How long does FF7 take(on average) to beat the game.... Im allready on disk two (just beat Jenova-Alive with ease) and I have only played 20 hrs.... so how long does the whole game take? Is cd-3 big?

Raziel
2002-09-07, 03:07 AM
It depends on how far you want to go in the game. If you just want to go through the story and not really go beyond the necessary path, then it's probably between 30 and 40 hours. If you want to get every last item, Limit Break, Materia, armor piece and weapon it takes substantially longer. Maybe between 50 and 70 hours. Possibly longer.

Hmmm... Taco, I really don't think this thread is any useful to any of us... so next time, please don't make these kind of threads... cuz this is kinda common sense, it could take FOREVER to beat it cuz u might just lvl and walk around and get items and crap, you might not even choose to beat the game until you are like DEAD lol, so ya...

tacoX
2002-09-07, 01:44 PM
Well, im talking about the story line, not going back and lvling and getting shit... (I currently have most of the shit)

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-09-09, 03:01 PM
Ok... I'm not sure what you mean by, "I currently have most of the shit"

Raziel
2002-09-09, 03:33 PM
He thinks he has most of the weapons, armor, materia etc.

tacoX
2002-09-09, 05:25 PM
Well, I mean that im using the guide, and IM getting every item there is on my way... so WITH getting everything...

Raziel
2002-09-09, 06:30 PM
Oh, okay. Well, if you're just going straight through without doing any of the sidequests (Wutai, Chocobo Raising, killing all the Weapons, etc.) then I'd say you're looking at maybe 40 hours. If you want to get ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING in the game, then you're looking at possibly more than 70 hours.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-09-10, 07:33 PM
I would want to get EVERYTHING in the game because...
#1 Thats what I always do in all the FF games... I get all the things that I could get... but if its too hard for me to do the side quest... well then I just quit for awhile and let a friend do it or just come back to it later on...

hmm I only have one reason? lol, gotta think abit more.

Titusfied
2002-10-03, 11:03 AM
Well, after getting EVERY item (which is impossible to figure on your own without having some kind of guide), beating both the weapons, lvling everyone to 99's, finding all the break limits, participating in most of the mini games to a good extent... I played for over 90 hours, but didn't cross the 100 hour mark...

I)ark_Phoenix

90 hours... is that suppose to be impressive? or is it just a normal amount of time?

2002-10-04, 02:10 AM
I got ith materia :D

EvilSteven
2002-10-04, 03:30 AM
ya ok, there is none ^_^

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-04, 01:04 PM
ith materia? lol isn't that from Diablo II? lol

EDIT: oops, i forgot that its Ith RUNE, not materia lol. But does ITH MATERIA exist anyway?

Dark Dragoon
2002-10-04, 02:43 PM
No, hes just fooling with you. But there are some that don't have a name in the japanese version, they were removed yet left in the game code. Note that only the original jap version and not the international/USA versions didn't have them, seeing as via gameshark you could access the hidden materias. However one of the disabled materia's in the jap version became underwater materia.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-05, 03:42 PM
...What can I say...? Well, I can say this...

WOW~

Dark Dragoon
2002-10-06, 08:46 AM
Dark_Pheonix, I'm quite suprised that you would think there was ITH materia in FF7. Looks like someone needs to brush up on their ff7 info :D

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-06, 03:16 PM
Well, you should be surprised that I didn't even FINISH the game.

Dark Dragoon
2002-10-09, 03:26 PM
I'm currently looking at your avatar, and then my previous expression that was on my face when I saw that, and comparing them.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-09, 04:58 PM
right... ANYHOW, I really gotta finish up the game, but the thing is, I'm too lazy to play any other RPG right now. After I beat Kingdom Hearts, I guess I could play abit of those and beat it before the end of the year.

BMS-IcE-

FF7 took me around 3 months to complete when I tried to get everything... getting master materia for every single friggin character takes a fuxin long time. >_<

Raziel
2002-10-12, 03:45 AM
I never went that nuts on the game. I don't think I got any of the master materia.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-14, 08:03 AM
I never got nuts into the game in the first place... after i've played all the FF games once... I just didn't feel like playing FF7... cuz I got bored of the RPG system right now... oh well, its going to have to come back to me.

man chocobo raising was 1 of the greatest sidequests ever. i had like an ultra gold 1 or whatever he beat all the raves on top.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-14, 01:30 PM
that looked pretty good sidequest... but whats up with all the different colors? Do they have like different abilities just like the chocobos in FF9?

quikspy67

as fast as it wants to be

Raziel
2002-10-14, 10:10 PM
Yeah, Phoenix. The light blue ones can cross shallow water, the green ones can cross mountains, the dark blue ones can walk in the ocean, and the gold ones can do all of the above.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-16, 02:06 PM
thats the exact same as FF9 except that they dont have GREEN chocobo in FF9.

JiN-RaiDeN
2002-10-16, 03:52 PM
If you wanna get to level 100 with every character, you'll probably outrun the game clock. And if you want to beat the Weapons, Rudy and Emerald, expect to be playing for a very long time. But you can run through and fuck shit up in 35 hours or so.

I have played Final Fantasy 637 hours on my Personal Computer (PC) I have the save game on floppy somehwere :-) I duplicated the materia Knights of Round exacttly 78 times. As you can tell, i was a complete addict to FF7.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-17, 03:40 PM
huh? FF7 was on Computer? Hum... come to think of it... I remember seeing it on comp when I was like 7 years old... but I'm not sure. Since you say that you have the game on the comp well, can't argue with ya there :P

That's tight. But did you beat the Weapons? Emerald and Ruby. If you didn't beat them, then you have yet to milk the game.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-18, 02:14 PM
What's the deal with the Weapons? Are Emerald and Ruby like Godly hard? Or is it another like Omega and Ultima Weapon but with different looks and name...

Raziel
2002-10-18, 04:29 PM
Ruby weapon is painfully hard because the strategy you need to use is a little weird. Emerald Weapon is certainly tough, but all you have to do is have the Underwater Materia, have your characters at an insanely high level, and do the old "Knights Of The Round/Mimic" trick over and over and over.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-18, 10:01 PM
hey, from what I'm hearing about those 2 weapons from you, I'd say that Ruby is practically Omega and Emerald practically an Ultima.

Raziel
2002-10-18, 11:56 PM
Yeah, that's a fairly good analogy. I would say the two FF8 weapons are much harder than those two FF7 weapons, though.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-19, 10:19 AM
o, well Ultima and Omega... if you really wanna know... it can be easy as hell... you would first get Squall attacked till he gets in low HP status, and then cast Holy War or a Hero per character and unleash large amounts of limit breaks and they'll go down easily.

Raziel
2002-10-19, 05:06 PM
Yeah, I actually forgot about Holy War. I hated that spell. It made everything too damn easy.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-19, 11:00 PM
Well, I liked it because it made the bosses easy :) heh, but ya, it was kinda gay, but hey, it was quite hard to get since you had to beat Quistis in a match of a card game... and you can't even save before you play. Shucks.

btw, Holy War is an item, not a magic spell.

Raziel
2002-10-19, 11:40 PM
It was? I could have sworn it was a spell. Oh well, I didn't really pay much attention to the game after a certain point, so it's no wonder I couldn't remember.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-20, 09:44 AM
heh, I don't remember much from the game except Holy War, because it was one of my main items against Ultimecia :)

Raziel
2002-10-20, 10:04 AM
The only part of the game I thought was really cool was the whole train-scenario, where you had to disconnect the cars and such.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-20, 04:32 PM
I thought it was pretty lame, I hoped that you could fight those guards when they spot you instead of saying stuff like... "Do you want to try again" or "Quit" and get a gameover. Fighting the guards would have been better.

Raziel
2002-10-20, 04:34 PM
Yeah, I agree with you there. Fighting the guards would have made it seem a little more realistic. But regardless, I thought it was a pretty innovative task to stick into a Final Fantasy game.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-20, 05:24 PM
eh, I guess a little spy working type of a miniature mission would be alright lol

JiN-RaiDeN
2002-10-21, 10:10 AM
Emerald and Ruby Weapons are tough as shit. If you wanna know how tough they are, then go play the damn game. Emearld and Ruby are Super Saiyan 3 compared to the other Weapons. Emerald and Ruby are at least 3 times tougher than the last boss.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-21, 06:58 PM
Ho, ho hooold it there... don't bring DBZ into this... DBZ is nothing compared to Final Fantasy... if you want to use a term to prove that Emerald and Ruby is hard, use some other things that are far more superior... DBZ... COME ON!

Emerald, Ruby you say its tough as shit.. and I believe you, and I don't need to actually play to learn how hard... I don't really want to play the game, that's my choice. Now lemme ask you this...

"Compare Ozma in FF9 to the 2 weapons in FF7..."

if you think the 2 weapons are harder to beat... well, then I'd say that these 2 weapons are very difficult. If they AREN'T harder to beat... well, then, I don't think it'll be THAT hard.

Rurouni Storm
2002-10-22, 09:33 AM
Actually, I found Ozma more of a pain.

Each weapon has a trick to beating them. Certain equips on your character will make Ruby almost harmless while Emerald's pretty weak if you have the underwater materia.

JiN-RaiDeN
2002-10-22, 10:18 AM
Damn, ease up on Dragon Ball Z.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-22, 03:20 PM
Yea, really, there is no strategy to Ozma... YOU are the one who has to explore and find out the strat... all the strats that internet has, probably won't work for you...

Raziel
2002-10-22, 04:40 PM
Well, I can say this much. I have beaten both the Ruby and Emerald Weapons, and while they were hard, they weren't the toughest thing I have ever fought in an RPG.

OZMA, on the other hand, is the toughest thing I have ever faced in an RPG. He was the most ungodly, horrifyingly difficult creature ever. I never beat him, and in all honesty, it doesn't really bother me. Something that hard doesn't need to be beaten.

Rurouni Storm
2002-10-22, 06:38 PM
How about Omega weapon from FF5? He was actually invincible.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-22, 07:55 PM
I remember one of the games in Gameboy... I think it was called something like Final Fantasy Legend II.. I'm not sure, but I couldn't beat Apollo the last boss in that game lol, I threw everything I've got at the guy but damn, I never thought of being stuck in a gameboy game~ I think he was a fairly hard boss compared to all the other gameboy games... but I have no idea about FF5's Omega Weapon for one simple reason... "Never played it"

Rurouni Storm
2002-10-22, 09:16 PM
Well, FF5's Omega weapon could not be defeated. You had to avoid fighting him altogether as he actually had infinite HP and could wipe out your entire party with one attack.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-23, 04:04 PM
hum, I don't really see the point of having an INVINCIBLE Omega Weapon... because just Omega Weapon is pretty hard enough to beat lol... Invincible... sounds pretty stupid.

Raziel
2002-10-23, 06:06 PM
If Omega Weapon is invincible, then technically he's not the hardest FF boss. If he can't be defeated he's not a boss at all, he's an obstacle to be avoided.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-23, 06:49 PM
I wouldn't say he is a "boss" anyways... he is just a special monster that challenges you to a fight to prove who's best.

mightychicken
2002-10-24, 08:47 PM
Ruby weapon is the hardest monster in the game, not omega.

BMS-IcE-
2002-10-24, 09:57 PM
Ruby and Emerald from FF7 are pretty hard, if you try to fight Emerald without Underwater you will get screwed cause of the timer, and if you don't get the certain items for Ruby its really hard to kill him.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-25, 02:05 PM
so, lemme guess... Emerald Weapon is under water, and there are time limits for you to stay underwater? and thats why you need the "underwater" materia? Sounds pretty easy, but I'll never know unless I try.

Raziel
2002-10-25, 09:45 PM
Yeah, Emerald Weapon is underwater. But the time limit isn't the tough part. He's just a tough boss. He has a ton of HP, and has a lot of attacks that will knock your party out almost instantly if you're not quick enough to stop him.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-26, 06:39 PM
just like Ultima Weapon and Omega in FF8... Ultima can knock out one of your party member with a single Light Pillar or something... so you must be fast and quickly use Lionheart to finish him...Omega, he can woop your entire party in one shot... but the ALOT OF ATTACKS part... it wont refer to Ultima but it certainly refers to OMEGA, he has just too many powerful attacks that it almost irritates me.

Dark Dragoon
2002-10-28, 03:53 PM
Emerald is a piece of cake. Quadra Magic + Demi with HP Absorb + Mime takes him out, when it stops doing less than 9999, whack him. Ruby, just W-Summon Hades and KoTR with HP Absorb + Mime. Ultima weapon, although cool looking, is pathetic. I was able to beat him with a lvl 30 group (yes lvl 30!). Tried Omega once, got whacked by Megido Flame.

LVL30 group eh? Pretty unbelievable but if you say so. Ultima Weapon is pretty hard I'd say since you don't get to stay alive too much unless you heal really fast and without mistake... pretty hard. Lvl 30 group... still damn unbelievable lol, you mind telling us HOW?

Raziel
2002-10-29, 06:48 AM
Ultima Weapon is actually fairly easy. You have to fight him five times, I think. Between each battle you can heal yourself, but Ultima Weapon can't. Like Doomgaze from FF6.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-29, 02:53 PM
OOOOO, I thought you guys were talking about FF8 Ultima Weapon... cuz it's quite impossible, cuz his normal physical attacks could kill your entire party in 3 shots if you aren't fast enough.

Raziel
2002-10-29, 03:03 PM
Arg! This is getting a little confusing...

I was talking about the Ultima Weapon from FF7. I'm not sure which one you guys are referring to.

I)ark_Phoenix

I think Dark Dragoon was talking about FF7, ugh, I didn't know that there was a Ultima Weapon in FF7... until today when a person i know in class told me about it... where it flies around during the fight.

Raziel
2002-10-30, 03:27 AM
Yeah, you have to fight him on the deck of the Highwind. You have to chase him around the world map and fight him every time he stops. Which ends up coming out to about five fights.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-10-30, 02:08 PM
hey, I might start the game this weekend since I finished KH and I have no other games to play heh, unless of course, I get Vice City...

we can do that but too bad it's not about Final Fantasy. Go to the Gameboy Advance forum for it lol. Golden Sun is a pretty good game... I'm not that far but I've played quite abit and kept me busy for few weeks. It's on my emulator but it's still cool.

Dark Dragoon

Sigh, the Ultima Weapon I was talking about is from FF8. However, one person did a low lvl game in FF7, was able to beat up Safer Sephiroth with lvl 40 and below group w/o KoTR. ANyways as for me doing it, pretty simple. Cast aura on everyone, have Squall do Renzokuken, have Zell do the cheap trick with his limit (you know, the one described as "Armageddon Fist"), and have Quistis use white wind + big guard. Make sure you have triple junctioned to speed, ultima to strength, meltdown to VIT, Curaga to HP. You should be able to whack him quickly, however I liked to mess around with Ultima Weapon. I would cast weak spells against him until he did Light Pillar or Meteor, at which point I revived whoever died, or just finished him off.

I)ark_Phoenix
2002-11-03, 06:20 PM
Hmm, maybe I should try that strategy... but the thing was... I didn't use Zell, nor Quistis. I used Irvine and Rinoa.
