If you could choose any super power, what would it be?

Omniscience is a nice goal to strive for, but actually attaining it would have significant, negative consequences from many points of view.

The only bad thing I can see about it is it would probably get boring pretty fast. There's no challenge to anything, or limit to anything. There's not really anything to strive for or desire if you've got the ability to do anything and everything, or make anything and everything.

flying!! it owuld make gymnastics SO much easier for one, and everything else too. no more gas money!! and like, it owuld be fun hah

I went with telepathy. I think it'd be quite convenient to have in certain circumstances.

Honestly, I'd rather communicate with animals, though.

I want superhuman strength, but I didn't see it listed. That way I could have it and superhuman speed since you could throw yourself around at fast speeds. You'd also probably be next to invulnerable since your muscle fibers would be tough enough to lift heavy objects ...what's a bullet to that? Depending on the degree of strength, a uranium depleted shell might not even be much compared to it :x.

I chose x ray because you don't attract much attention to yourself, 'cept with the other super powers it's the exact opposite...

Funny, when I saw duplication I assumed it was the ability to duplicate yourself.

I don't see the point to some of these. Who would want Superhuman senses? Imagine what kind of things you would smell. Ugh. And everywhere you go you would hear people having sex. Double ugh if they are old people. Taste? No way. Cause if it tastes like crap now it tastes like super crap. Teleportation technically IS superhuman speed. In fact you move your molecules to any place near instantaneously. That is MOVING with super speed technically. So fast that you can only move your base elements and reform them. That would be faster than superman could ever move. I have good enough reflexes and I already can see well at night thanks to my damn eyes. Omniscience? Why the fuck would you want to know EVERY little thing? Everyone would think you were annoying lol. Telepathy? Why talk with your mind? You have a damn mouth people, USE IT. Telekinesis is WAY better than Telepathy. Mind Control? Stupid. I have nothing more to say on it. Mutation? No thanks. You look like a freak great super power. Energy Sourcing? Really? What good would it do to be able to make energy? Almost the whole world would be trying to kidnap you constantly for a free source of energy. If it's not a govt. it would be a corp. The rest are okay with few drawbacks. I would pick Accelerated Healing though.

It's not quite that simple :P

Having X-ray vision would give you the ability to get just about anything you wanted. For instance, what good is a lock on a safe when you can see inside the lock to open it? You no longer need a combination at that point, assuming you know how a lock works.

Also, you could easily look into someone's wallet and find out all of their information and steal their identity with ease. You could look through the walls of someone's house to see basically everything about them.

Getting any use from the power would mean you would be doing pretty "evil" things, but it isn't a useless power by any means.

With great power comes great responsibility, grasshopper. :P

Maybe if you look at someone long enough you'd give them radiation poisoning and kill them. In which case it'd be an interesting power. You could be the perfect assassin :p.

Knowledge can be useful yes but say you are one man and your sole exceptional ability is knowing things. What good does that do when you know the enemy is stronger, faster, and more cunning than you? You cannot beat him. Reflexes are just like that only worse. With above said ability you could plan and trap him. Reflexes you have to wait until the shit is about to hit the fan in the first place.

No, they are different. Teleportation actually isn't moving, since nothing can move faster than the speed of light yet in almost all cases teleportation implies instantaneous travel. In addition teleportation has the drawback of not seeing where you're going before you go there; with super human speed you would see your path and what's ahead of you. In theory with super human speed, you could perform such feats as plucking a knife out of the air on its way to its target, especially considering that you'd still be subject to special relativity.

That aside, I'd say of those listed the most usefull would be teleportation and duplication, assuming that when I "un-duplicate" I retain the knowledge and experience of all my clones.

Including the pain? You would remember the pain they felt.

Also speed is Distance Traveled/Covered/Moved Over/(Insert any word you want here) vs. Time taken to get there. For instance I will use Diablo 2 (Here on D2) as an example.

To calculate speed in the programming the devs used the amount of distance travelled vs. time taken to get there. This is the formula for the Barb without any boosts in D2.

4000 (Units Moved) / 40 secs elapsed. This would be 4000 divided by 40. The barbarians move speed is 100. He can move 100 Units a second. Note that I just stole the numbers from the base program not the name I just put units there for lack of better knowledge. Anyways using this formula they created an instantaneous movement called Teleport. This looks more like this though.

65235 (Units again) / 1 Second Elapsed. This would be instant movement and this is how they programmed the Teleport move in D1. All they did was attach a movement and image to it to make the wizard look like he is casting a spell much like the animation they put on the attack function to make the warrior actually look like he is hitting the enemy with his sword. In the case of more advanced games it looks like this though. Infinite / 0. This is after they pierced the limit with programming but Teleport still works like that.

Technically since this counts at travelling it's Teleportation is still a Distance vs. Speed formula and that technically just means you move super fast. Like superhuman speed.

Well...technically the clone's pain would be his pain, right? So there's really no point in not remembering something like that, such as said pain and the event that led to it.
