Well, it's actually more of a "keeping manufacturing costs" down kinda thing. If a console-maker just made their system out of off-the-shelf PC parts, it would cost a fortune to manufacture the things.

Oh wait...that's exactly what Microsoft did. And they've been steadily losing an excess of $500 (or so I'm told) on each console they sell because of it.

I meant more of the Processor speed constraints in a more general sense, not just limited to console gaming.

I should pay more attention.

D3V should pay more taxes. You know, for spelling the "E" in his name with a "3".

Vollstrecker 2004-12-15 02:10 AM

Agreed. We should put all the '1337' kiddies into a higher tax bracket or two.

I GOT IT! We could limit their Internet bandwidth by how much they pay in taxes!

Raziel 2004-12-15 02:14 AM

That would be awesome. D3V could afford looking at a pop-up or two.

Vollstrecker 2004-12-15 02:18 AM

Those would be leftovers of spyware he got before this was instituted, of course.

D3V 2004-12-15 12:36 PM

Ah yes. Spyware. I love it.

Absolute genius!

When does the PS3 come out?

Grav 2005-01-04 12:49 PM

Tomorrow. To be sure you're ready, go stand outside a game store (you know, the one with the creaky door in the bad part of town?) at the early hours of the morning with lots of cash taped to your body. It's the only way to reserve one.
