Thats absolutly the post insaine thing I have ever seen/heard of in my entire life. In that artical you could appearently get chaged 74,000 for playing videogames.... thats too damn far.

NonGayMan 2002-09-06 05:05 PM

Wow, that really sucks.

WhaBAM 2002-09-09 05:21 PM

Video games are the only thing that keep me sane (and out of jail I might add) If I couldn't shoot people in video games, I'd do it in real life... That's bad... And I'd miss the Goombas...

This is perfect for my International News Article for my World History class. Props to ya Penguin!!!

The BBC reports that a Greek court has thrown out two cases involving the arrest of several Internet cafe owners who were arrested for allegedly allowing its customers to play games online like Counter-Strike and Chess. The Greek court noted during the proceedings that the law passed by the Greek legislature late last month is unconstitutional. The Internet Cafe owners walked away with no fines and no jail time. With such a landmark precedent set, it doesn't look like these anti-gaming laws will be enforceable. The question is, will the Greek government repeal the law or modify it to target gambling?

Support to repeal the law is increasing, with gamers and businessmen in the interactive entertainment and Internet sector protesting heavily on all fronts (both online and in public demonstrations). Internet Cafe owners say that this law will force them to close their businesses; while businessmen in the interactive entertainment sector say that the government ought to focus more on Piracy (a serious problem) in that region instead of infringing on the country's freedoms and liberties.
