My mother was in her fifth month before she realized she was pregnant with my older sister, so I was told. It's not uncommon for girls to miss periods, some girls even having only 4 or 5 periods in a year. I myself had gone a full year between periods before they finally steadied out in the last two years.

Need any other information on the female reproductive cycle?

I really wouldn't think it's normal to miss 4+ months of periods x_X. I've never dated a girl that was even close to that. And my friends have never dated a girl like that. Of course that's somewhat anecdotal, but it's either it's not THAT normal or the girls around here's fertility is jacked up over dozens of generations of inbreeding ;).

It's more common with overweight females for some reason, I believe.
