Who Still Plays?

So, I started playing here and there again last week. Who out in Zelaron still plays though? I've just been playing by myself, and it's starting to get a little boring. That, compiled with the fact that I haven't had a error-free play experience since I started....

First I was getting that fucking "Halt Error", now I keep losing my connection after 2 minutes. I'm in contact with Blizzard via email, but they are basically useless.....

Anyway, that's my rant. Post account names here and if you're on, I'll whisper you to play.

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

Does sounds like a network problem, or possibly your firewall..

but yeah, I occasionally play here and there, but not really that much. I'm waiting for D3 and SC2 to come out before I start playing video games again.

Yes, I use Linksys. I just got another email response from Blizzard, and they said the same thing about my Firewall settings. They had me add Ports 6112 & 4000, which I did, so I'm hoping it eliminates the problem. Any other suggestions just in case this doesn't work?

Well, it only lets me choose 1 - both isn't an option. Blizzard said to just click on TCP. Should I add both those ports again and this time check the UDP???

If you're still getting disconnected, yes.

D3V 2009-02-03 12:29 PM

Yeah, and that should fix your issue.

Titusfied 2009-02-03 12:50 PM

Fuck it, I just added it anyway. Can't hurt me, right??

The worst it can do is cause more connectivity problems. You running vista? I think a buddy of mine actually swapped the compatibility to win2k or something and all of his previous issues disappeared.

Nope, I run XP. I tried changing everything and was still getting the same problem..... I literally did it everywhere I could find a place to add ports, and still the same problem. So I decided to restart my computer and try again. I was only able to join a game for like 5 minutes because I had to run out the door, but it seemed to have been working? Then again, it just randomly works for like 15-20 minutes sometimes before I get booted, then the whole thing starts up again. Maybe it's fixed, maybe not? I will hopefully find out after work today.

I would strongly discourage forwarding/opening all the ports on your router, that's just asking to get hacked.

Bad wording for me. I meant, I opened 6112 and 4000 ports everywhere I could find. I.e. - I wireless connection, wired connection, symantec protection, on linksys via going to the 192.168.1.1 website, and I think that was it? Anywhere I could locate anything to do with my internet connection and it allowed me to allow or make exceptions to ports, I opened 6112 and 4000.

I think I figured it out too. I was playing yesterday, and after about an hour, I got that stupid, "Halt 1646 Error" and my game crashed. When I logged back on, I was getting the stupid Your Connection Has Lost Connection Error like normal. I restarted my computer, and viola, everything worked again. Of course, an hour or so in again, rinse and repeat. At least I'm getting to play now, so I'm happy with the outcome.

Thanks.

I play private servers, since I've been banned from bnet since 2005.
