Kinda like when you were a kid, and you were told to stay out of your parents room when it got close to Christmas time. You didn't know exactly what was in there, but you wanted to find out. That explains a majority of the people, at least. As for the people who are extreme about it, I have no clue...

The government has to keep secrets from its people, because information made available to its people is also information available to its enemies. Area 51 has pretty much been an experimental aircraft testing facility and because of its unique aircraft it earned the reputation for UFOs (which the aircraft technically were because they were flying objects that had never been seen before by the public). It can't officially exist or have its info released without compromising part of its purpose.

I just find it irritating that everyone's freaking out that the government keeps secrets and claim there's alien spacecraft there.

Not that I'm a fan of having things withheld from us, but you have to realize that the need for secrecy is high, especially in instruments of warfare.

I do appreciate the fact that the government needs its secrets, but I don't like that they are used as a scare tactic.

Although something I do find quite interesting: You always hear people preach that they saw an 'alien spaceship' (UFO)....why because it was flying? It didn't touch the ground it must be alien! RUN FOR THE HILLS! I have never heard of a story where someone looked at something and said, "My god, that four-wheeled contraption traversing the land at speeds close to 150 MPH must be alien because I have never seen it before!" For some reason, if it travels on land, it must be 'earthian'. I will stop on this note, because continuing will lead me into a long post that is quite off titled topic.

I've always been of the opinion that if the government DOES happen to be holding aliens captive somewhere, it certainly isn't at Area 51. If anything, Area 51 is just misdirection.

More than likely, though, people are just batshiat insane.

jamer123 2008-06-21 06:49 PM

it would bw funny if they hold aliens in mt rushmore

Coriander 2008-06-21 10:07 PM

...I wonder if you're an alien....

Vollstrecker 2008-06-22 12:23 AM

It'd be someplace seriously secure, like the NORAD facility.

jamer123 2008-06-23 06:13 PM

no that would be expected so they would put it were its not expected

Willkillforfood 2008-06-23 08:41 PM

They hold them in my basement. No joke. I piss on them when I feel down.

Not usually of that magnitude, however. You don't hide things in plain sight when you're trying to keep it secret from the other 99% of the world's population.

Willkillforfood 2008-06-24 02:59 PM

Area 51 has some nasty shit there, or at least used to. A bunch of workers were poisoned from materials they burnt there. Their symptoms were dreadful and they all ended up dying horrible deaths.

Vollstrecker 2008-06-25 02:49 AM

The military has always handled nasty shit, it's nothing terribly new. I don't think it's enough to say they're hiding aliens there, however.

badboy 2008-06-27 11:53 PM

Really, how many "conspiracy" threads are there going to be? What are you people even complaining about?

Skurai 2008-06-28 02:40 AM

I've always felt Like I might be a government experiment...
:weird:

I love how they try and cover up things, because the more they try, the more obvious it gets...

"Mr. agent sir, I have a questi---"

"YOU CAN'T PROVE ANYTHING!!! IT WAS A BLIMP! GET OFF OF THE PREMISSIS OR WE WILL BE FORCED TO SHOOT!!!"

"what the hell!? I just wanted to know were the nearest Gas station is....!!"
