Windows 7 and Windows Live Messenger
It doesn't seem like they enjoy each other much.
I've been trying for the past month, since I received my new laptop, to install Windows Live Messenger to talk with an old friend or two. The problem is, every time I download/install Windows Live Essentials, absolutely none of the programs installed appear on my computer - it's like it's literally just taking up space! Lenny? WW? GLG even? Can someone help? |
MSN has gone to the shit.
Download one of the alternatives, like Pidgin, that allow you to log in to many IM services with the same client. |
Sorry Lenny. I love MSNs setup. The pictures, the emoticons... otherwise I'd just get Yahoo! and be done with it.

If they are taking up space then their must be files installed, try going to start and type in "live".
Some programs are x86 (32bit) and some are x64 (64-bit). Although alot of laptops nowadays work both versions, check and see if your downloading the right one for your laptop. |
Avatars (which I assume is what you mean by "pictures") and emoticons are not exclusive to MSN.
The bigger IM clients, like Pidgin and Trillian, can all be skinned and you can install custom emoticon packs. |

yeah you can

So it's basically going to feel like MSN, but look like something else?
|
You can make it look however you want. That's what Lenny meant by "can all be skinned." Find an MSN skin and there you go.

You're just asking for spam, posting your e-mail in a public forum...
|
No, I'm asking for friend requests.

Sad attempt to get friends. |
Well, if Lennard wouldn't mind helping me get used to the program... That's all I'd really like.
