Army here I come
 

So I guess this is it. I've finally resorted to joining a goverment agency...as much as I despise them, it's not all a bad rap. I need to do something w/ my life besides sit around my relatives house playing games, and my job hunting hasn't gone so well. I was thinking about the peace corps but they have alot more descrepencys when it comes to joining, and I think I'd get along alot better harming people than helping. It's easier. SYG sounded pretty happy w/ what he's got going on, and I'm sure I will be too once I get passed basic and whatever else I decide to train in...One problem though, since I've got a GED, I'm going to be limited to the jobs only the Army Reserve can get into, and out of those my options will be cut down even more...so I can only hope for something good in those options. I want to be a Military Cop, hopefully I can...if not that I guess I'll just be a grunt. Oh and no more weed! :cry: :cry: :cry:

Well considering I'm only 20, and the army is only for 4 years I'd say I've only just begun, but thanks.

Well...that sucks, man. At least I can get out of army duties on a couple of things :D

But I hope you don't get sent over to Iraq or Korea or wherever the hell they're sending people after you get through basic.

Well, it all depends on where they put me...I wouldn't mind going over there though actually. And I want to go to Italy, which would put me in the running for Iraq duty. Huh?

SYG if you read this is, do you know if its possible to smoke pot? Do you they give you periodicle drug test, or just if you get caught? I could still do shrooms though, heh, cuase they don't stay in your system for long, well I've heard mostly for 2-3 days, but from some people for like a week...

I can get out of the army on a few things: 1) I have a form of asthma which makes it hard for me to do a lot of what they do (2) I'm gay and open about it [see dont' ask don't tell policy] and (3) I have bad hips and a bad back

Anyways, SYG, I would also like to know some conditions in which one may not be drafted or enlist.

To the Army, it's the same thing. Some conditions to get out: spina bonifa (I think that's how it is spelled), asthma, bad back, bad hips, arthiritis in hips, blind, deaf, gay/bisexual, and I think almost any physical deformality will do, but I could be wrong about the latter.

So your currently in the army, or your saying that you could get out of it if you needed to? How old are you btw?

I'm saying I could get out if I needed to or if I wanted to. I'm 17 right now.

Airforce Cops are scary guys. They handle the explosive-sniffing dogs and such.

We have those guys staying at the hotel I work for all the time. Cheney's from Wyoming and he comes here on vacation several times a year. I talked with one of the officers over New Years. He was hammered drunk, and proceeded to tell me that he had enough explosive components stored in his room (for training the dog, you see) to blow up the entire block. Then he proceeded to tell me, as I was petting his rather friendly dog, that if he were to give the dog a command to kill me, I'd be dead before I hit the floor.

Yeah, intimidating people, all right.

Damn that's so tight. Ya I was thinking about being a bio-weapons specialist for obvious reasons, plus I'd get chemical suits and other equipment that would be awsome for making smoking appartus out of when I got out. But that options not open to me right now, plus I'd have to know alot about chemistry, physics, ect. and I dropped out/was to lazy to take those in highschool.

Don't know many situations where you would get a boner if you had to be wearing a chemical suit. I realize highschool is not hard to pass. But I didn't need to go to highschool. Good luck w/ being stuck in a metaphorical box your whole life proxy...

is it too late to change your mind? If not don't do the military thing. you don't wanna get killed in Iraq it would be a horrible waste of life. If it is too late then look foward to some good non homo army loving. They tell the girls that its the best sex in the world... Don't know how it is for men though.

If you want to be a bio-chemist your first step getting into it and going around all the other things is be a grunt for 2 or 3 years to show you want to be there. Then join an explosives division. This is the hard part. After about 10 or so years in an explosives company you'll have a 80% chance of working on biological weaponry. Either way as soon as you get into explosives you get to work with that kind of stuff.

You guys think the chemical suit is that advanced? its just a pair of thick pants and jacket that are waterproof and have this black chemical stuff in the lining inside that prevents chemicals from passing through, and the mask sucks ass, when I went through the cs gas chamber in basic, the gas was seeping through the edges around the mask and I could hardly breath, plus when I exited the chamber and took my mask off I had snot running from my nose to the ground... if we ever got hit by a chemical or biological attack, we would die for sure

Actually it's not to late, I took the ASVAB wich I got like a 89 on(it was easier than the online pretest) and thats as far as I am. Everyone I'm talking to now is telling me not to do it...My uncle is trying to get me a job at the IRS, inputing info into computers. lol, hes like its better than the service...i haven't ever done my taxes.

That's great! I ain't someone who you gotta listen too but I say don't do it. You'll definatley find the right job for you... just don't give up on the search.
If you resorted to this due to immediate financial troubles then why not take your uncle's job? I think it would be better than military life.

Hey man you got a high asvab score you could be a 74B... a computer programmer for the army. after basic you get to goto Fort Gordon Goergia for AIT I had alot of 74b friends, that place isnt that bad either, after about 4 weeks of ait youll be able to stay offbase all weekend and party. Also if you goto fort gordon youll have to goto the shoppette near Gym 4 and tell me the leader board on the Soul Calibur 2 machine, I wanna make sure Im still # 1
