Ramen
What is your favorite brand and flavor of block, bowl, or cup ramen (ie. not bought already cooked from a resturant)?
What is your least favorite brand and or flavor? Do you add meat or veggies to your ramen, and if so which ones? Do you add seasonings or other non-meat, non-vegetable additions to your ramen? Do you eat your ramen normally (hot, cooked, with soup base), or do you deviate from the norm in some way (ie. dry/refridgerated/cooked&drained/cooked,drained,then add soup base powder)? If/when you eat your ramen with soup base, do you drink it once the noodles are gone? Have you ever eaten enough ramen to put you off of eating ramen for months or years on end? |
I like the shrimp kind best, hate the beef kind. I don't drink it down when all them stuff is gone (too salty).
1. I've only had Chicken, Beef, Shrimp, Oriental, and Spicy chicken. I'd have to say it's a toss-up between chicken and beef as my favorite, I didn't really care for the others all that much, especially spicy chicken, it smelled like my balls.
2. Never added anything but eggs before, and I didn't care for that too much. 3. I've added salt and pepper before, depends on my mood I guess. 4. I cook it according to package directions and then drain most of the water off until there's enough to disolve the powder in. 5. Sometimes I drink it, sometimes I don't. Since I don't use much water, it's a lot stronger. 6. Yes, I was to the point where I wouldn't eat it for a few months because I was eating it once or twice a day. |
I cook it per instructions, then I drain it, add the packet, and fry it with some General Tsao's sauce.
I used to eat it alot, about four times a week. Now I eat it close to never.
Same. It got old, and there is SO much sodium in those things.

Just don't ever try "Roast Beef" flavor. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. |
I fagree with guav.

My favorite ramen is Myojo Chukazanmai miso ramen; it's expensive, but very good. It has a better flavor; the difference between this stuff and other block ramen is like the difference between fresh milk and powdered milk. I can't stand any other block ramen, though there are some bowl and cup ramens that are passable. I havn't tried adding any meat or vegetables to my ramen, but when I get shoyu flavor (usually translated oriental, for some reason) I add my own miso. I eat my ramen normally, and drink the soup when I'm finished, because it's that good. I ate cheap ramen for lunch every day for the first 6 months of employment; since then I can't stand cheap block ramen.

Chilli beef, Curry Prawn & chicken & Corn Ramen *yummo*
Chilli ramen.... ugh... bad memories.
I'll post a pic when i get the chance of my fav ramen.
It's bowl style and spicy chicken flavour. I eat it once a day. |
Spicy Vegetable
Don't like Ramen. That shit is cheap for a reason.
chicken
I had like Chicken ..something. Good stuff though, I love poor people food. RAMEN NOODLES!
Generally, only block ramen is cheap; the stuff I eat costs a bit over a dollar a package.
I'm guessing this is the American equivalent of Pot Noodles?
Ramen homepage anyone? http://mattfischer.com/ramen/ |
Ramen is a type of Japanese noodle, which is inexpensive to manufacture and quick to prepare. You can find cheap block ramen in American supermarkets for as low as $0.10 a package.
Asking for a homepage for ramen is like asking for a homepage for speggetti... |
Top Ramen is as nasty as it gets. At least buy Maruchan Ramen (or whatever that brand is). The best inexpensive block ramen that I've had is Shirukiku brand, but even that is crap compared to the stuff I get now.

I dont eat Ramen much yet maybe once a week but when i start college i bet i will probably almost live off of them.
When we've ran outta food i've actually had some Boyoun Cubes (*spelling). Pretty good, it's like soup almost...just the water part...uber salt'age.
You guys ought to have pot noodles. They come ready made!! Just add hot water.
They come in lots of different thingies... |
Oh, right. I have tried Maruchan also, but Top is usually what's around here.
Maruchan and Top are almost the exact same thing.

What is your favorite brand and flavor of block, bowl, or cup ramen (ie. not bought already cooked from a resturant)?
Beef What is your least favorite brand and or flavor? ITS FUCKING RAMEN NOODLES IT DOES NOT FUCKING MATTER IT ENDS UP IN THE SAME DAMNED PLACE but if i had to choose it would be mushroom or something Do you eat your ramen normally (hot, cooked, with soup base), or do you deviate from the norm in some way (ie. dry/refridgerated/cooked&drained/cooked,drained,then add soup base powder)? I cook it as I am told to, but then I drain all the juice and shit then add that powder and all that and mix that shit its good as hell becuase i dont get bullshit noodles with the tastey juice thats not what I shoot for. If/when you eat your ramen with soup base, do you drink it once the noodles are gone? I dont have juice once its all gone... Have you ever eaten enough ramen to put you off of eating ramen for months or years on end? Yea I havnt had it for a loooong time I used to have maybe 1-2 a day! anyways hf |
I find it interesting that noone else here seems to have a brand preference. I had figured that we would have at least one member who had experimented with different brands to find the best ones.
I think it's just because you're a nerd but that's just my opinion.
Dude.. I don't.. obsess over noodles. I just eat them.
That's not what you've told me before.
"Noodles" wasn't a crude metaphor for "dicks."
You described yourself as a "ramen fiend" and stated that you could eat it many times a day; sounds pretty obsessive to me.
Well, for a few months I ate ramen pretty frequently.. because it was affordable. 13 cents a package. I haven't eaten it in half a year or more though. So I doubt that's obsessing.
See, he says 13 cents a pack, so its probably the cheap brands.
This thread makes me kind of sad.
