Spyware...

I originally thought I had a virus, but when I searched, "Win32.IEmonster" turns out it's a fake threat that makes you think you have a virus and causes you to purchase their virus protection.

The damned program doing this is Green AV. I don't know how it got installed, but I can't figure out how to remove it from my computer. All the spyware scans I use will look for them, and make me wait for two hours before they tell me that in order to remove the threats I need to purchase the software for x amount of money.

Anyone heard of "Green AV" and know a way to get rid of it?

I don't know what you're using, but stop using it, and install:

Spybot S&D
AVG Anti-Virus
MalwareBytes

Are those free, like they will remove it for free? Or just tell me hey, I have an issue for free.

Lenny 2009-08-30 12:43 PM

They're completely free - will scan for free, tell you you have an issue for free, and get rid of it for free.

Spybot SD didn't remove Green AV. Im trying AVG but, one hour + into the scan and it has found zero threats.

Apparently one of the most widely used programs to get rid of Green AV is Malwarebytes.

Did you install it?

And here are a few sites for you:

I know I'm a little late. So, were you able to remove it?

If not, I wrote more below under me Quoting Lenny.

Malwarebytes owns all of those websites :p And that's not a joke. Not that it's a bad program, it's a great program, just telling the truth.

I also suggest, if Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware Fails, to use SuperAntiSpyware.

Malwarebytes didnt even find it, I ended up purchasing SpywareDoctor, and it found it and removed it instantly. I am content - thanks for the help.
