Superman Returns!
From IGN.com
October 20, 2004 - The wait is over. It is official: relatively unknown actor Brandon James Routh has been selected to succeed the late Christopher Reeve as the next big-screen Superman for Warner Brothers and director Bryan Singer. Although both Variety and The Hollywood Reporter reveal that no deal has been finalized, Singer himself has apparently confirmed the casting of the 25-year-old, 6'2" Iowan... ...Singer said that "this was indeed the official casting as of just today. He went on to elaborate on his previous intention of casting an unknown, and that Routh was amazing talented. He said that he personified the 3 characters he would have to embody: 1. young Clark Kent 2. Clark Kent's "Daily Planet disguise" and 3. Superman." Here are a few pics of the next Superman for you. lol he kinda looks like christopher reeve in the second pic
yay, i like superman
For those of you who are unaware, Bryan Singer, the man directing Superman Returns, was the director of both of the recent X-Men films. He left X-Men to pursue the new Superman movie.
Bryan Singer is awesome. Question about him leaving the X-Men movies though, is he still going to do a third or aren't they doing one at all? If they do, better be by him or it won't be quite the same.
The third one will be directed by someone else entirely. IGN mentioned the name of the guy, and I honestly can't remember who it was. This new Superman movie is going to keep Singer tied up until 2006, and Marvel isn't going to wait for him.
There's a Wolverine spin-off in the works also, but it's being brought into question whether or not Hugh Jackman will play the lead role in it. Honestly, I can't see anyone else playing Logan. I'm not a huge X-Men fan, but if they brought someone else in, even I would be livid. |
well this means superman should be impressive but im scared for x-men
He looks hispanic in the first pic. :(
I don't like him.
He doesn't look right for Superman, IMO. |
or is it maybe you are use to a look like christopher reeve like i am use to a look like pierce bronsan for james bond and if someone changes for him or if i see old movies of james bond, i still think pierce bronsan is the better person for james bond
I haven't seen any Superman movies/etc since I was like 10. He just doesn't look right.
His facial structure, I mean... |
So you chexxxin him out, niga.
Anyways, sucks to see that xmen is abandoned. Oh well |
X-Men isn't abandoned, Singer just isn't helming it anymore. The rumors going around are that Joss Whedon, the cretor of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, will be directing X3.
never cared for that show but i guess im not a big tv watcher. I just hope this guy can continue with another good movie.
I agree... He needs a larger upper body to be superman. Maybe some more hair.
I was thinking his jaw line looked all kinds of wrong, as an addition. :x
Personally, I think he looks perfect for the role.
He's certainly a much better choice than Nicholas Cage or Jim Caviezel (Jesus, from The Passion of the Christ). They were the two biggest names being thrown around most recently. |
Okay. The least of 3 evils?
He wins out of those choices. |
Jesus as batman...
O_O heh. |
He's the best contender for Superman that I've ever seen. Seriously, can you think of anyone better? I can think of a small handful of actors that might be able to do it, and they still don't feel right. Brendan Fraser, Jerry O'Connell, and a young Bruce Campbell are the only ones that spring to mind, and none of them genuinely feel right because they already have established character identities.
Some of the other contenders for the role, a year or two ago, were Jake Gyllenhall, Ashton Kutcher and that guy from the WB show Roswell. Seriously, take a good look at the future Superman, because he's a hell of a lot better than anybody else. I can't think of a single actor who seems more fit for the part, and I'm willing to bet that nobody else can either. |
Chainsaw hand!! Yeaaaaa!
Superman with a chainsaw hand would be too much cool to absorb.
I wonder if S-Mart was actually some kind of hidden lead-in to Bruce Campbell becoming Superman..?! It all makes sense now! Don't think about it!
And Evil Ash is actually Bizarro Ash...
You're onto something there. |
And ARMY OF DARKNESS is actually SUPERMAN XI!!! YES!!
It's kind of depressing to think that Supes would be lowered to the position of Housewares Manager at S-Mart. How does he go from battling Darkseid one-on-one to shelving toasters?
Unemployment check ran out.
So, what happened to his position at the Daily Planet? Downsizing?
I think he just became a born again Christian, and you know how they hate newspapers.
They hate newspapers like Wayne Brady hates the white man!
I think Wayne Brady is a robot.
But if Wayne Brady hates the white man, and Waybe Brady is a robot, then that means...
...oh Jesus. Call the Pentagon. Negro robot uprising on the radar! Run to the hills! |
And join the rednecks, hicks and christian militia? No thanks! I'll run for the fucking robot.
Haven't you seen the epic sci-fi thriller Screamers?! They'll trick you into theinking that they are cuddly teddybears or guys lying on the ground pretending to be injured! They'll tear you to pieces! You can't match their robotic wits!
They'll push me down the stairs! Onoes!
And they will be silent, as well. They are cunning bastards.
hmmmm I've heard otherwise....I heard that Jake Gyllenhall was the new Superman
God no. The official announcement from Bryan Singer (the director) and from Warner Brothers is that Brandon Routh is the new Superman. Jake Gyllenhall screen-tested for the role over a year ago and WB didn't think he was right for the part.
He's just too damn goofy to be Supes. |
