoftImage were used for are lot of those as well. :)

No offense for MAYA, of course... *cough* :D

Anime-Otaku 2003-05-07 09:06 PM

how bout a class on BASIC/Linux/VB/C++ ? Basic and VB would be ez to teach.

Randuin 2003-05-09 09:05 AM

oh ya... mind you LW was only used for architectual and enviormental modelling in final fantasy, the characters and such modelling were done in maya
