Wow! Those are amazing!

I wonder how they do it? Maybe they record it using a camera that records in a stupidly high frame per second, and then take stills from it.

Or they have a camera that takes a lot of pictures per second.

Very interesting.

D3V 2008-01-17 10:21 AM

I'm going to assume it's a camera with a ridiculously fast shutter speed and they take the best shots from each, my new camera I got my girlfriend from christmas has a 10 second period where it'll take around 60+ shots and you can sort through which still you want, they're basically the same principle.

WetWired 2008-01-17 10:49 AM

At CES someone demoed a camera that can take 1200FPS

Lenny 2008-01-17 11:08 AM

Jaysus. That's a hell of a camera. I'm surprised I didn't pick up on it when I was going through all the headlines.

Can you remember who made it?

-Spector- 2008-01-17 01:34 PM

Wow, I wish my video games ran at 1200FPS :(

Badass pics though.

D3V 2008-01-17 02:12 PM

At first I thought maybe they had dumped a bucket of water out on the roof or something, and the effect of it falling had made it curl, but it's very odd.

I'll try and dig up more of these, I had a TON more but can't seem to find them :( maybe saved on the laptop at home.

*Edit* Here are just a few, amazing what sweet technological advances we've made in time so that we can still-frame and even use uber-fast shutters on our cameras..

This is a huge picture so here's direct link to it.

Okay, here's a few more, i'll try and get a gob more once I get home tonight, or atleast around time for the weekend.

Thanatos 2008-01-17 02:31 PM

Where the hell did you find all these?

Grav 2008-01-17 02:42 PM

These same images frequently (by that I mean weekly, over and over) make the rounds on sites such as digg.

D3V 2008-01-18 06:26 AM

Actually I looked the last half or so up online. They're really amazing.., figured i'd share with you guys...

Thanatos 2008-01-18 06:55 AM

Well +1 if I could. Those pictures are amazing.

D3V 2008-01-18 07:06 AM

I'm still debating in my head what that very first one is, it looks like possibly frozen water? That's what i'm sure most would agree, but if you look in the background it just looks more-so like it was in motion when the picture was taken... hmph.

Thanatos 2008-01-18 07:13 AM

What the hell's going on here?

D3V 2008-01-18 07:15 AM

I honestly couldn't tell you, they're all a bit freaky and throw you off when they're in still motion like that. That looks like maybe hands under a faucet or something and the water going back up into a cone somewhat? Damn i'm probably way off, very cool looking though.

WetWired 2008-01-18 07:50 AM

They were holding a balloon filled with water and popped it. A common "let's try out my new slow-mo camera" senario.

D3V 2008-01-18 07:57 AM

Ah yes, god observation WW you da man.

KagomJack 2008-01-19 12:25 AM

I love pictures like that.

D3V 2008-01-19 03:52 PM

I used to have a folder full of these and now here, at home I can't seem to find any of them, errggh!! Oh well, i'm sure they'll turn up eventually.

D3V 2008-01-29 08:06 AM

here's actually a few photos from our recent trip to honduras/belize city ...

D3V 2008-02-13 07:58 AM

Here's a few more!

Actually suprised to have all of these, such awesome pictures, there are more-so associated with... pain .. rofl.

Enjoy!

Thanatos 2008-02-13 08:37 AM

FUCK that last one.

Adrenachrome 2008-02-20 04:26 PM

I wish it was a 1911.. :(

edit- and FUCK THAT LAST ONE

D3V 2008-03-13 10:22 AM

Here's a few more shots, not necessairily action shots, but still cool.

-Spector- 2008-03-13 02:03 PM

Ditto.

This one made me laugh for some reason. And think the word "Fucked."

D3V 2008-03-17 02:37 PM

I just noticed something in that bike picture It almost looks like blood is coming out in a very light mist or something, maybe he caught his arm on a handlebar or something, but if you look above his left elbow's pad you can see a trace of it, or atleast to me it looks like something.

D3V 2008-03-18 09:05 AM

Here's a few more shots, these are all real and located around the world, "Amazing Holes" for the most part. Take a look!

-Spector- 2008-03-18 02:39 PM

Those are some big ass holes.

::edit:: Ahahaha, "ass holes"

Lenny 2008-05-14 07:18 AM

A thunder storm engulfs the erupting Chaiten Volcano in southern Chile:

Thanatos 2008-05-14 07:21 AM

That is one of the most badass pictures I've ever seen.

D3V 2008-05-14 08:51 AM

That is a very excellent shot, lenny.

Here's a few more to continue the 'storm' theme.

-Spector- 2008-05-19 02:31 PM

Lenny that shot is fucking awesome.

Funny thing - In the picture below,(That D3V posted) almost all of the adults are leaning back trying not to get hit and there's a baby actually reaching OUT! lol

Oh and her dad is like hey I'll put my hand on your head to pretend like I care at the moment.

*Look at the lower center of the picture.

Coffeedagger 2008-05-19 02:39 PM

lol look at the one guy above the victim he look like he's thinking, "hey check this out. that guy's face is smashed, lol"

Asamin 2008-05-19 02:44 PM

Lol. Your right. And by the way. Fuck that horn in the leg pic!

D3V 2008-05-20 11:25 AM

There's a show on Discovery called Time Warp that's all about this kind of stuff. It's pretty damn awesome.
