[00:23] FIre_Slayer: lol
[00:23] FIre_Slayer: talking to yourself now?
[00:23] Goodlookinguy: All the android says is that it won't rust her.
[00:23] Draco2003: only a little
[00:23] FIre_Slayer: lol
[00:23] Draco2003: oh...
[00:24] Draco2003: it's still hella scary that she looks so damn real
[00:24] FIre_Slayer: hey does the warcraft 3 maphack work?
[00:24] Draco2003: No idea, don't play games on PC
[00:24] Goodlookinguy: No kid.
[00:24] FIre_Slayer: oh
[00:24] FIre_Slayer: lol
[00:24] Goodlookinguy: I've never used a maphack.
[00:25] Goodlookinguy: I can't give a definite answer.
[00:25] FIre_Slayer: well gotta go
[00:25] FIre_Slayer: later
[00:25] Goodlookinguy: Goodbye random person!

[00:29] Draco2003: o.o
[00:30] Draco2003: what did you do?
[00:30] Goodlookinguy: What me?
[00:30] Draco2003: yeah
[00:31] Goodlookinguy: Going to my last year of High School coming this next week. As for a job, I'm doing freelance jobs regaurding web design, etc. for free to put into a porfolio for the future.
[00:32] Draco2003: for free?
[00:32] Goodlookinguy: Yeah
[00:32] Draco2003: that kinda blows
[00:32] Draco2003: but I guess it's good for the experience
[00:33] Goodlookinguy: Na, not really. I enjoy programming.
[00:33] Goodlookinguy: Yeah, I'm also doing it for experience.
[00:33] Draco2003: are you fluent in C++?
[00:33] Goodlookinguy: I've been working with it for 4-years.
[00:34] Goodlookinguy: It was my first programming language.
[00:34] Draco2003: Are you a good teacher?
[00:35] Goodlookinguy: No.
[00:35] Draco2003: damn
[00:35] Goodlookinguy: I'm a terrible teacher.
[00:35] Draco2003: is it because you get terribly frustrated with something that seems so obvious to you, even though it might not be to the other person?
[00:36] Goodlookinguy: No, the problem is that I have ADHD. So I like to go from one thing to another, and I can't help it. Then I get the people confused.
[00:36] Draco2003: oh
[00:37] Draco2003: fair enough
[00:37] Draco2003: I thought people with ADHD had a hard time learning things
[00:37] Draco2003: how do you keep your focus?
[00:38] Goodlookinguy: Na, it's different with each case. I enjoy programming so somehow I manage to keep going at it. The thing is, we will pay atention to things, even if it's the wrong things. Like homework for example, I don't care for. So I won't be able to focus on it.
[00:41] Draco2003: That's cool
[00:41] Draco2003: I was just wondering though, because I bought a book on C++
[00:41] Draco2003: but I get so lost in it
[00:41] Goodlookinguy: What problems are you having?
[00:41] System: flappykun2349 has joined the chat
[00:41] flappykun2349: need help
[00:42] Draco2003: mainly its following the lessons between chapters
[00:42] Goodlookinguy: Is it definition related?
[00:42] Draco2003: no, pretty much the study material
[00:42] flappykun2349: its about that post
[00:42] Draco2003: I don't know whether to continue using the code from the previous chapter, or open a new project
[00:42] Goodlookinguy: What year is the book from?
[00:44] Draco2003: It says "First printing: Oct 2002"
[00:44] Goodlookinguy: I wonder if it's using System as a namespace or if it's using std.
[00:44] Goodlookinguy: It's using System:: as a namespace huh?
[00:44] Draco2003: i think it's the std
[00:44] Goodlookinguy: I'm surprised.
[00:44] Draco2003: std::cout and std:: cin
[00:44] Goodlookinguy: C Out C In.
[00:45] Goodlookinguy: std::cout << "My Text\n";
[00:45] Draco2003: yeah
[00:45] Draco2003: I actually got 2 books, the first one, "Sam's Teach Yourself C++ in 24 hrs"
[00:46] Goodlookinguy: Ha!
[00:46] Draco2003: only allows for the DOS box to show
[00:46] Goodlookinguy: 24-hours my ass!
[00:46] Goodlookinguy: That's nonsense.
[00:46] Goodlookinguy: C++ takes a good month at least.
[00:46] Draco2003: I know, it's only basic stuff, and it only says that
[00:46] Draco2003: because it's broken down into chapters they call hours
[00:47] Goodlookinguy: DOS box? | Ha, hours. I love that kind of nonsense.
[00:47] Draco2003: I didn't really expect to learn it in a day
[00:47] Goodlookinguy: Don't you mean command prompt?
[00:47] Draco2003: what's the damn thing called...
[00:47] Draco2003: YEAH
[00:48] Goodlookinguy: Have you done any other languages besides C++ yet?
[00:48] Draco2003: nope
[00:48] Draco2003: I read somewhere that python was a good pre-C++ language
[00:50] Goodlookinguy: I wouldn't suggest starting with C++ unless you can figure out all of the terms or really understand all of the terms beforehand. I think Python could be a good pre-C++ starter. Except that the languages are different. So you would be learning one, then another. Making the journey longer.
[00:50] System: flappykun2349 has left the chat
[00:51] Draco2003: by terms you mean syntax?
[00:51] Goodlookinguy: Yes.
[00:52] Draco2003: I don't think that is a problem. It's all seems pretty easy...
[00:52] Draco2003: it's just putting it in the right places that gets confusing
[00:53] Goodlookinguy: What are you doing wrong?
[00:53] Goodlookinguy: Maybe pictures are neccessary.
[00:54] Goodlookinguy: Are you using Microsoft Visual Studio?
[00:54] Draco2003: Dev C++
[00:54] Draco2003: the bloodshed one...
[00:54] Goodlookinguy: Oh, I've never used that. I wonder if the interpreter is any good.
[00:55] Draco2003: Well it was free, but people say it's almost as good as the ones you pay for
[00:56] Draco2003: The parts that get confusing though, is moving from one chapter to another
[00:56] Goodlookinguy: There's a free version of MS Visual 2008 I believe.
[00:56] Goodlookinguy: Well, if it's getting the job done and your not having any real issues, I suppose I shant say anymore.
[00:57] Draco2003: The book says it builds on each previous chapter, but if I just add to the code, it gives errors
[00:57] Draco2003: and if I start over, it gives errors...
[00:57] Goodlookinguy: Well, that's why you're supposed to be learning it, so you don't have errors.
[00:57] Goodlookinguy: One moment.
[00:57] Draco2003: lol
[00:57] Draco2003: no problem
[00:59] Goodlookinguy: I just thought about something. Could you take a picture of your code using a screenshot.
[00:59] Draco2003: no... it's not on this computer...
[00:59] Goodlookinguy: I think I might know what the issue is.
[01:00] Goodlookinguy: What? You wrote the code on the computer right?
[01:00] Draco2003: I have been forced to use the family computer because my laptops hard drive died
[01:00] Goodlookinguy: Oh, bummer.
[01:00] Draco2003: The family computer is already messed up big time, so I don't download anything...
[01:01] Draco2003: power cuts out from time to time too
[01:01] Draco2003: real drag, but until I can find the missing piece to my laptop, I am stuck with it
[01:02] Goodlookinguy: I was just wondering if you're getting errors because you're not adding a small piece of code. I had a book back a while ago that was missing "int" at the beggining of the statments. Which always caused errors.
[01:03] Draco2003: I can start a thread and show the code
[01:03] Draco2003: as it is written in the book
[01:03] Goodlookinguy: Why don't you put it in the WRT?
[01:03] Draco2003: alright

[01:19] Draco2003: alright its up
[01:20] Goodlookinguy: I see it. I'll take a lookie lou in MSV08.
[01:21] Draco2003: alrighty
[01:22] Goodlookinguy: There are seven errors. I'll clean them up, if I can.
[01:22] Draco2003: probably missing parts from the previous chapters?
[01:23] Goodlookinguy: Yeah, probably.
[01:23] Goodlookinguy: I see a part that is tried to be put in to motion without "int" before it.
[01:24] Draco2003: I'll post 3.1 too, because it is supposed to be putting the basic windows code into an engine that can be re-used
[01:24] Draco2003: which line?
[01:24] Goodlookinguy: I wanna know. Do you understand the code yourself?
[01:25] Draco2003: A little bit
[01:26] Draco2003: I am assuming it is running basic background checks every game cycle
[01:26] Draco2003: whether or not it is the active program and whether or not the user has decided to end it
[01:28] Goodlookinguy: I see this as being a code tid-bit that I would write, or someones who's been working on C++ for at least 3-4 months would write, that's all. I should show you a good place to learn C++ from.
[01:28] Draco2003: alright. that would be great
[01:29] Goodlookinguy: I'm going to suggest here http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_home.php as a place to start from. They go slower, and I believe do a pretty good job teaching people.
[01:30] Goodlookinguy: Also, I was watching their videos. I do notice that they miss putting in "int" a few times. Other than that, they're good.
[01:31] Draco2003: does it work without the "int" in those places, compile wise?
[01:32] Goodlookinguy: No, most likely not. However, this may be related to MSV.
[01:33] Goodlookinguy: I'm out. I have to go to bed.
[01:33] Draco2003: Just as long as I wasn't going to be forced to debug my learning materials
[01:33] Draco2003: alright
[01:33] Draco2003: g'night
