TGS 2003: Square Enix announces Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Original CG movie set in the FFVII world slated for next year.

At a second press conference today Square Enix announced a new twist on an old favorite with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, an original CG movie using characters from the franchise's first appearance on Sony hardware. The announcement put to rest the months of speculation on a remake of Final Fantasy VII with the revelation that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children would revisit the characters from the classic game. A brief clip of the movie was shown that gave glimpses of Cloud's and Sephiroth's new look and the high level of detail going into the CG. At present, the movie is expected to run roughly 60 minutes. How it will be distributed and what the final incarnation of it will be remains to be seen, since Square reps at the conference didn't provide many specific details. During a Q&A session following the presentation of the movie clip, the subject of a proper Final Fantasy VII remake was brought up. Those involved with Advent Children stated that if the original FFVII wasn't playable on current hardware, remaking FFVII would be something they would consider. However, with the backward compatibility of the PlayStation 2, it is still possible to do so, which lowers the need for such a project. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children is tentatively slated for a summer 2004 release

Sweet. Is this a movie or a game? I thought from the article it was a movie and the remaking of the game was a possibility, but at the link they were reveiwing the game... :confused:

Ive known about this for weeks...like maybe 2 or 3....

Anyway...It is a movie and Sephiroth has short hair...hes gothic (Wears Black Lipstick and Mascara) and Cloud has boobs....Any other questions?

I've seen the handful of screens they've got at IGN, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. First of all, Sephiroth looks like a homo. Literally. I've got a gay friend that dresses exactly like him, only without the eye makeup and lip liner. Second, I've been reading that apparently Cloud is the villain in the movie. That would mean Sephiroth would have to be the...not-villain...one way or another, it isn't kosher. The plus side is that it looks really pretty. The CG is amazing. I just hope the story doesn't eat a cornucopia of balls.

They should make a FFVI movie as well, that'd be awesome. Nothing wrong with FFVII though, I just like 6's storyline more.

Well, some of those pictures aren't of Sephiroth. The short dude fighting Cloud has a double edged blade, and we all know Sephiroth is taller and doesn't have a double edged blade.

Sephiroth was defeated at the end of FF7. He might have lost the Masamune between now and then.

Sephiroth without Masamune is like Emeril without Essence.

Even more evidence of why this movie could turn out to be enormously gay.

All final fantasy movies will be gay anyway. They aren't meant to be movies, they are meant to be games/interactive stories.

I saw this in a GameInformer magazine. I'm really hoping that they'll remake FF7 with better graphics, too.

I'm guessing a clone. As for how good it's going to be, I think it'll be better than Spirits Within. The fighting seems good at least.

You see him while whit short hair. He bow down probably at jenova.
My guess is in the movie he cut his hair after he left shinra.

Why does Cloud have boobs?
Why does Sephiroth look like a Goth?

They really look similar in many aspect tho.
And what if it s cause of lifestream that Sephiroth ended up in another body after being defeated at the end of ff7.
The only time we see him whit long hair is something that happen in middle of ff7 it could be nothing more then a old memory.

I have the right awnser it has to be Sephiroth whit the short hair no one would be that leet whit a sword other then him.
And notice how in the trailer they show it in that order.
Lifestream , battle whit short hair sephiroth, short hair sephiroth bow down in front of Jenova (probably Jenova), Then probably a memory of the past.

There is absolutely no reason why it wouldn't be Sephiroth. He looks exactly like him, with shorter hair and a gay costume. On top of that, the only characters that we have seen in any released screens are Cloud and two dudes that look like Sephiroth. One would logically assume that the two guys that look alarmingly similar are, in fact, the same person.

Even if it is a clone of Sephiroth, that still technically makes the character Sephiroth to some extent. Stop nitpicking over a slight height discrepancy or a new sword. Whether you like it or not, the goth queer is Sephiroth, plain and simple.
