My Guess

Hillary will be the next president. It goes against what I've been saying, but I think that is what is going to happen.

D3V 2007-10-09 09:26 AM

I don't see it happening. The polls are obstructed from what the majority of people out there actually believe, it's going to be a close race on the democratic side, but I honestly do see Obama getting the bid.

gruesomeBODY 2007-10-09 09:28 AM

Yea, i dont mean to sound like pig, but i dont want to see a female president right now. I also believe that other candidates suck too so im not to excited for americas future in politics right now

I don't think the country has 'grown up' enough yet to truly accept a female President, personally.

WetWired 2007-10-09 08:38 PM

If Hillary is on the ballot, she will get my vote simply because it's about damn time we get past having only men in office.

D3V 2007-10-10 07:01 AM

The only reason people are voting for Hilary is because they believe getting 'Bill' back into the office will have him back in the role. IMO he has been the best president in our history and Hilary will not be.

Ack.

Well being married they obviously have alot of similarities. So I think she will be good and as I've said before I'd vote for her just like WW.

Since when does being married obviously mean they have alot of similarities, have you ever heard the phrase "opposites attract?

Yes, alot of Clinton's main policies are similar to her Husband's for one reason, because they are both DEMOCRAT, has nothing to do with her and Bill being married. I just can't see somebody like her being elected. But you never know, i'd rather have her in office than ANY of the republicans.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-10 11:35 AM

Opposites attract doesn't apply to politics.

And for the most part, I think the phrase is wrong. I suppose it's right to a certain extent, because if you were completely like someone you would probably just annoy the fuck out of each other. On the other hand, being completely different would mean you have nothing in common, and that would also suck. Being similar in some areas has it's bonuses, for instance, what kind of movies you like, video games, food, etc. Being completely different would make living together with someone else pretty hard.

So you're going to vote for her on the sole fact that she's a woman? You don't care about her policies/stances on things?

Yes but saying they were married so they are SIMILAR does, when you go down their politics Hilary seems to be off in various categories, I'd post up a whole volume of stuff that I don't agree with, but I'm alt+tabbing at work so trying to do so right now would take too long.

WetWired 2007-10-10 01:23 PM

To be honest, I probably disagree with her on a lot of things, but I think there's more good to be had in women being considered as legitimate contenders for office in the future than there is harm she can do in four years.

D3V 2007-10-10 01:36 PM

Let me clear this up before I address anything else: I'm all for women's rights. I see no reason that a woman should get paid less for doing the same job, and likewise I see no reason why we can't have a woman for president. Sexism is a thing of the past in my eyes; and as I believe in progress, regressing to such a medieval mindset violates whatever morals my parents instilled in me (though it's perfectly fine if it stays within the realm of comedy).

While I'm all for a woman President; I believe that Hillary Clinton is, as a candidate and not necessarily as a woman, unfit for the job. And this disbelief is not rooted in bias; it's rooted in Clinton's own statements.

According to CNN, Clinton recently made the claim that, "I'm not sure I would have gotten through [my marital strife] without my faith." I have two problems with this statement:

1. Her Martial Crisis

Let's not mince words: Bill Clinton cheated on her with another woman. In response to this, did she leave his punk ass? Did she divorice him or beat him severely? NO! She just said, "Yes dear," and cowered into the corner of the kitchen like a good little wifey. I don't believe someone who would let their chauvinist spouse cheat on them in front of the entire country without repercussion is fit for President.

2. Her "God helped me through it" Statement

Let me get this straight: God helped you through a crisis faced by hundreds of married couples every year; and there are young, innocent children dying of famine and plague as I type this. Something doesn't add up here.

I know full well that this statement is just an attempt to garner votes from the unwashed masses (see: religion). But I also know full well that this doesn't make her statement any less stupid; it just makes it more empty.

Aside from politics that surely doesn't help any.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-10 02:12 PM

You know, D3v, that post is both unbiased and makes good points. I hadn't thought about that at all before. In all honesty, I'm suprised that it's coming from you and not from someone else. If I can't right now, I'm going to give you a positive rep for that post as soon as I can.

Congrats on not being a dumbass.

So what happens when Hillary has her monthly bitch-phase and occasionally decides to nuke a country becuase she's overly emotional and a degrading comment is made at her and she just 'can't take it.'

Yep, that's a valid concern...

...if we ignore the fact that declaration of war is one of the powers that only Congress possesses.

Demosthenes 2007-10-10 04:39 PM

Hillary has the greatest chance of winning currently.

I may have been wrong in my previous statement, but I'm still not believing that the country will elect a woman at this point.

Although I guess there may be enough Bush backlash that many people are aiming to elect someone who is opposite of Bush in every way. :p

D3V 2007-10-11 06:40 AM

She has the greatest chance by people that voice their opinions on POLLS. People don't seem to understand that these polls are NOT 100% correct, the majority of people that voice their opinions all day every day are the same people that protest everything, file lawsuits for everything, and are generally in the "Hilary Clinton" bandwagon.

I think you have a general misunderstanding of how these polls are run...
