I'm coming.

I'm coming to WoW here within 1-2 months.

I'm getting a stick of 100-200 memory, a graphix card(128 mb), a few gift cards to bestbuy/gamestop, and WoW.

I've got questions though.

Will a 128 mb graphix card still be laggy w/ wow?

!King_Amazon! 2005-01-03 12:51 AM

I'm using a 64mb integrated intel POS and I run it fine.

What the hell is a stick of 100-200 memory?

slaynish 2005-01-03 02:01 AM

My mom has a stick of memory for my computer. I'm a compnub so bare with me my vocabulary = shit.

I'm going to place it in my computer, to give me a godly 450-512 memory or so..

I had 512 ram with WoW for a while, it is playable, but if you are in a big pvp battle with more than 10 people (which you always are) then it will lagg so bad that you can barely move. An upgrade to 1gig is needed to enjoy major pvp battles lagg free.

My desktop with 512MB of memory and a GF4Ti4600 128MB runs it fine mostly at medium settings, though it goes down to .5 FPS when I first enter Orgrimmar by fast travel (but picks up to a playable-in-non-combat 14-20 FPS after a few seconds), and has an unexplainable drop to 5 FPS in Crossroads. Also, I've noticed that the game seems to be in texture-memory-saving mode, as the terrain is composed of 40 meterx40 meter blocks of texture without transition and sometimes player models are white. I get my laptop (Radeon 9000 512MB,1GB system memory) back tomorrow; I can't wait for WoW to look pretty again, not to mention being able to check thottbot while I play.

I think every computer will lag when you enter that shitty town.

I never have freezups ever in WoW that isn't cosmos/server related.

zagggon 2005-01-03 04:23 PM

Yeah Org is the place for lagg if your going to have any, it will be there. I used to lagg there like a bitch but now that I have 1gig it's fine.

!King_Amazon! 2005-01-03 04:49 PM

I run everything on highest settings and view distance really low.

slaynish 2005-01-03 05:43 PM

I see.

Your gfx card is what i'm getting, WW. Or a raedon 128. I know my gfx card is going to run it fine, and if not then i'll get something with 164, but my memory is whats going to be killing me.

When i get WoW, i'm going to definitly delete Diablo II Multiplayer Installation(With Xpac) and WarcraftIII ( With Frozen Throne)

Would that help the WoW running process greatly?

Also how many gigs does WoW take up approximatly.

Thanks!

iceman887 2005-01-03 07:18 PM

around 2.5 gigs, but you need room for patches too

Xenn 2005-01-03 07:20 PM

Clearing up hard-drive space won't help things run faster.. unless you have like some tiny amount of free space (under 500 megs or something)

Right now all i've got is a EXTREMLY lame 615 mb....

I dont play WCIII becuase it wont load on my system, but im keeping both DII and WCIII installed becuase i dont want to download other things.

This way i figure, there is less, EXTREMLY less chance that i'll get addicted to another game before i get WoW, so i can just meet & complete my goals.

615mb? lol

slaynish 2005-01-03 08:30 PM

Mind you >> my system has a total of 14.5 gigs.

Dont poke fun at me :(

Which is why i might just get to install WoW on my bros comp, and if infact that case does happen ( about a 50-50% chance :() just disregard this whole thread, for it will have no real meaning, besides the " I'm coming to WoW" part.

Grav 2005-01-03 08:36 PM

Don't even bother playing it on POS systems.

slaynish 2005-01-03 08:43 PM

Are you advising me to not even start WoW, and not even to bother playing it on my POS systemS?

My brothers computer has 1k memory, a free 156 gigs on his harddrive, and WW's gfx card(GF4). I think if i install it there, ( 5050% chance like i said) then i'll have more of a gaming experience.

Or are you advising me not even to start WoW?

Grav 2005-01-03 08:45 PM

His comp sounds okay, that should be alright. But how much time can you spend on it, honestly?

zagggon 2005-01-03 08:48 PM

When I had 512 memory on my laptop I could run WoW fine with all settings on low, except in major pvp battles it lagged like a mother. Oncec I upgraded to 1gig however, I was able to put all settings on high and the next raid I was in (which had around 50+ people atleast) there was no lagg at all with all settings on highest possible =)!
