How do you feel about the RMAH?

I think it is going to be a bad idea in the long run. Botters and Chinese gold farmers are going to end up ruining the economy. With the way the game is, you pretty much have to use the AH to succeed.

I think all the godly items are all gonna be in RM and not in gold anymore, and with the way people are pricing items in the gold auction, I wouldn't be surprised to see 1000$ items.

This was my concern. Though I think that the cost to post items on the RMAH will keep this down a bit. I know that I, for one, wouldn't ever put anything but a perfect rolled item on the RMAH. I just don't wanna pay money and not always get it back. I think a lot of people are the same way.

I don't think it costs anything just to post an item. They only take a cut if your item sells. At least that was how it worked when I last looked. Either way, I think the RMAH is a necessary evil of sorts. People are going to buy and sell items for real money anyway. The only major downside that I see is that it gives Blizzard profit motive in regards to game design. It is better for them to make godly items necessary for completion of the game so that unless you are incredibly patient, you have to buy items on the AH. That is pretty much the current state of things anyway, I've only found a handful of upgrades for myself as I've been leveling. A large majority of what my character uses was bought on the AH. I likely wont use the RMAH regardless, unless I find something godly that I can make money on. I have no desire to spend real money on fake items, but I'm more than happy selling my fake items for real money.

Thank you for that. Sums up my thoughts nicely.

Also, I was just reading the article on patch 1.0.3 and in it Blizz states very clearly they do not want players relying on the AH for items. They are going to even increase the drop rate of ilvl 61,62, and 63 items so that you can even get a ilvl 63 item in Act I Inferno (with a 2% drop rate) but if you've made it to act III/IV inferno then you get a 24% drop rate on ilvl 61 items.

What they need to do is raise the fuckin player levels. WTF is the point of playing inferno, other than item drops, if you can get to level 60 with a few Hell kulle runs.

i think i smart thing for them to do would be to cap the pricing , and to limit the amount of stuff any one account to sell down to a bare minimum.

kaos 2012-06-10 11:44 AM

Yeah, true that. They way they automate gem pricing, they should do it for items as well. Maybe price according to stats.

Asamin 2012-06-10 01:33 PM

but then we'd have a socialist economy in Diablo. I think they want more freedom. Plus, then people would just trade in game for items of more worth. The high value items would be traded for more gold then they could be sold on the AH just through games.
