Funny. I hate every single one of those bands, but most other Classic Rock is ok.

I got tired of The Beatles. My dad used to listen to them all the time.

Music is the artistic expression of one's emotions. I do know what music is, I prefer a different brand than you do.
Not everyone decides to express acid trips and sappy love songs. kthxbye |
I like Zeppelin. Probably my favorite rock band.

I like the Beatles, Zep, and Classical mostly.
Mozart helps you digest your food. There needs to be a little drummer boy in the American army. :p And yeah, The Beatles were all about peace and love, so I guess if you are the kind of guy who loves war and destruction you wouldn't like them. :D |

zepplin is cool, skynard is cool.Negative on the beatles though, I am not a big fan of them. I like older metallica as well. ACDC and def lepoard are pretty cool as is Hendrix

The Doors I can stand. I absolutely loathe Zepplin and the Beatles, however.

Yes. Soon we will gain control over all aspects of the forum as they are assimilated into the Raziel/Vollstrecker commonality. Resistance is futile.

Same here...creepy.

Enterprise-E, U.S.S.
Episode: MOV 008 - Star Trek: First Contact New Sovereign-class starship, registry NCC-1701-E, commanded by Jean-Luc Picard since its launch on stardate 49827.5 from the San Francisco Yards over Earth. With 24 decks, it was equipped with the latest in equipment and defenses, including quantum torpedoes. It did not go into full service immediately, even for shakedowns. By stardate 50893.5 the ship had only been in space and fully crewed for nearly a year. Having plunged into a temporal wake near Earth created by invading Borg, it visited the time of Cochrane's pioneering warp drive test and first contact with Vulcans in 2063 to repel the Borg's would-be sabotage. Resistance will never be futuile! |
Boy, we would slap your silly starship around until Scotty was wearing a tutu rather than a kilt, and Jordie (sp) would be back on 'Reading Rainbow'.
|
Scotty was Chief engineer for the Enterprise that was under the command of Captain Kirk. He was stuck in transporter stasis for 70 years, until the USS Enterprise D rescued him. He is NOT the chief engineer of the Enterprise E, rather LaForge is.
It's like saying i'd win if the borg didn't have any drones. |
That was the nerdiest counter-argument I have ever seen in my life. Kudos!
|
The depressing part is that I knew that.
|
Whas is "classic?" Is that like 10 years ago? 20 years ago? I like Suicidal Tendencies. Are they classic?
As for the takeover of the world by Raziel and company, I really wouldn't mind. Smart people running the world for a change would be awesome. |
Talking of suicide, Japan is like suicide city...

The Beatles played quite a few and weren't afraid to have other musicians play with them. Having lots of ladies follow you around doesn't necessarily make you a boy band. If it wasn't for The Beatles, the British invasion would probably not have happened, and bands would still have most likely been one-hit wonders like in the 50's. Bands like Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, etc revolutioned pop (this means popular -- don't get this confused with Britney Spears) songwriting, studio production, video promotion, general presentation and instrumental styles. A lot of the effects we have today should be indebted to these classic rock bands who had to use microphone 'maneuvers' and what not to get the effect. They couldn't just plug something in.The Doors' (don't want to make fun of them, but it is, in my opinion, true) sound was basically The Doors. They didn't really revolutionize anything. The Beatles and Led Zeppelin even dominated and defined their time, reflecting every culturally significant shift in their kaleidoscopic decade in ways so acute that the groups themselves even caused some of the major social changes of the 1960s and 1970s. These groups set the record for indoor stadium performances, and both Paul McCartney and John Lennon were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. (Beatles and solo) Led Zeppelin was inducted as well. This may or may not alter your opinion about them, but I'd just like to point a few things out. |

The Beatles were the first boy band. |
Meh. I classify a boy band as a band that relies on their using their physical appearance to sell CDs to teenage girls, rather than actually producing music.

Considering over 70 million people were watching The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and many of their fans are male, then I guess they aren't a boy band.
If you could please state what made them the first boy band, I would greatly appreciate it. |
1. In the very beginning of the band's career, they recieved a groutesque amount of attention due to the length of their hair (i.e. their physical appearance earned them publicity) and had teenage girls fawning all over them as a direct result of their appearance.
2. Lyrics like this: "Oh please say to me Youll let me be your man, And please say to me, Youll let me hold your hand," Quote:
Just because the current definition of "boy band" doesn't exactly match up with the image of the original Beatles doesn't mean they weren't one. Led Zepplin was technically the first "metal" band, and most metal bands nowadays sound nothing like Zepplin. Definitions evolve over time. That doesn't mean the origin of the definition loses it's purpose or potency. The Beatles = The Original Boy Band |
