can anyone design me some artwork/sprites/battlechars/faces?
 

basically im crap at drawing and all that but im good at visualising. i can see my characters but i
cant draw them, its very frustating. anyways i would like people to design artwork for me and send it to me
so i can see which one is best and most ideal for the character.

here are some descriptions of my characters.

Varrus and Aurus. These two are members of the swiftswords. it is an elite division made up of the
finest soldiers of Lucia. Therefore they a meduim sized and well toned. However they can't be too bulky
because The Swiftswords are supposed to be fast at getting their missions done, hence the swift part.
As you may have guessed, they're preffered weapons are swords. One handed swords that are light and you
guessed it, fast/swift. Varrus has shoulder long hair that is brown in colour whereas Aurus' is short
and blonde. They both wear special Swiftsword armour. It's basically a light platemail chestpiece with
shoulder pads. It bears the Swiftsword Crest on the front which is two swords crossed. These two are
early twenties looking.

Kalia: To design Kalia you would need to have an idea of my version of titan. Titan, naturally is
a summon-beast of the earth element. he is a man shaped bull. very big and bulky. he also has hair like
a lions main. His skin is brown and he is quite hairy. If you take this image into mind whilst designing
Kalia, you should be able to create the kind of character I want to see. Because Kalia was born from
Titan. She is not a summon-beast however, as her mother is Human. So she is half and half so she is
normal human sized but has similar features to her father. Just sort of go half and half and see what
you come up with. Don't forget to cloth her though. Oh yes, she wears a hood as well, but dont go over
board making it look like shes wearing winter clothes, becuae she still needs to be good looking. A
tough task but a very good character design i think. Try and make her look early twenties.

Skarlett: Skarlet is a human born from the egg of a Pheonix. She is completely human, but has been
blessed in the powers of the Pheonix. She has quite a red appearence, so she'll have red hair, brownish-
red eyes and quite elegant looking in general. She is also quite young, so design her like a 16 year-old.
she has quite a niave bubbly personality it would be good if you could reflect this.

Legan: He is a member of the Crystalis Knights. He needs to be quite holy looking, but not quite white
mage or monk style. He is a matured man, so aim for a 30 year old look. And as him name suggests, he is
from a crystal rich area so feal free to implement this. His armour would be light armour. and he uses
a bow for a weapon but he also cast white magic.

Seth: This wizard is hundreds of years old and is lord of a Dark Citadel. However, he doesnt need to
have a ten foot long beard, nor a old foggies stick, nor a wringly rotting face. he is in very good
shape so design him looking like a 40-50 year old. some facial hair would be okay just dont go overboard.
he uses a staff, so make a nice one long enough to lean of. He is very much alive so make him look quite
strong and dominant. He would have grey hair though.

Peace: Yeah I know, but that's her name for now. Anyway basically she's like human/angel. she has angelic
wing, not big ones though, if you've ever seen the film dogma then theyre just like that. She is pale
skinned and has white hair. It is very long hair to, going down to hear chest. dont go past her lower
back though. Other than that she has a pendant around her neck. the crystal piece technically changes
from white, grey, black, blue, green and red so do whateva you thing necessary to show this.

if i choose to use your material, i will give you full credit for it and you maintain the right to withdraw youre

Wow. You're pretty good at detail. Just for that, I'll draw maybe Skarlett, Legan, and the others if you like them. One question. Are the Swiftswords both guys? I could see the blonde, short-haired on as more female. Look forward to drawing these, do you want them colored? Takes me a fair while to color and shade in photoshop, so some of them just might have rough blobs of color on them, or not stay in the lines.

anyways yea that would be great if you could, i dont mind if you dont colour them as of yet.
as for Aurus (the short haired one) being a girl, it could work well, as it would create a more dynamic love theme in the game, which i always try to do lol but yeh id have to change the name so its more femine, and also shed have to more slim and sexy u know

I did a quick scribble of skarlett with my mouse, and I like drawing her. Note I did this rushed, and the style kind of... made itself... =P I could do a more clean looking pic if you want. The armor is indeed skin-tight, didn't feel like adding plates onto it. Made her eyes a gradiated black-red, and just left her hair uncolored. Weird necklace thing huh? Added some 'artistic' mouse sweeps here and there. More?

i actually like it in a weird way hehe. well its certainly better than what i can do. yeh leather skin type armour would really suit her fighting style, which is gaunlets on the fists. but you have got the right look about her, a sort of niave young look, but you can tell that she can kiss your ass! lol i like it thanks so yeh if you could do some more that would be great!

If I could draw, then I'd think about giving these a shot... but, unfortunately, I can't draw to save my life from toffee, which isn't to say I can't try, though. :p

I like the descriptions, quite thorough.

As for "Peace", 'Nadine' is a good name. At least, I've always liked it. :p

I can draw... but using a mouse to do it is way too hard. That's why I like the pic of Skarlett I made, it's one of my better full-mouse sketches. I did that one in flash, I like the brushes they have to offer, they perk up a normally boring pic. I'll do Aurus next, I hardly ever draw women, It's nice practice to get the shapes right.

well u could draw by hand if u had a scanner or a camera that u can attach to pc.
all i really need is artwork pics that i can work with to create sprites upon. if i have a pic i can usually work with it and get decent results, its just initially getting the shape and proportions right that i find hard. i should probably practice more but i have to work alot and then theres my musical career and girlfriend and mates so i dont get alot of time to myself, but i try to make as much time as possible to work on projects like these cus its jus nice to do y'no

Using a PC givees you cleaner results... But yeah, I could use my scanner. Hehe, I'll do em on the PC and then draw them in detail when I'm done. Did I mention I'm a decent spriter?

I have off from school tommorow, they decided to let us all off for Rash Hashana, or something like that. I'll get more done soon.

Musical career? Sounds sweet. I'm glad to see people interested in making games that are, should I say, older than High School? Meh, I lost touch of the actual development area a while ago, to work on my art. If I want to get a job in graphical design when I'm older, I gotta work on that, not game design... Hell, I'm barely even in High school I've got nothing to worry about. Oops trailed on.

anyways yea im only a little older vo im 18. the music career; well i play guitar and im in a local band. nothing big but you know its something, and im looking for a new job that is connected with the industry, hopefully ill get this guitar technician job i been looking into but yeh,, creating games still has something for me. i like creating stories but i find creating a game is much more fun that simply writing and its much funner for the person who plays it than a reader.

Last night I started on Aurus... She doesn't have the look I wanted for her... Oh well, I drew Skarlett and will scan, ink, color, and shade in a bit.

I used the smallest rectangular brush combined with a round or diagonal shape in Flash MX 2004. Believe me, my hand drawn work is far better, one of the reasons I make all my CG art pretty with colors and abstractedness.

About those sprites... Show more skin? I drew her fully, you'll have to see her full outfit... And I'm guessing XP? If he wants this to be pretty, bigger more colorful graphics would have to be allowed by the maker.

You're a decent spriter, just jazz it up a bit, it looks... plain? I know you could do better with a bigger template.

okay i was origanally going to use 2003 because i didnt have xp and i like the side -view battle system.
but i think xp would benefit the game more because of the more nicer graphics and stuff and i just found the download (yay!)

so yeh atnas great work im looking forward to seeing the full detail one ;)

hello phycho023 thanks for that lil snippet. its good however it doesnt work properly in XP so if you do create sprites for XP could you test them on it first to make sure its okay. and also the clothes need to be more... revealing if you like. #

i was thinking of having a realtime battle type thing going on where basically you are teleported to another map which is a battle map and it loads a creature into it and you can run around and attack it and im not sure but it seems like it could be interesting hehe

ok so ill get to work on fixing up that sprite sry about it not working on RMXP i didnt have it on the laptop so i couldnt test it but i will next time and about the running around battle type im pretty sure you can do that but i have no clue on how and i should have at least skarlett done by hopfully wednesday or thursday if i dont get to much homework and atnas one last thing u said u were using Flash MX 2004. did you download it or buy it if you downloaded it could you plz tell me where i've been looking for it for a while now thx

I downloaded it and my friend, who bought it, gave me his code. I'll see if I can find that site where it was still available.

Go to rmxp.org , it has some scripts for it. I myself am an amature scriptor, but don't get too excited, I've only written two or three scripts myself.(all of which were fairly short)

8th grade is extremely easy,(even with all the advanced classes) I get all my homework done in 11th period. I'll at least scan and ink Skarlett tommorrow.

ok so ive been working for hours and i finally got skarlett done. its not amazing because well i am new at this but its a pretty good start if i do say so myself hope you like it

thankyou the design of the character is good. it would be nice to clean up a bit but yea if u spent a long time on it i do appreciate it because i probably could do better.

current progress in the game is ive made the Swiftswords HQ, and will be working on some of the beginning cuts scenes of the game shortly.
I still need to figure out a battle system. this is where my game will be great or really bad so i have to be very careful lol.

anyways atnos i need you have a special costume for the Swiftswords to wear, so if you could draw them on both Aurus and Varrus that would be great

concerning other sprites: i would need 2-4 other swiftsword sprites, just general soldiers, then a special guard type, and a commander type (who basically is an older man and looks well hard).

i have loadsa ideas but i dont want to put to much pressure on you guys cus you've helped me a lot already and i will be giving you guys credit.

the main theme of the story is two opposing elements, peace and chaos.
i dont want to give too much away, but basically you take Varrus through a journey and he happens to save the world (Suprised? lol) but yeah I've got some kewl things going on i'm sure people wil enjoy

Thats a great name i wouldnt change it coz u cant really trust me with names lol i think by best name for a game i made was digital crises and lol the story was kinda lame it was about 3 ppl who get stuck in a virtual reality game and they have to beat it to get back to reality i never did finish that game lol i got bored now i just work with others and help them create there games lol

yea i know that feeling ive never actually finished a project. this is about the 4th version of Eternal Essence lol. i like the name so its just stuck. as with stories, well they just come to me as i'm writing. its just a matter of keep going over it to get it good. some of my character/place names have stuck to. Like Lucia has always been the name of a Kingdom. Legan (character) has always been around. Kalia was from a previous project where she was a twin with Salia, which was taken from Zelda OoT.

But anyway I have a good feeling bout this game, and with other peoples help im sure it will follow through because before i was on my own but now other people have helped and will probably expect something so i want to deliver good!

there are seven playable characters in my game at the moment. i dont feel the need for any more, but as a continously rewrite story another character or two may well pop up.

i worked on the storyline again this morning, i now have a lizardmen race in my game, which also gives me the chance to Characterize Legan earlier and give him a good reason to stay in the party.

I've also gone to work on the intro and i have the idea for what material the first demo will contain.

Psycho, man, Some of those sprites look frankensprited, or like 2k3 with extras dubbed on. Think 3d, the tip I have for ya. Also shade and make a pattern if you make your own sprites, it keeps them the same.

I spent 10 minutes on this... Tell me what you think. Do you want realistic or cartoony sprites? This one's in between... Think LoZ:WW opposed to LoZ:OoT, which one suites the story better? If there's a funny sequence in the game, you could always switch from serious to chibi. FMA does it well.

erm it looks ok i guess, considering it a plain body lol. erm i think realistic would be better. just like the style that xp defaults are.

The body is a general template for all the bodies, I think.

Get something like that made, and it's but a moments work to make the other characters.

I do the same with web pages - rather than build each page from scratch, all at the same time, I make a template that works for everything. That may take me a day or so to get absolutely right, and then it takes me little over an hour to get another, say, 10 or 15 pages made, simply by putting the content on a ready made template.

And now you're going to say that you actually see naught but a 'blank' white backgroud and make me look a fool, right? :p

Howdy smiffsta.

How's the game coming along?

its going good. its at the early stages of actual game developement now. the first part of the story is set so ill make this, and implement custom graphics as i get them. i also plan to make my own music (naturally, considering im a musician, lol) but i havent began to work on it yet. i still havent got a unique battle system idea yet so im just gonna stick with the default system for now.
i havent worked on it much the last week as i have a gig tonight so ive been busy preparing for that. but once that is out of the way ill have plenty of time to put into the project. hoping to release a demo by x-mas, even if it doesnt use custom graphics and music etc. just to show off the story and create some more interest in the project, and also so people can critise me lol
