Blizz Job: Lead 3D Enviorment .. > .. Read

Another damn clue for Diablo 3 has been tossed up on the Blizzard site which I just stumbled onto a few minutes ago. Just read through it and tell me what you think, I know the announcement is coming within a few hours, or maybe tomrrow, but today or tomorrow something will definately be announced...

Lead 3D Environment Artist
Blizzard Entertainment, the developer of Diablo and Diablo II, is looking for a lead 3D environment artist skilled at creating models and texture maps for both architectural and natural environments. The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing assets for a diverse visual range of environments. A solid grasp of form, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential. The lead environment artist must have experience leading a team and have a skill in another art task as well (illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, or concept drawing) and be well-versed in related tools -- Maya, Photoshop, etc. The ideal candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about making great games.

Blizzard Entertainment offers a fun, creative, and technically rewarding environment with excellent compensation and a full range of benefits.

Requirements

5+ years experience in game development modeling and texturing environments using Maya and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
Experience working with an art director in developing a unique and cohesive modeling and texturing style
The ability to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers
Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
A passion for games
Skill in one or more of the related creation tasks: illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, or concept drawing
Plusses
Have shipped AAA PC or console titles as a lead 3D environment artist
Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and environmental and/or architectural illustration.
Please send demo reel and descriptions as well as a cover letter, resume, and salary history in separate Word format documents to resumes@blizzard.com.

Alright, the part that really convinces me is how they say "The developer of Diablo and Diablo 2" instead of "The developer of World of Warcraft".

Unless the job were somehow related to Diablo, I don't see why they wouldn't even MENTION World of Warcraft, much less leave Diablo out all together. World of Warcraft has made them far much more money.

They either A) Are actually giving us a clue, or B) are toying with our fuckin minds.

Yeah, but I believe Diablo has the potential to make much, much more money. Now with the WoW base, and lots of pissed off current/ex customers and the 2-3 Million that still actively play Diablo 3 daily, and the potential customers from other MMOs etc that've seen Blizz's track record and are willing to try something new...

Update: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=80775

The "Announcement will be at 20:00 UK Time, whenever that is, I'm guessing around 8:00 pm our time? .. Hmm, i'll go look it up later.

20:00=8:00 PM, D3v.

8:00PM in england is 3:00PM Eastern time. The announcement will be in approximately 1 hour and 8 minutes.

Oh sweet had myself backwards, lmao. But it's sad it looks like it probably will be the WoW Expansion, but then again they said there WOULD be TWO games announced, but who knows, if they don't announce Diablo i'm just going to stick with Starcraft II, because i'm frankly tired of damn WoW... for now atleast, maybe they can turn things around, but I doubt it.

!King_Amazon! 2007-08-03 11:58 AM

I would say there's about a 75% chance Diablo 3 will be announced sometime soon.

D3V 2007-08-03 12:35 PM

The hints have been going on for about a year for the positions working with the "Diablo and Diablo 2" team members, this though, could mean they're creating an entirerly new game. They have Trademarked anything with Diablo 3, and recently announced that Wrath of the Lych King has been trademarked, everything about it too.

on IGN on the Blizzcon page, there's a sign that says "WoW : Wrath of the Lych King" right after you come through the front door, so i'm guessing that's one of them :(

!King_Amazon! 2007-08-03 12:36 PM

I'm pretty sure they're only announcing one game, unless you can show me somewhere that says otherwise. They WERE announcing 2 games total, but Starcraft 2 was one of those.

D3V 2007-08-03 12:43 PM

Ah damn I hope not, because just recently they confirmed The Lych King WoW EXP II.. which is a bummer, ...

!King_Amazon! 2007-08-03 12:44 PM

I think that was the announcement.

D3V 2007-08-03 12:46 PM

Damnit.

-Spector- 2007-08-03 02:43 PM

I think it'd be badass to make a 1st person view of Diablo 2 and LoD (or a 3D 3rd person) in the same acts and storyline and everything, with the same NPCS (Maybe a few more) and the same (but more) of the same quests

Killing mephisto or baal would be badass in a 3d environment

timmay1113 2007-08-03 07:13 PM

yeah I would still play the game if they revamped it and made it 3d lol

Willkillforfood 2007-08-05 02:15 PM

World of Diablocraft

Vollstrecker 2007-08-06 12:03 AM

No Diablo 3 announcement, their big announcement was the fucking WoW expansion we already knew was coming.

timmay1113 2007-08-06 10:31 AM

I will go back to my warhammercraft lolz
