I'm not against the idea, I just see a certain bias factor popping up. The alternative is obviously to let ALL members vote. The1 and such "disliked members" would be dissed by both the jury AND the general board population, so the question is whether or not it really makes much of a difference.
Chruser, the bias is there for a reason. The1 is a complete and total moron and jackass.
I wouldn't be against all of the members voting. That sounds like a better idea.
That sounds like a fishy idea, because most members probably won't even know what they are voting for, or whatnot..
It's not as fishy as putting you and a handful of other people in charge.
There's a reason those people would be there; they're good judges of character.
Who would the 5 be again?
It's up for discussion.
well how about
I would skip Sov and K_A if only because they are frequently on this forum under the influence, and not the best judges of character that I have seen.. I mean, Sov actually talks to The1, that's not sane :(
heh
Another alternative would be to have Zel staff (News poster and up) do it? Got me. Any of the ideas sounds amusing. |
true, how about bob and voll?
its hard to think of good members, theres not many sane ones here that arn't staff members. |
I considered Bob, and Voll would be a good choice also.
Yeah.. I can't find many good members, odd realization for me. I would recommend: Raziel Medieval Bob Vollstrecker Penny_Bags Titusfied RoboticSilence (maybe, but he's on vacation or something?) |
Should there really be an admin with this, he allready has plenty to do. (I guess)
I keep forgetting Ditus is an admin o_O
Maybe mjordan2nd.. but I'm not sure. Possibly Thanatos (Jizmo)? Not sure on that one either. |
On the lines of Chruser's thoughts. I actually think a jury and members that have been here a certain amount of time, say at least 4 months, so they can actually do a good judge of character? Maybe also a post count restriction of 250 or so, which would show they aren't inactive too?
On another note, there already is a Reputation Level thing set up with this version of vB that we don't utilize. That could be something as well, aside from the jury and member votes (Rep Level is for Staff). |
Dont know why but Jizmo would be better than Mjordan, not sure why i think this tho.
Maybe u need to first ask who would wants to do it. I dont think there will be alot of members who would spent alot of time debatting over giving someone a ''stamp of approval'' or not...
I'm sure there's at least a good chance that anyone inducted to The Council would be willing to put forth the effort to taunt and make fun of people.
As Titus said, you guys could use a "reputation bar." Each council member gets to put in a Yay or Nay on whether he the member is okay in his book or not. For each Yay the member goes up a notch on the bar, and for each Nay he goes down.
And the top-ten highest reputation's get a stamp of approval or something that appears somewhere. And the top-ten lowest rated are banned. |
or losered for a week.
No. Banned.
Banned is a harsh punishment if they never actually broke any rules.
I think we should stick 'em with a nice, humiliating sig. 'Rectal Rooters. Servicing men's plumbing since 1940' or something. ...I need to go to bed. :( |
Posted Today, 02:14 PM...
There will be no Bans for the worst members. |
Solid.
Go to hell you character limit. |
yeah, that's fucking retarded.
So is worthless spam in "Forum Discussion".
Yeah I think this idea would be great, and I don't know what is holding Chruser back with this kind of approval from the forum dwellers. |

Plus, it's not even finalized yet. This still appears as conjecture. |
@penny: yes, because you're one of the asskissers on the forum. there's a little circle of elitists on here, and those would be the ones picked to do the judging. so, by implementing this, we're not only advocating being an elitist, but we're actually placing a label on elitists to have a higher social rank of sorts. this idea is shit, and it most likely will fail.
See, now resorting to flaming in EVERY topic you post in would probably get you BLISed or GAHHed at the least.

i wasn't flaming slim. stop assuming.
You called Penny an asskisser.
Yeah... wtf...
And yes MasterAC is right. |
lol, i was just making a point. i didnt mean it in a bad way. besides, me and penny are tight. lol. ;p
Quit spamming up this forum/flaming in it.
I think this is sort of like the points system, maybe some way we can incorporate that. It is truly just a conjecture, hopefully if Chruser approves, we can finalize very soon and get this running good. And would the council have a seperate forum to themselves? |
Hopefully. That would be great, but only if there is much deliberation to be had.
Finally! Penny and I get mentioned as part of the veteran/smarter members.
But.. yeah, I'd be interested in this council. I miss being a news poster and if I make this council I can fill that void. [/end pathetic story] I'm game. |
You know my opinion, you ALL suck ;)
Again, the bias will likely be obvious if a regular member decides to attack a council member in any way. If council member X gets thoroughly flamed by board member Y, chances are that X will hate Y and say bad things about Y to other council members, which in turn leads to Y getting a "bad rating".
On the contrary, a "let everyone vote" system will likely, as previously stated, only receive input from a small circuit of members. A member who is in need to improve his score after several bad incidents could easily tell a few of his/her friends to boost his score, as "a few" people will likely dominate the direction of the user's score. Yet another method would be to rate the user's individual posts, one by one, to grade the individual input from time to time, which would more efficiently be done by regular board members than a jury, as the jury would hardly read ALL posts on the forum, and maybe exclude those in, say, the RM2K3 forum. |
