Playoff picks?

Definite good idea if you guys ask me, It may be a little bit limited after the first week but it would still be great fun to decide them after we get going, what do you guys think?

Thanatos 2007-12-19 06:49 AM

You know I'm in.

D3V 2007-12-19 07:09 AM

We'll probably be able to get a spread-sheet from NFL.com maybe by next week with maybe 2 fill-in's, because we already know what it looks like, for the most part.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 07:46 AM

Colts all the way baby!

And I'm fully anticipating Jacksonville beating NE should they play each other.

HandOfHeaven 2007-12-19 08:53 AM

I think that the Cowboys can knock NE out in the Super Bowl.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 08:58 AM

Cowboys already lost to NE this season. It wasn't really a blowout, but NE dominated them.

And there's a problem with your statement: NE will not make it to the Superbowl.

Did you not even recognize any of the clips from their last game against the Eagles. The Eagles of all teams put it to them and beat them out, the Cowboys definately took a definite hit, but it's not going to happen, and how the seeding works, like Thanatos said, NE will not make it to the superbowl, they'd have to go through the Jaguars and then Indy, it won't happen.

*edit: I take that back, they'd have to go against either Pittsburg or Cleveland, and then play the winner of Jags vs Indy. Wow, i'm so ready for the playoffs!

Thanatos 2007-12-19 09:53 AM

I'm sort of confused as to how this is all going to work out. The Colts have a first round bye so we'd play the winner of Pitt/Jax? And NE would play the winner of SD/Cleveland?

Get these last 2 weeks out of the way so we can start already!

HandOfHeaven 2007-12-19 10:03 AM

I'm disregarding both of your statements merely because you are backing up your main teams and *think* they are going to beat NE. NE is going to win all but the Super Bowl. Cowboys will win it. I'm entitled to this opinion, and there is no swaying me toward your views. Get over it. People can think differently than you and not be wrong.

D3V 2007-12-19 10:33 AM

Us partaining our viewpoints and backing them up with some references is greater than just saying 'x' team is going to the Superbowl.

The Patriots are just as vunerable as any other team in the league, I wouldn't be suprised if Miami gives them hell in this weekend's game, just watch.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 11:03 AM

Waaaaaahhhhhh waaaaaahhhhhh

Whine more please.

D3V 2007-12-19 11:12 AM

I'm so excited, just need to get these next two weeks out of the way. Actually, I'd be frightened, Houston may come with an upset in mind this weekend for Indy, they've gotten pretty hot, even though I think they're out of the playoff picture.

As for the Jaguars, wouldn't mind a nice rout of Oakland, but i'll be optimistic if we can just walk away with another 'W'.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 11:15 AM

Eh, I'm not too worried. We're playing both of our last 2 games at home. I'm always pretty confident when we play teams in the RCA Dome. It's a totally different atmosphere than facing teams on the road.

And, hell, Oakland gave us some trouble last week, so I'd watch it!

HandOfHeaven 2007-12-19 11:42 AM

Tom Brady is dominating and so is the Patriots offense. No matter how good a defense is, their offense will never get shut down.

There, evidence. You guys are just pissed because the teams you like aren't as good as NE.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 11:52 AM

Why don't you get some football knowledge before you walk in here acting like Mr. Know-It-All?

Last week, the JETS contained NE's offense. Tom Brady was 14/27 with 140 yards and 1 INT. NE's offense scored just one touchdown courtesy of L. Maroney's running game. If the Jets had a decent offense, they would have won. The Jets fucking blow. NE is beatable. The Ravens had the Patriots beat if their idiot D coordinator didn't call a timeout at the last second.

It's okay, though, you're not a real NE fan, just one of the many bandwagoners that flock to every team that does good each year. Shows your true colors, I guess.

You guys analyze things too critically. Don't make assumptions and I won't get pissed off at you. Assholes. Go burn in hell.

Dude, you came in saying

Which is an assumption on your behalf to begin with, don't be a dork; as well, no need to flame here we're just discussing FOOTBALL, if it's too hard to take, then don't post in here.

HandOfHeaven 2007-12-19 01:12 PM

That's not an assumption, that's a prediction. I was mainly talking about you guys making assumptions as to how I came up with what I typed.

No, you ASSUMED that the Cowboys would beat them, you didn't go to the extent of predicting the outcome, there is a difference.

Nonetheless, I don't feel the reason getting upset of a bandwagoning soccer fan trying to rave about NFL teams.. Lmao @ myself.

Thanatos 2007-12-19 01:43 PM

Meh. I just think it's comical when you come in here and start flaming mine and D3V's teams when you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I mean, it's pretty easy to decipher that you're only pretending to know jack shit about the NFL.

Titusfied 2007-12-20 06:57 AM

Alright, I just perused through most of these posts, but there are a few things I need to say.

The Cowboys aren't that great, as shown by the Eagles beating them last week. Maybe it was an off game, but if you can have an off game like that, who knows whats going to happen in the playoffs? Secondly, the Jets ALWAYS play the Patriots tough, it's just a good rivalry, especially now. But don't forget that the Jets stadium had freezing weather, snow, and 40+ MPH wind gusts, so getting ANY offense together was difficult. I wouldn't say the Jets locked down the Pats at all, but normal atmospheric conditions did.

D3V 2007-12-20 06:59 AM

The ravens smacked them around too, it just takes the right game-plan against them..

Titusfied 2007-12-20 07:02 AM

That's any team man. They're obviously the best in the league, and anyone that might beat them is going to have to catch them on an off day and they are going to have to play their A-game. If anyone thinks differently, then they're just a homer, not a realist.

D3V 2007-12-20 07:04 AM

I hate Miami, and feel they still have a realistic chance. You are right though, a win for either team depends more on each side than it does their opponent.

Thanatos 2007-12-20 07:31 AM

So you're saying that NE's poorly offensive performance was based solely on the weather and had nothing to do with the Jets defense? I'm not buying it.

D3V 2007-12-26 10:14 AM

Well we're very close to knowing exactly what team will be where, the Jags going against Pittsburg is a very likely scenario, but things do change. I'm so excited for the Playoffs now after seeing the domination the Jaguars have displayed out of the past games, (winning 6 of the last 7 games, and two being playoff teams, and maybe 3 (tennessee))).

This end-season football play is shaping up to become very exciting :)

Thanatos 2007-12-26 10:21 AM

Jaguars ARE doing good as of late. I hope you guys somehow end up playing New England in the 2nd round; I think you can beat 'em.

Looks like the Colts are going to rest their starters this Sunday vs. Tennessee. You don't see the Gaytriots resting THEIR starters do ya? They've got EVERYTHING locked up.. home-field advantage, first round bye, etc etc and they're still going to go balls to the wall vs. the Giants? I really hope somebody on the Giants D fucks Brady up. They'll be gunning for him, that's for sure.

Either way, GO COLTS!!

Titusfied 2007-12-26 11:21 AM

The problem with resting your starters is that they are now going to be off the field for like 3 straight weeks until they play again in the playoffs. Yes, you'll be rested, but you may also be rusty..

Thanatos 2007-12-26 11:26 AM

Very true. I believe that's why the Colts lost to the Steelers a couple years ago in the 2nd round.

The Patriots don't care about that, though. They just want that undefeated season. It's all about the stats and records to them. Prediction for the NE@NYG game: Brady targets Moss more than anyone else so Moss breaks Jerry Rice's single-season TD record. Brady throws for 3+ touchdowns so he can beat Manning's single-season TD record. Trust me, they want all the glory.

HandOfHeaven 2007-12-26 10:39 PM

Cowboys knock off NE in the Super Bowl.

Titusfied 2007-12-27 10:16 AM

Dallas will get smoked either way. They are fraudulicious to the tenth degree. Green Bay will be the representatives from the NFC.

I honestly don't care about the Patriots going for all the glory. I personally think it would be pretty damn cool to see history like this get made in my lifetime, in the same season. Wild shit, yo.

D3V 2007-12-27 11:01 AM

Yeah really, people get too caught up in the politics of the game to really sit back and think of how great a situation this is for our Era, it probably won't happen again for a long time, and i'm sure the Patriots will fall eventually once their players start wanting more money for their efforts.

Titusfied 2007-12-28 11:25 AM

I'm desperately hoping for Brady to throw Moss 4 TDs tomorrow, which would guarantee a perfect season, Brady having the record, and Moss too. I think it's like 2 needed for Brady to break Peyton's record, and 3 for Moss to break Rice's record, but 4 would be better than simply beating it by 1 in each category.

Thanatos 2007-12-28 11:29 AM

Brady AND Moss only need 1 touchdown to tie, and 2 to break each individual record.

goddamn patriots.. bleh

Thanatos 2007-12-31 07:55 AM

Well they did it. Bleh.

So what's everybody think now of the playoff situation? Who's gonna win, who's gonna lose, etc etc.

By the way: check out this hit from last night's Colts game. http://youtube.com/watch?v=FFxNfICa2xM

DAMN.

Titusfied 2008-01-01 05:02 PM

Nice hit. I hate your team for laying down, only because I wanted to see the Browns finally make the playoffs.. They were a good story in the NFL this year.

klo 2008-01-01 05:39 PM

patriots?

I'm also pretty pissed about that. I'd rather the Colts play the Browns in the playoffs than the Titans anyway, I'm not really sure why we gave them a free ticket. We had freakin 3rd stringers in there. Oh well. That's Tony Dungy for ya.
