Question: Flying Spaghetti Monster tattoo?

I'm seriously considering getting one, however I'm not sure where I should put it.

http://www.rhodes.edu/biology/hill/h...ti_Monster.jpg

So the question is:

Should I do it? If so, where should I put it?

EDIT: Put a better picture, the last one was fucking huge.

D3V 2007-10-18 11:49 AM

Well being an idiot, this tattoo will fit you accordingly, i'd say put in on your back and let the noodles go across the entire backside.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 11:51 AM

Now now, D3v, no flaming outside of the flame forum.

Do you even know anything about the Flying Spaghetti Monster? I'm not wanting to do it because it's a silly image, it does have meaning.

Demosthenes 2007-10-18 12:04 PM

I would say do it definitely. That would be mad props. I'd probably put it somewhere it's not easy to see, though. You wouldn't want that to negatively affect you in the future. The back sounds like a good idea to me.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 12:06 PM

I think I should get the pirates VS global warming graph done on my chest.

ROFL. It's a fad, though. It will die out. Nobody's going to remember it in the future. Do you really want that on your chest the rest of your life? If you ever have a new girlfriend, is that what you want her to see the first time you get physical?

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 12:11 PM

I wouldn't really get the graph done, that's a bit too much. I am, however, pretty much sure I want to get the Flying Spaghetti Monster done. Maybe even have "Touched by his noodley apendage" or whatever written around it in a circle.

Not worth trying, MJ.

Then again, I doubt he'll troll you like he trolls me.

D3V 2007-10-18 12:50 PM

I just wiki-pedia searched it and just seems like a joke.

I have been touched by his noodly appendage.

rAmen.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 12:55 PM

But it is a joke with meaning.

And I absolutely love it when Christians (and probably other religions) dismiss it as nonsense. It's pretty funny, because Christianity is just as silly as FSM.

Last night in class we were talking about religion, and the teacher actually listed FSM as a religion along with Christianity and blah blah. Half of the people in the class didn't even know what it was, so she was explaining it. She mentioned the decline in pirate population Vs global warming and one guy (a mormon) mentioned that piracy has increased by 200% in the past 10 years or whatever. Then he said that this disproves FSM and you could just feel this big mental "high five" that all of the religious people in the class gave each other. It was almost sickening.

Really, if you claim victory over something like FSM, you've gotta be damn insecure about your religion. The fact that he went as far as to say that he was actually disproving it shows that.

Demosthenes 2007-10-18 12:59 PM

You know, I've seen newspapers mistaking it for an actual religion as well, and portraying it as that.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 01:00 PM

Well, I guess you could say it IS a religion. There are followers. There's a "leader prophet." There's a holy text. It shows all of the signs of a typical religion.

HandOfHeaven 2007-10-18 01:09 PM

Put that shit on the inside of one of your arms.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 01:11 PM

I'll put it on my peener.

Or better yet, I could just have them turn my nuts into a flying spaghetti monster. I think that might work. He DOES have 2 meatballs as a large part of his mass.

Grav 2007-10-18 01:13 PM

This is pretty much a terrible idea. Just get a FSM poster and be done with it.

D3V 2007-10-18 01:14 PM

I would just compare this to 'jedi' as a religion, not christanity. Christanity gives people hope and faith to live their lives by better, this FSM is meerly just a joke as the concept it's just trying to immitate other religions..

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-18 01:19 PM

It's pointing out how rediculous other religions are.

Yes, Christianity does help some people live happier lives. They also believe in absolute bullshit and have to follow all sorts of rules to be a "good" Christian. I've seen religion also screw up a lot of peoples lives.

The only religion I really know of that is purely helpful in living a better life is Buddhism. Now, I don't know everything about all religions, so this is merely my opinion and you're free to disagree with me. However, in Buddhism, you do not have to believe in a God, you do not have to submit to his Will. You don't have to worship prophets.

Religion might have some good elements but it also has some very, very bad ones. A LOT of wars have been over religion. A LOT of people have died in the name of religion. A LOT of people have killed in the name of religion. Is it really worth it?

I guess what I'm pretty much trying to say is that religion is the best example of the phrase "Ignorance is Bliss." Yeah, I could live my life believing in a God for absolutely no reason in the hopes that when I die I'll be a lot better off than I was in my life, that I'll be "reborn" into a happier life. As long as I do what the Church says I should do.

I'd rather not be ignorant and not be happy.

D3V 2007-10-18 01:24 PM

Well of course, Religion though has caused so many wars because of how long it has been around, the basis of religion has been around for as long as mankind can date back. Causing wars because of it is just human nature playing out it's course and using that as an excuse because they don't like somebody who is different.

You're killing each other fighting over whose imaginary friend has the bigger ethereal penis.

DaFrigginDoctah 2007-10-23 04:15 PM

Over your groin. Fit the meatballs to just go over your testicles. Tight.

-Spector- 2007-10-25 02:03 PM

So what exactly does this flying spaghetti mean again?

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-25 02:21 PM

Go read the Wikipedia article on it, it explains it pretty well.

Basically, it's a clever mockery of religion.

-Spector- 2007-10-25 07:16 PM

Oh, well then I'm not in favor of it :-/

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-25 08:30 PM

It's no more absurd than the Christian religion.

-Spector- 2007-10-25 09:20 PM

If you say so.

Grav 2007-10-25 09:22 PM

The only difference is time and the number of "followers."

Vollstrecker 2007-10-26 04:42 PM

An invisible old dude I guess inspires people than an invisible mound of spaghetti.

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-26 05:23 PM

I think that has something to do with the anthropic principle or something. God didn't create man in his image, man created God in their image.

Vollstrecker 2007-10-26 05:38 PM

I'm pretty sure Genesis said that God created Man in His image.

Quoting myself for context for the below quotes (King James Bible):

I'm thinking I misunderstood what you said, with the Bible quotes, but I'm not sure. It could be interpreted both ways, depending on if you Believe or not:

If you're a believer, God created man in His image.

If you're not, you're more likely to think that man created God in their image so they could identify with him and feel special.

Is that what you were saying?

!King_Amazon! 2007-10-27 11:07 AM

That is what I was saying, yes. As I believe "God" is a man-made idea, I believe man made "God" in their image, not the other way around.

Vollstrecker 2007-10-27 11:18 AM

Oh, well then I would agree with you. ^_^
