DKWicked, how does anyone know if his attacks are random? The victims might be, but he's obviously not choosing his locations randomly. You don't just walk around on the street with a sniper rifle and say "Ooh, this looks like a good spot!"

actually you look for a good place to hide and that you can see freely to an open field or place , then all it takes is to aim and pull the trigger....

he problably takes the rifle apart and puts it on a suitcase..

But, in order to escape without being caught you need to know the layout of the area. This guy can't just set up a firing post wherever he wants and get away without a trace if he doesn't already know where his exit is.

No sniper would do that. He/she would have been caught within a day if that was the case. This sniper hides in forests, in deserted areas, miles away from his target -- and when one is down, he moves over to another location far away from people, but still in range to kill his next target. He doesn't "drive around town". He is obviously a mad man with a well thought out plan. If he was an Afghan terrorist, he would be after specific people, not random civilians. Watch the news bro. My theory?

Well.. Lets get this straight. He is Crazy, but he's not dumb. He's actualy very smart. Why do i think this? Well has he been caught by the cops or FBI yet? No! He hasn't.... The way we can catch him.... Hmmm.... Did you know that each gun has its own uniqe chamber marking? This Meaning that the shells left behind at the seen(which is shocking to me b/c a trained person would not do that, in fear of being traced..) Has its own uniqe chamber Mark. They can take this chamber mark and match it up with a certin modle of gun. After they have the information about the gun, they can contact every gun dealer in the area and see who they sold that gun to via serial number.

And i bet your thinking.."What if he sawed or filed the serial number off the gun?"

Well.. I was always a good shot in games, and the first time firing a weapon a couple months ago (.22 rifle and m16) I had 37 out of 40 bullets in the bullseye at 75 yards...

Maybe just.. coincidence?

Why does he have to be trained by the military. Big deal he went out bought a .223 calibur scoped deer rifle has probably poached for practie and has done extesive target practicing. so he knows howto find a hidden spot click in wind and distance adjustment on his scope aim and be sick enuff to pull the trigger. it doest take long to go to his next location and find an exit route and spot to shoot from. btw its not 700 meters its more like 30 yards look at the latest home depo shooting he was in the woods by the parking lot. a trained person could shoot that far with a handgun. obviously no1 has seen him so therfore no1 knows the true distance.

its NOT possible to go buy any $200 deer rifle,slap a scope on it and go kill someone from 200+ meters away
that is nearly impossible
for someone to be good enough to shoot from well over 500 feet away and hit with the first bullet...that requires at least a good 2 years of training
not only that but military training helps that alot more than most of you think
for him to successfully elude the police and such with all the freaked out people in dc he must have had some sort of covert training...question is what kind of training
a marine could do the sniping...but only a very skilled one
a seal most likely though...because they are trained to not be seen and also how to do one three-round burst kill (straight through the head)
so if you think its some pudunk hoe from backwoods...your most likely wrong

this is exactly what they are looking for. France just reported to INTERPOL (some global intelligence community) that one of their training marksmen went AWOL in the United States back in September and they havent heard from him since then.
