Post Likability
It'd make the posts more enjoyable to read, knowing the consensus' overall view of each individual idea.
or maybe a thumbs up/thumbs down type of option/tool be available.
I can dig that idea, kind of like e-rep but visible for each individual post.
Another idea would be that, if you got 10 or more likes, it could add a bit to the e-rep.
With the current number of active members that would never happen.
But K_A. Diablo 3.
Hmm. I know it stores which post was liked/disliked, but I really know nothing about the related data structures.
Eek. Eh, just an idea. And how about another Facebook ripoff of being able to "tag" people in a post? That'd be fun, and then have their notifications update of such taggings.
K_A would have a million tags a day.
This is a wonderful idea. I don't know how the programming would go, but perhaps the most liked and most disliked post of the week could redirect those to all of the fun. I think this could also pertain to threads. Nice thinking, D3V.
Thread likability sounds nice. If a thread gets 25+ likes it should be flagged or something so that it can't be deleted.
Exactly. A simple idea can be con-strewed into whatever anyone could imagine.
If you wanna get really crazy with it, each like should go into a kind of box, and at the end of the week, it tallys all the different likes, and the person who has the most gets an award. By award, I just mean a silly little icon and a "congrats!" message, but still.
For example, if you get the most likes in a week, you get a little bronze trophy by your post number. If you get the whole month, you get a silver trophy, and six months/a year is a gold one. If they stack (like, you get the most likes 2 weeks in a row, but not the whole month, for example) it just adds a number. Think like, facebook notifications. A bronze statue with a red "2" by it. It could practically turn Zelaron into a sport. |
Another idea would be the allowance of posting via anonymity with the filter of a captcha.
This would derive from most image boards floating around, and still maintain a registered member section. |
Also, if members are wanted have one section designed for porn and follow with user submitted content.
I liked the first one but the second no. This is a good site, if you want porn you should head off to websites made for porn.
We already have/had a porn section at one point. It was inactive.
You're right, it was. Why? People and porn and anonymity are all together in a fiber optics live triangle. Even though we are all just reflections and skewed personas of ourselves in real life, posting porn with your username would create a different stigma than the ones we all have created for ourselves.
Not saying the entire forum should be porn, but one singular section and anonymous users allowed to upload and share. |
I think the risks involved with anonymous porn posting are probably not worth the reward. Just look at 4chan, they have to keep moderators on constantly and work closely with the feds just to not get shut down.
We had an adult board at one point.
Like I said, porn is a bad idea. The problems far outweigh the benefits. And this is a gaming forum, not a porn forum.
Exactly. We tried something like it for a while, but it didn't last. We just didn't like it.
I thought it was a tolerable idea, honestly. It was just a hidden forum, and you had to jump through some obscure hoops to get access to it. There weren't enough people interested enough to go through the trouble of making it active.
It still exists, though noone has posted since 2009.
And it's really not much trouble to get to it, if you know how. I guess needing the group mod to accept requests is an issue, though. Once you've gotten the group, the cookie thing is just to let you have the forum at home but not at work. http://zelaron.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43426 |
Well that was a fun trip down memory lane.
More traffic the better.
Like. |
Still not part of this group, don't really intend to be.
A lot of forums have reputation points which can sometimes add to activity.
That is why we have these reputation squares is it not?

Good point, but I feel like if we simply had each post liked, then all we would know is that was a good post. What about likeabliity of a thread?
I would honestly like every single post and thread, before reading them.
This is why we can't have nice things.
Generally I would think the likability of a thread would be indicated by the likability of the original post or perhaps the total of likes of all posts in a thread. Regardless the feature is pointless to talk about because we don't have enough activity for it to be even remotely useful.
A very good point.

That may or may not be true, but in either case you did nothing to refute what I said so I'm going to assume you agree.
We should have a negging system as well in that case.
I would think that would be assumed. If you have a system to show how good a thread is, it must also show how bad.
