To join the development team, all you need to do is send an e-mail to
[email protected] with either
a) a small zip file showing moderate programming skills.
b) a sample image made with MSPaint, IDraw3, D-Pixed or IrfanView.
c) a sample or full game script detailing the surroundings and characters.
d) a small zip file with a few sample maps (preferably MacandBlue chipsets.

If you have any questions or comments, e-mail the teamleader at:
[email protected]
(Submissions to this address will not be viewed.)

(More info on the first game we make.)

The game is called Syugen 3. Although the game is the third installment it is the first for RM2K3/RMXP.

The story is set in 1245 BD(Bi-pedal Dominance).
The world is all tropicals, rainforests, grassy fields, and mountains. Your typical story-driven RPG. Set on an island in the southern hemisphere for those of you who like to draw maps.

If you are a writer go ahead and start making storys or plotlines. I need names of countrys, descriptions of towns for Aurvian and character names and descriptions.

Items and skills should be included, too, please.

If you are making a story for the game, send and email to [email protected], and tell me your ideas before you waste time writing somethinjg we can't accept. It's happened before.

Send in a basic text format. NO ATTACHMENTS UNLESS SPECIFIED BY ME!

I am surprised you dont need any webdesigner for your team

BlueCube 2004-11-05 09:48 AM

I also like that there's absolutely no mention of the version of RPG Maker he's planning on using..

Edit: He fixed it.

Lenny 2004-11-05 10:24 AM

Is that supposed to be sarcastic or am I in a morbid mood again???

----------

Sounds like fun. But what type of games are gonna be made???

Draco2003 2004-11-11 06:15 PM

I can do the animation, for like cutscenes and intro and ending. It will be in Flash, if that's all right. I am learning Maya, so I could do stuff like Shrek or simple stuff like South Park. I need to find Adobe After Effects, or other similar particle program(for magics, fire, and other neat effects). I do everything in Anime style, because I can't stand taking the time to put in all kinds of detail in a hand or body for something that won't be worth $999,999,999,999,999,999,999,999 or more. Besides, I like the simpicity, yet complexity of anime and it's ability to take the hardest, meanest, baddest mofo you can find and turn him into a big baby with very few modifications. Anyways, yeah, so...can I be on your team?

Well... I've never heard of people doing things in flash for RM2K3, maybe RMXP but it would be better if all cutscenes/intros/endings be in *.avi .

If you could get AviMaker from www.rpgwolfpack.com and use it. I know asking you to do it frame by frame is hard, but if Aurvian is a good concept artist then you should do fine. Remember, your support will be and is appreciated.

Lenny 2004-11-15 10:19 AM

Wed, which RPG Maker are you using???

Also, as far as I can tell, and other members of the forum, it is not possible to have movie type things in RMXP.

BlueCube 2004-11-15 10:32 AM

Good catch, you're right about that one. There's no movie option in XP because Enterbrain didn't want to recode that in or something..

Of course you can always do FRAME BY FRAME PNG FILES ISN'T THAT LOVELY

Though he does say he's going for RM2k3, so that's good at least.

Wait a minute, is your avatar smaller? What gives???

hate PNG's. They are so damn stubborn. And when you get it right, the program goes off sulking, and won't let you ex/import it.

mail virus

Hey bluecube is it possible to find out who all sent mail my two email addresses(backstar + wed_g). For some reason my wed_g email had a virus attached to it sent from backstar and my backstar had one sent from [email protected]

i deleted them though.

BlueCube 2004-11-18 06:09 PM

It's most likely just a random bot, or else someone has a virus on their machine which read the email address in the webpage (or their contact list if they added you), and sent a random email to you. The fact that it's from "someone" at cs.tri means that it's probably just a spoofed return address.

--

Edit: Wait, you essentially sent got messages sent from one account to the other? That really sounds like either you have a virus and it sent one out to your contact list (which included the wed_g address) or someone simply added you and it got spoofed that way, by reading one email address and spoofing as another contact. I doubt it was intentional, bah. I'll see if there's any recent threats..

---

Edit 2: Hah, there's a new DOS virus for some reason. Anyway, can you remember the subject line of the email at all? (It might be still in your trash, if you forgot)

Wed-G 2004-11-21 02:18 PM

it said "my details" and "my bill"

BlueCube 2004-11-21 03:08 PM

That's one of the Netsky variants. Someone has the Netsky virus and reads the forums - they'd have to have your email address in a text file or something, because Netsky scans the hard drive for .txt / .doc / other random extensions for email addresses.

You're probably not the one with the virus, but I'd do a quick checkup to be sure.

Symantec's Netsky scanner/removal tool -

I already had that. No files found...

BlueCube 2004-11-22 10:46 AM

Then it's just someone who happened to write down your email in Notepad or something and the virus picked that up and sent itself to you. Nothing much to do here, I'm afraid.

Wed-G 2004-11-22 03:04 PM

Thanx

I'm not quite sure. I could make a website in Publisher, Word, or Excel, but
I wouldn't know what to call it.

Our team name is "Backstar Productions" but that sounds more like a company than a game development company.

I'll take any suggestions.

Edit: Check it out... I got an Avatar... *Sarcasticly* Whoo hoo!

hmm? names are hard to create I could use Zorn Rm2k Tool if you want just give me a list of some words you think are cool and ill let the machine auto put them togather O yea anyone whos on the team give me your AIM name until we get a site up

Draco2003 2004-11-26 11:11 AM

Hey Wed-G, have you got a company logo yet? We gotta have a logo to put on the game, cause its just not a real game without a cool logo.

Tyrannicide 2004-11-26 11:14 AM

Damn, I was wondering the same thing.
Let me know when you want me to start the site, ehich wont be for a long time.
I can make some custom stuff, such as a time and date system using custom graphics. A world map can be created, graphics for when you enter a town instead of a text box saying what town your by. I can do neat stuff like that for you. I can help with character creation(if needed. includes history, etc) and the story(working together, say over mIRC).

Tyrannicide 2004-11-26 11:30 AM

- Trinex Soft (Entertainment)
- Gamex Production
- Insight Entertainment/Production
- TruX Productions/Entertainment

Small idea's.

Draco2003 2004-11-26 11:31 AM

I got an idea for the layout of the web page! Make it like the world map of the game, and instead of say Rygokk town, it will be the Email page! Then the Email page will look like the town, and the inn will say "Email Wed-G" and the shop could say" Email Tyrannicide" or something similar! just a thought!

Tyrannicide 2004-11-26 12:17 PM

Nice, but that will require the page have a image as the background which increases loading times greatly, unless the image was low quality.

We should do voice overs for the cutscenes instead of text showing up.

Lenny 2004-11-26 12:45 PM

All this sounds really exiting. And now my childish instincts have kicked in...I wanna join! Waaah!

----------

I got loads of ideas for stories, yet I don't find the time to make them. I plan them out, hell I've got a little notebook full of shit for each game, and all they are doing is gathering dust. Kinda depressing really. I'll root them out, type them up, and give Backstar the game rights, maybe.

Draco2003 2004-11-26 02:25 PM

It could be a Backstar Production
Developed by Undead Developments
Created in part by Zelaron Crew
with Special Thanks to Our Moms for letting us fiddle with this kinda stuff, and our dads for forking over the $600 needed for the computer. Our friends for....Ah well you get the idea!
LOL:haha: j.a.t

Lenny 2004-11-27 03:47 AM

You forgot:

In Association with Lenco. Productions. You gotta include Lenco. Productions.

Aurvian 2004-11-27 12:56 PM

wait if we have to include that then im still with FS Productions I cant abandon FS .... well actually I can but .... I leave ty there to dry

Lenny 2004-11-28 04:33 AM

??? I don't get the last bit. Oh well. You could be freelance and work for whoever will take you. IN this case, Both FY and Backstar. No?

I wasn't able to check the forum over Turkey Day, but, I am back.

To all your questions-

1.) I do have a kickass logo for our site/game team. Although, I cannot release it at the time. I will include it in a demo version of my custom battle engine to anyone who is on our team. (Auruvian I'll email it to you by Thursday. I get San Andreas Tuesday so I might not be up much.)

2.) I have decided on a name: BladeStar Productions. (Lots of stars in our name because of the logo.)

3.) Yes, Lenny... you can join. What do you want to do? I liked the stories you sent me. But, unfortunately, we cannot use them at the time. (Very well written.

And to anyone who is writing a story-

The main characters name might be Neru Araké.
The reason why I want to use this name is because of a 'Created Language' I am developing for the game.

Anybody I left out?

Oh yeah. STOP EMAILING VIRUSES TO ME! Anybody that sends one will be track (using my own software ^^ ) and will be reported to the FEDS!

And to anyone who email's me about my age... ladies... I'm 15 and a freshman in high school.

I hope you're kidding here because these things are automatically sent without the knowledge of the person who's infected (as I've said). Not to mention the spoofed headers and such.. Good ol' SMTP, you never actually verify a sender at any point. I HATE YOU SMTP I HATE YOU SO MUCH

That's what you unfortunately get for posting your email in plain text on the INTERNET - spam and viruses.

Lenny 2004-12-01 09:43 AM

I'll try writer of sorts.

Btw, what happened to Backstar Productions???

----------

What type of games etc. are you thinking of creating?

I know that it was my fault for putting my email up, but what is the use of programming your own 'hacking' program if you can't use it. I HATE ASCII(the programing code, not the people who made RPGMaker.)... oh yeah AND DAMN YOU C++! Good thing I'm not stupid enough to open them... yeah...

BackStar was a weird name, but not like BladeStar is any better. I hate the names I create. BladeStar sounds like it is from Sailor Moon  .

I want to make serious games. Ones that Veteran RPGTeams make. I have been programming with RPGMaker since Don Miguel translated RM2K. From there on I just excelled in skill learning everything from other games. From there I read tutorials and learned that way until now, I make my own engines.

Tyrannicide 2004-12-02 06:27 PM

Yea, Blackstar is better. If you want suggestions, read my post earlier on.

When Don translated RM2K I was excited as fuck and when I heard he wasn't translating RM2K3 I was depressed, luckily RPG Advocate stepped in though.

Serious games. Righto. Erm...any elements you are partucularly looking for? Anything that screws up one's emotions big time and keeps them playing on end to see what happens? That keeps them awake at night when they are not playing it? That enters there dreams? Real deep characters? Clever use of the language involved --> sentences etc. that imply things completely different to the actual meaning? Ambiguity at every turn???

I'll try and give it a shot.

One little thing. I'm not that good with names.

I made the following for a game, that is still in development hell:

Azrael
Domonovic Okionovic
(the 'c''s are pronounced more as 'sh', the only attempt I have ever tried to make a Russian sounding name)
Damien
Boris
Nadine
Yoku-Hoji
Fei-Lin
Nifeneger
Alissa

You never know. If you ask Wed nicely, he may create a new position, you know like, Games Guru, or Help Database, or even Honourary Question Answerer.

----------

I was gonna add something else then, but I've forgotten what I was gonna add. Hmm...

----------

Ah yes, that's it.

The stories. There are lots of fantasy books out there with amazing story lines. An idea I've had since I became interested in these books, is that games could be made, based upon the books.

A book I have recently read, I don't know if anyone has heard of it, though it is an American book --> "Lord Valentine's Castle" by Robert Silverberg, is a great book, with weird twists in it that might be good to try as a game.

I can't find a good site about it, but the official site is www.majipoor.com I think.

Other great books, include those by Terry Goodkind, and...can't remember. I've read so many, I can't remember the authors. I'll remember later.

Oh oh, "Troll Fell" by Katherine something.

I don't know, try get them from somewhere.

----------

Ha, sounds more like an advertising page, oh well.

Draco2003 2004-12-07 07:01 PM

I've had that same thought, but haven't read many books that come across as great games. I read a book called "Pool of Radiance" and that's what gave me the idea, but unfortunately, I haven't had the time due to making my own game. And by now, i've forgotten almost the entire story. And I lost the book. I AM AN IDIOT!!! Anyways, about this thing, has anyone started anything? I am currently in the process of writing the story, but need to know the names of specific charaters (main characters, villians, towns, worlds, continents, islands, anything you can name) that you want me to put in immediatley. Otherwise, you'd have to wait and read the story, then tell me the names and i'll add them accordingly or if you have any ideas. Also, I need personalities for the early characters. If you can e-mail those to me, that's be great. Thanks.

P.S. Hey, blue, how would you like to be the dude that teaches you stuff in the game? because I was thinkin that when you get a new menu item (as you know, most games unlock menu items as you progress rather than all available at once) and then your character could teach it to them. And you could live on an island by yourself or with 50 chicks. Then if they need to know something valuble or need help, they can visit your character. Whaddya say?
