Holy fucking shit! Those are hurricanes? I didn't think they actually looked like that outside of the weather map! Wow, its like a big ass tornado!

uncapped 2003-09-22 03:56 PM

A few years ago, my whole neighborhood was in the eye of the storm. I should've took a pic.

zagggon 2003-09-22 05:14 PM

thats neato doofus ;)

Shining Knights 2003-09-22 05:18 PM

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

RoboticSilence 2003-09-22 05:20 PM

Yes, the hurricane posed for the picture. I find it very interesting to see such images of hurricanes, they look like huge fucking death traps.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-22 05:20 PM

Hurricanes are no big deal, they look cool though.

Penny_Bags 2003-09-22 05:37 PM

False. They are quite the big deal. Millions in damage.

Tornadoes are scarier though I think.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-22 06:13 PM

I've been through about 7 or so hurricanes, I live on the NC coast, and everyone around here freaks out. It just seems stupid to me.

TheStryker 2003-09-22 06:16 PM

Hurricanes > Tornadoes

Tornadoes last like an hour or so tops but hurricanes are devastating. A category 5 hurricane can get winds up to 150 miles an hour with gusts up to 200 miles and hour. I mean.. 150 MPH constant wind.. for about.. 4-5 hours?

Besides, tornadoes move too fast, hurricanes can be MAD slow and do more damage. They cover a bigger area

EDIT:
My area got hit by a Tropical Storm (< category 1 hurricane) and 4.5 million people lost power that day.

Hurricane Isabel

They can also pick up cows and land them on your roof!

Cloud_Nine 2003-09-22 07:12 PM

Fuck that would scare the shit out of me.

omfg where in NC nigga? i live in raleigh!

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-22 07:53 PM

Old news, I knew you lived in Raleigh like a year ago. I'm about 3 hours away from you.

Titusfied 2003-09-22 08:06 PM

Twisters look much cooler though and do more immediate damage. Hurricanes are fucking badass though.

Adrenachrome 2003-09-23 06:00 AM

My grandmother lives in Columbia.

Syn 2003-09-23 06:44 AM

Maybe if you took your average hurricane which does little damage, and compared it to an F5 tornado that lasted for 3 or 4 hours...

RoboticSilence 2003-09-23 09:30 AM

Uhh... the average hurricane that hits land at all does tens of millions of dollars in damage at the least.

Titusfied 2003-09-23 09:38 AM

An F5 Tornado would kill more though, since they are not nearly as predictable as hurricanes.

Eddie_Perez 2003-09-23 11:36 AM

God, I would be scared as hell if I were on that boat in pic 2. Thats one of my biggest fears, storms in the middle of the ocean. Actually, just the hugeness of the ocean scares me... Who knows wtf is down there...

Sovereign 2003-09-23 01:09 PM

Can somebody please explain to me why the fuck that boat seems to be going INTO the hurricane.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-23 02:56 PM

They do research with heavy boats and heavy planes and stuff. That's how they find out how fast it is and how strong it is.

DrowningOnAir 2003-09-23 03:29 PM

Ahoy, just got my power back today...

D3V 2003-09-23 03:49 PM

I live in florida, I was hoping that that damn hurricane isabel would slow down and turn left and crash into florida so I could miss a few days of school :D. I've been through a few hurricanes and a lot of tropical storms, like when andrew came through and stomped us, that was sweet cuz it tore down my fence :(

Eddie_Perez 2003-09-23 07:28 PM

Yes... I always get excited by storms... always. They pwn my senses...

platnum 2003-09-23 07:50 PM

its weird how the cloud goes liek an upsidown mesa. i would be so freaked out if i was there.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-23 08:02 PM

From above it probably looks like the grand canyon(I've never actually seen the grand canyon for myself, so I don't know for sure.)

Eddie_Perez 2003-09-23 08:33 PM

I stood right at the edge, its so fucking scary... I'm scared of falling... not heights, just falling.
