People who love fanboys love this movie? Because that's what you literally said. ;)

It looks interesting from the previews. I'll probably end up seeing it.

J_iceman 2003-12-07 09:58 AM

theaters are too expensive!! 14 bucks...if you dont have a student ID.

pnaidork 2003-12-07 10:28 AM

i think it looks kinda stupid.. but ill trust you and go see it. meh.

WetWired 2003-12-08 10:03 AM

Yes! This movie is good.

Rurouni, I was under the impression that meanings of the word otaku range from anime fan to obsessed person to house. Maybe he's saying that even people that like to stay at home like this movie? :p

Rurouni Storm 2003-12-08 10:38 PM

The word actually just means a "fanboy". It has nothing to really do with anime.

Except in the US, where it is assumed to reffer to anime fandom.

velocity 2003-12-09 09:43 AM

J_iceman 2003-12-09 10:18 AM

yes but it is possible to be a car otaku,a computer otaku, etc. It basically means you are obsessed with something.so it basically does mean fanboy.

WetWired 2003-12-09 01:54 PM

What part of "in the US" do you not understand?

Admiral_Jason 2003-12-18 03:32 PM

OK TC has finally scored a classic movie for the first time since Top Gun. This movie was just so fucking orgasmic on so many levels. The battle scenes alone would make it a classic.

zagggon 2003-12-18 06:14 PM

Ima have to see i then.

RoboticSilence 2003-12-18 08:26 PM

This is truly the best movie I have seen. It was very inspiring. I highly recommend all of you to view it. It is absolutely wonderful.

Rurouni Storm 2003-12-18 08:36 PM

Better than Braveheart?

RoboticSilence 2003-12-18 08:38 PM

I believe so... but it may just be my love for the Japanese culture and history that causes this judgement. I have great respect for the honor and discipline of the samurai.

Adrenachrome 2003-12-18 08:45 PM

I liked the movie, but The similarities to so many other Civil War movies kept me from loving it.

RoboticSilence 2003-12-18 08:47 PM

This is a very different kind of civil war... this movie is not a Civil War movie... it is a movie about a civil war and a man who finds love in a people.

tidus2005 2003-12-18 08:50 PM

yeah it is a great movie but i dont know about it being better than brave heart becuase simply braveheart is and awesome movie but this movie is almost as good. i am very impressed and suprised that tom cruise actually made a good samurai.

RoboticSilence 2003-12-18 08:51 PM

This movie also made me finally realize how great of an actor Tom Cruise really is. He was magnificent.

This movie also contains no genital mutilation, so that makes it better than Braveheart.

zagggon 2003-12-18 09:55 PM

Omfg dont dare try to say that this is as good as BH.... BRAVEHEART PWNZ ALL THE SHIZZ>...

RoboticSilence 2003-12-19 12:47 AM

Why don't you go see it first before you make assumptions?

Eddie_Perez 2003-12-19 01:29 AM

Yeah, I saw it yesterday and I must say that movie pwnd. It was sad when the guy died (forgot his name, supa samurai guy), and appearently there are problems when there are 18 year old empererors...

Jimbo 2003-12-19 10:26 AM

Ill go see it but I doubt it's better than BH...

J_iceman 2003-12-19 10:49 AM

i cant believe that THIS movie is actually the best movie of the year??? i GOT to see it this weekend then !!

J_iceman 2003-12-19 08:17 PM

wait wait, tom cruise dies in the movie like that other guy in braveheart??

tidus2005 2003-12-19 08:22 PM

no tom cruise doesnt die the leader of the samurai dies

RoboticSilence 2003-12-19 09:17 PM

The Dalai Lama was 3 years old when he was proclaimed so.

Randuin 2003-12-23 12:33 PM

I saw it the day it came out, purely awesome, better than LOTR

Titusfied 2003-12-23 01:06 PM

I saw it last night, and I'm really happy I did. I was going to see LoTR, but my date didn't want to see it. She and I both really enjoyed this movie. :D

I don't know if I would go as far as Braveheart, but it is a contender to Gladiator, IMHO. I'm a huge movie guru, and this just didn't pump me up like Braveheart ever could, hence, not as good to me. Then again, I'm a little biased towards Braveheart, and I highly doubt any movie will be better, in my mind at least.

The fighting scenes were exquisit, and just the fact that Tom Cruise can actually do all the shit he did, it flat out jaw dropping. I saw a few interviews with him since the movie, and I am back to really enjoying him as an actor.

Good flick, highly recommended.

Now I just have to see LoTR and I will do a comparison. I've always loved the fantasy types of plots and movies better, but LoTR really has something to live up to now.

J_iceman 2003-12-23 01:48 PM

all good reviews, i must see this move.....before LOTR??? you think??

Titusfied 2003-12-23 01:59 PM

Well, I did see it before LoTR, but not because that was the order of interest for me. It just worked out that way, but I'm actually glad it did, because if not, I probably would not have seen this movie until it came out on DVD, and it would have lost some of its effectiveness, like most movies do outside the theater.

Randuin 2003-12-25 05:06 PM

I like the fact that it wasn't based on shit hype or relied on sex to sell
