Nintendo No Longer Making consoles?

I was reading in IGN that nintendo may no longer be a console developer. They will instead shift there production much like Sega and begin being a game developer only.
I have been looking for the link to the article but I can't find it.
the main reason for this speculation is due to the fact that Sony and microsoft is already looking for game developers for there next console why nitnedo is only concentrating on the GC, but who knows only time can tell

Note: do not move this as it will effect all consoles and not just Nintendo...

I heard that they are just going to stick with the game cube for a few generations before making a new console.

No; thats just 'fable'.... I was reading around about that and its not that they are going to stop; but they may evaluate about making games. At this moment; they are actually doing quite well!

I belieave that are ranked 2nd for the consols; which as all you may know; is not very bad at all!

For example; sega came in 2nd for GENESIS, terrable for sega cd, 32x, etc... and then saturn came out and flopped. Dreamcast was good for like 2 weeks; and then it died..

Nintendo has only had one flop.. N64. Who would have thought that nintendo would be second 10 years ago...

if only they went through with sony then they would be the console giant...

I hope they do build another console, I am not neccesarily a fan but more consoles on the market= competition= lower prices

Well; I think they should stick with gamecube a bit longer (ex 4+ years). It would not be finically right to do that...

Anyways; me and my brother may go and split the cost and get a gamecube...

I have wanted a gamecube for sometime now, but everytime I go to get it something good comes out on one of the consoles I own.
Like socom my brother is now buying another ps2 just so me and him can play at the same time :D

the thing that might commit me to it is perfect dark 2, or the final fantasy on gamecube but I dunno the online play of the ps2 is awesome

Game Cube should quit now if u ask me i thinks its doing bad and pluse if almost dead or dead already. i Dont think they will be able to handle the next war its just PS vs XBOX

No I dont think so, the game cube is doing second (really it is I have seen statistics).
No one in Japan, or UK is buying the X-Box so that is why the GC is doubling sales.

The statistics show
PS2-Everyone buys
Gamecube-Everyone buys
X-Box- North America buys

The more consoles the less cost, so actually it is kinda a good thing that Nintendo didnt merge with Sony.
