My favorite is FF VIII. Because of one word. Rinoa. Tis' all.

FF9 was a masterpiece.
FF8 was awful. One word: Squall.

I)ark_Phoenix

FFX was horrible, but not because of Blitzball... blitzball was damn awesome for a mini game. The story, music was all great... I didn't like it because... it was too easy and short.
Thanatos

I agre. FFX was way too easy. I think that as time progresses, the games graphics get better, but the gameplay gets shorter, which sucks. FFVIII was awesome because it was a feat of magnificence. It was the first of its kind to have the graphics it has. And need i mention it was the first to finally have proportionitaly accurate characters. It was like al the others were in midget universe. Then, all of a sudden, God said, "Hey, this sucks. I think it is time to get rid of the stupid midges, and make people look right." Of course i say this, then FFIX comes along. I just wish Squaresoft would make up its mind for once. They keep going back and forth. It is kind of getting boring. Oh well, that is my opinion. Tis All.
I)ark_Phoenix
2002-11-13, 03:50 PM
I agree with that, but I sorta liked how FF9 had their characters' design... FF9's character's were no "midget" and greatly designed. They look very cool, and good "height" for a game. But I guess Square went for just taller people... FFX, XI, X-2... all of them look just like people.
Raziel
2002-11-13, 04:57 PM
FF9's character design was the best in the series. It was inventive and memorable. Realistic character models are a dime a dozen, and are the easiest type of models to produce. If I wanted "realistic" characters, I'd play Metal Gear Solid.
And Vegeta, it's not that Square "can't make up their mind" about artistic style in the Final Fantasy games. There are two different teams that work on every other game. The team that did FF7 did FF9, and the team that did FF8 did FF10. That's why 8 and 10 sucked so badly. They had the same incompetent morons making both games.
I)ark_Phoenix
2002-11-13, 06:04 PM
bah, I didn't even know that. How many "teams" are there? 2?
Raziel
2002-11-13, 08:30 PM
Yeah, just the two. But, Square may not be using the two-team system anymore, considering the head of the company resigned after FF10. Square is under different leadership now, and considering the way their near-future releases look, it's entirely possible that the FF7/FF9 team has been removed from further development on the FF series. If that's the case, my hope in any worthwhile future releases from Square has just died.

True that they were memorable, but the game wasn'tmuch fun. And okay, maybe FFVIII wasn't that hard, but still it was a pretty cool game.At least i thought it was. It was a cool game with great graphics. FFIX i thought was a horrible game. Anyone who had anything to do with that needed to be fired. FFX, sadly i have never played it. So, I can't exactly give an opinion om it.Yet.

FF9 was the best one in the series. The reason being that Square finally decided to forget about creating ridiculous stat/battle systems and focus more on creating well-developed characters, plot, and art for the game. FF9 blew everything else in the series to ashes.

FF8-for the reason of graphics. First in it's series.
FF6/3-Need i say more
FF7-Awesome game. Great graphics for time, and great story line.
FF4-Better than the rest.
FF5-Pretty good story line.
FF10-Haven't played fully. GREAT GRAPHICS, not as much playing time though.
FF9-Good graphics, crappy characters.
I guess all I can say is that it is a matter of opinion.

Jiddar, I didn't really like FF7 that much. The translation was awful, the story was fragmented, and the villain was a pansy.
FF9 on the other hand, had a near-flawless translation, the story made complete sense and was really involving, and Kuja was the greatest FF villain ever. On top of that, it was just a better game in every other category. The graphics were tons better, the music was phenomenal, the gameplay was a lot better, and it was just more fun overall.

Oh, and to everyone that was offended by my remarks on FF9, then I guess it would help you cope to tell you that there was on character I liked. Kuja. Coolest villain ever. Next to Ultimecia in FF8. She was freakin tough to beat. If you didn't cheat.

ok but FF7 was produced in the year 1997 and FF9 2000/1 i think that will explain the graphic and the sound .

I'm an American, Jiddar. And even though FF7 was made 3 years before FF9, that doesn't excuse how bad the translation was, or how lame a villain Sephiroth was.
I just didn't like the game as much as everybody else. It's probably because FF7 was so many people's first Final Fantasy game. FF4 was my first, so a lot of FF7's attraction was lost on me.

i think i now understand why all the people who played FF on SuperNintendo don't like FF7 and FF8 it is because of the style break the older game are more fantasy and mystic style and FF7 and FF8 are more in a future style. with this point of view may be FF9 is better then i thought because it rembers me on the SNES FFs because of the style and that you have 4characters not just three. and there are many small things wich are in FF9 wich were in the SNES FFs but i think the post will to long then.
but i still think FF7 is better then FF9! (view above)

Actually, the sci-fi elements of FF7 were some of my favorite parts. The reason I am so negative towards FF7 is because everybody freaks out over the game, and it's not really as great as most people think it is. So many people worship FF7 because it was the first one to feature 3D graphics, CG cutscenes, and a villain with a really long sword. But, those things don't make a great game for me. A good story, memorable characters, and thoughtful design are what make a great game. And FF7 just didn't stack up in those areas as much as some of the other games in the series. But, that's just my opinion.

Uh Ultimecia was easy... its called Aura/RenzoKuken/Meltdown, but all of my characters was at 99 at the time and Squall had near perfect statistics (Gotta love devourer). And when Ultimecia shows her true for just draw and cast the Apocalypse spell that her bottom half has and beat her down. I only lost one character during that whole battle cause I wanted her to die (It was Quistis) I needed to find one of my characters.

Um...BMS-Ice-. Even if your characters were level 99. it still wasn't that easy. I am not saying Ultimecia was the hardest villain ever, but she was pretty dang hard. For me, Squall was level 95 with 255strenght, 9999hit points, and a few others. Everybody was like level 50 or something. If you keep your other characters level and stuff down, then Squall is amazing. And the GF Bahamut and Eden. The best in the game. I did like 25,000 damage every time I used either of them. Just use boost, and the battle is won.
Oh and I)ark_Phoenix, could you possibly make me a sig. With Final Fantasy. Just use your imaginaiton if you want. You know what FF games I like.
I)ark_Phoenix
2002-11-26, 05:56 PM
I could try and ask a friend to make a simple one...
and excuse me for saying this but... ULTIMECIA WAS A BIG HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! I beat the goddamn boss in less than 10 mins... first bang away with Eden on her first form, and then when it comes to her GF, just crush him with Limit breaks, and then the third form, do the same, and then the last form, use HOLY WAR item on your party when she uses Hell's Judgement and then smash away using limit breaks. She should be dead before the holy war effect goes out.
FF8 was winning because people can't read roman numerals? Maybe... :)

Hell's Judgement is an ability that she uses right when the final battle begins dropping all your characters' HP to 1, giving you an awesome advantage... cast Holy War and start ramming her with limit breaks... simple as that... it took me total of one try to kill her.

exactly my point... that's one of the reasons that ppl didnt like the game because some items and magics were unbelievably cheap making the game really easy.

yeah, Omega was really hard even using holywar cuz it has so much HP and it could instantly kill your party with one move or even before you do anything if you arent ready for them. But Ultima was really easy even without the "cheap" items/magics.

FFVII is winning, and rightfully so. The game was evolutionary, no matter how cheesey the gameplay or bad the translation. Its like Jurassic Park, not the best movie anymore considering what can be done, but it revolutionize the filmmaking industry.
Materia was the best way they planned out all their spells and abilites so far in my opinion. I actually hate the way of taking the ability from the boss in the battle, its so gay!
The Super Bosses were extremely challenging, and getting to Lvl 99 was actually pretty damn difficult. Knights of the Round. What else do I have to say other than there is NO WAY ANYONE could have figured that shit out by themselves and without looking in a strategy guide or walkthrough on the internet. If you did, I give you mad props! :)
Anyway, 8 sucked, too easy, and ending was way too easy. 9 was a lot better than 8 because they actually got back to the "Fantasy" portion of the series (Characters wise). And 10 was pretty decent considering the graphic and sound qualities. 7 is definitely the best so far though, bar none!
I)ark_Phoenix

Not that easy. They were tougher than Ultimecia.
Yes... they were, in fact all of the FF games have bosses that aren't the STRONGEST bosses in the game. Like for instance, FF9... Necron was NOTHING compared to Ozma... and FF8, Ultimecia can be harder than Ultima Weapon but Omega Weapon was the hardest to beat in that game.
