OK. Tifa's kind of dense, Aerith's...well...kinda like Rinoa in a sense that she can actually say what she feels. I tried doing that horrid pick-up line on Tifa the morning after when we were about to raid another Mako plant and she's coming along for the ride (you know when you can choose a reply to her good morning routine?!). Damn!

Other than the fact that Tifa was modeled after Lara Croft and Aerith looks like Sephiroth's younger sister AND one of them dies...these 2 young women are as different as night and day. You can't get any better than that!

Either he/she means Tifa has big knockers and Aeris is to emotional or...well I don't know what else.

Raziel 2003-09-23 03:34 PM

I fail to see how bigger tits and surviving until the ending make Tifa any different from Aeris. They looked different, had different Limit Breaks, and one of them died. Those were the only differences. Aeris may have stated her feelings for Cloud, but she never acted upon them. She treated Cloud like "that guy that I really should date, but that for some reason I don't want to." Tifa did damn near the exact same thing, only in a more subtle fashion. They were the same character.

When I played, Aeris was all over cloud. She was all freakin him out on the date and stuff, like she wanted to fuck him.

Raziel 2003-09-23 09:02 PM

That's not the interpretaion I got. She was fawning over him, yes, but that doesn't equate to "I want to fuck him." Trust me, I've had a number of girls treat me in the same fashion, and just because a girl fawns over you doesn't mean she's gonna take even so much as a single step in the direction of a relationship with you. Aeris was just more more vocal about her affection for Cloud than Tifa was. She didn't make any serious advances, she was just flirting with him.

!King_Amazon! 2003-09-24 04:59 AM

Aeris is, of course, the prime date candidate. Thus, her date is the
flagship date, and the one that will of course tie in most prominently with
the game's plot as a whole. This date is also the most interactive date,
though no matter how much of an asshole you are to her, she just doesn't get
the point, anyways. Aeris shows up at your room intent on taking you out on
a date. And she does. Forcefully. After shoving you out the door, you end
up at the station at the Gold Saucer. A man there tells you that tonight is
Enchantment Night, and everything is free. First, you and Aeris go to the
Event Square, where you are offically declared to be the 100th couple of the
night, and thus you get to star as the leads in the play. Let me begin by
saying that the play runs the exact same for every date (well, except for
Barret's). Also, should you find yourself with the overwhelming desire to
mess the play up (a temptation that is indeed difficult to resist), go for
it. This is because your actions during the play will have no bearing on
what happens during the rest of your date, so do what you like. There are
two basic ways the play can end, either with you vanquishing the Evil Dragon
King and everyone living hapily ever after, or by you screwing the play up.
This, in turn, will make Aeris mad. She will then slap Cloud and then kick
the hell out of the Evil Dragon King. Amusing, to say the least. Whichever
you would like to go for is completely up to you, and thankfully, it doesn't
take a rocket scientist to predict which of the lines given to you will lead
to which result. That being said, there are a few different ways you can go
with your lines, but there's actually very little to be seen in the means of
variety. The only interesting thing to do is to talk to the knight and ask
him to defeat the Evil Dragon King. He tries. And he gets the hell beaten
out of himself. It's funny. Also note that once the knight has gotten his
stupid ass killed, you still have time to obtain either the "good" or "bad"
endings to the play. With the play over, Aeris decides that she is next
going to take you on the Gondola at the Round Square. Romantic music plays
and you are treated to a visual feast of sights and fireworks. A short
while into the ride, Aeris begins talking. She mentions how eerie it is how
you and her ex-boyfriend look, walk, act, and talk so much alike. But
things are different with you, she says. As the camera zooms out, the
conversation hits a higher note. Aeris tells Cloud that she's searching for
him... and that she'd like to "meet" him. I'm sure we all know what she's
trying to say. Hell, anyone with an intellegence level higher than that of
a stapler knows what she's trying to say. Cloud just doesn't get it,
though, and the date comes to a bit of an anti-climatic end with Aeris
promising to take Cloud out again sometime.

And? She and Tifa both had similar moments. Granted, Tifa didn't drag Cloud around Gold Saucer by his shaft and tell him "I want to meet Cloud", but she had a similar scene with him toawrds the end of the game. Tifa said damn near the exact same thing the night before the group heads for the North Crater. Tifa was also always bringing up the "remember your promise" junk throughout the entire game, constantly reminding him of their past together. Aeris took the "hot new chick" routine and Tifa took the "hot, longtime friend" path. They both had the same objective, it's just that one of them was a bit more vigorous about it.

No, I wasn't pertaining to Tifa's knockers! What I meant about Aerith acting like Rinoa is because...well...she actually tried to tell him what she felt (whereas Rinoa was literally telling Squall she was like SO into him even way, way into the beginning of the game). Tifa was like "remember your promise" and this and that. OO;; OK. One was flirting, the other was just...doing it the hard way. They were both the same because they both had feelings for Cloud; different in how they handled their feelings towards him and one of them died. Aerith, who looked like she was the one capable of being that overly shy towards a guy she liked, was WAY opposite of how she was supposed to ACT, and Tifa was just the same as she was (her personality didn't match how she must have looked to people out there).

Tifa was dense, as Cloud was dense, and Aerith wasn't.

Aerith acted like a modern young woman should nowadays (although that doesn't mean she drags her crush all around the town then tell him straight to his face that she really, REALLY digs him) and Tifa acted the more conservative, traditional type (the love which grows on childhood friendship and such). They ARE that different; it didn't have anything to do with their physical attributes. And they were the same, because they both fell for Cloud.

It matters not whether you win or lose; what matters is whether I win or lose.

Cerridwen 2003-09-25 06:00 AM

Sorry. Yup, I know it is just a game. What more if it was REAL?! O.o;;

Raziel 2003-09-25 06:24 AM

The similarities in their character go beyond just how they approached their individual dilemmas with Cloud. They both took slightly different paths in that respect, but their responses to practically any given situation were exactly the same otherwise. They didn't disagree on anything, they didn't have differing opinions, they didn't respond differently to the other characters. They looked different, had different battle capabilities, and went about their interest in Cloud in slightly different fashions. Besides those few meager details, they were exactly the same.

Cerridwen 2003-09-26 05:11 PM

O...K.

Chruser 2003-10-16 02:17 PM

Aeris' heal-all spell is quite nice.

Cerridwen 2003-10-20 06:15 AM

If it weren't for Aerith's earlier Limit Breaks, the FFVII party's all SCREWED~~~!!! I forgot if it also healed all status ailments, though...^______^;;

And if it weren't for her, Tifa wouldn't get to snog Cloud. She save the goddamn PLANET with Holy~~~!!! Now who says she's WEAK~~~?!

Cerridwen 2003-11-01 09:28 AM

She wasn't facing the other way. If she did, she could've avoided it.

!King_Amazon! 2003-11-01 12:11 PM

Yes, it was a pussy shot on sephiroths part. She knew she was gonna die, and probably didn't do anything about it for a reason.
