Synthesis 2.0 colors
 

Me and Chruser have recently been working on Synthesis 2.0, which will be used when we switch to vB3. There had been requests for the original Synthesis in multiple colors, so we took some time to put together several alternate color schemes. We would like comments and suggestions on these schemes, as well as names for them. After a few days, I'll put up a poll where you guys can vote for which ones to make for vB3. Please use the letters when reffering to them, as any names are subject to change.

I like a and d.

Okay, here's my opinion:

a: Nothing wrong with the original, I like it a lot.
b: I like it a lot too, only the center (post area) should be darker.
c: The buttons are unreadable on my screen, otherwise, it's nice.
d: I really like this one, I can't say anything bad about it.
e: There's something about the colors that gives me a bad impression about this one.
f: The main colors are good, but the buttons are horrible. I want to scream when I see the contrast between the blue and the yellow.
g: This one is really nice, but the center needs to be a lot darker, if not even black.
h: Reminds me of the original synthesis in a good way. I can't say anything bad about this one either.

I like b, the red colors look nice and calm

a d and maybe f not sure though

I can't decide, I like them all.

Just a note. This is not so much a thread to talk about which you like as to talk about things you like and things that you think should be changed, colors that you think should have been made but weren't, and what to call them. As I said, after a few days, I will post a multiple choice poll where you guys can vote for which ones you like.

I like the new activity bar thing. It makes it look more high-tech and neat-o.

I like the original, dark stone, and the red one. The others are great too, though. Still, nothing can and will compare to good ol' ocean. If I knew how to make skins, I'd design a ocean/synthesis type one.

The point here was not to make a completely new design. The point was to adapt it for vB3 and to add features that we've been hitting ourselves over the head about. We have an all-new style in the works, but it will be quite some time before it's ready.

Looks like D but uglier. The point of f was to have a contrasting color of button; yellow is the opposite hue of blue.

Well yea, I get your point But I wish they could make a Dragon Ball Z design since alot of the members like it.

Question:
Will it show the member's title, (I'm assuming OWNER is his status.), joined date etc?

What is the "Online Recent" part at the bottom left all about? I could understand "Online Offline", but the "Recent" is kind of screwing me up...

Also, what are all the icons under the "Posts" part? I know what they are icons for, but did you just put them there for fillers, or are they the set icons that will be used? Are they user friendly, as in, if I wanted to change them up, can I?

Is there a "Quote" button anymore, or is that "Reply" button next to the "Edit" the same thing?

I think the colors should be options, like the styles.

All of them look fine to me. I agree with 'the tit' (titusfied). Keep all of those colors as options. Will ocean stil be around?

Ocean, as the original template, must never die. And I think I suggested before( maybe a long time ago ) to have different color schemes as options for certain templates.

No, currently, the user title and join dates have been compressed into nothingness, to make the postbit smaller. You'll still be able to access most of the information you need via the profile, and the user title is very personal, and the "personal" stuff will be placed in the signature and avatar area for now.


The "Recent" part just tells the reader if the post is recent/new. That is, if it has been read before.


They're fixed icons, and going from the left to the right, they stand for:

Add buddy, Block user, Write email, AIM, ICQ, YIM, MSN

I'm not entirely sure what you meant with this. We WILL keep most of these styles, based on popular input, which will be checked in a vote soon to come. If you would want the users to be able to alter the colors themselves, then that's a whole different story. The problem is that all the finished full themes get split into lots of small images, which isn't an easy thing to change the colors of afterwards. I know something like this would be doable in Flash, but unfortunately, Flash isn't very user-friendly in general as a lot of computers (including most school comptuers) don't allow it.

I pretty much like all of them, why not implement them all and let the users choose? Btw... I would suggest/request a generally very dark grey style for the background and orange for the buttons and what not.

I'm pretty sure orange is the opposite of blue.

A combination of b and i would be nifty.

I would like to see a more rich red than that. All the tones in it, more rich.

I also like the Camo one, although I think there should be some tan and dark dark green added to it in order to make it look more authentic, as for the rest I like them I don't see anything horrible about them.

The only thing I can say I hate is the idea of not having the title under the avatar, I think we will lose alot of personality..
