The same side of Mercury always faces the Sun, like the same side of the Moon always faces the Earth. So I would assume that Mercury would be the answer...

Well actually both Mercury and Venus are correct they both have phases... :P But the answer I was looking for was Venus.

So.. Venus was the right answer, but Mercury is the right answer as well, except you don't want Mercury (which is the right answer), you want Venus (which is also the right answer.)
