well, since BMX inspired me with his almightly big ego on the topic of this matter, i decided to come up with a question for him. other people too, are welcome to try and solve it. but just no finding your answers on the web!
and the question is:
what was the number one biggest reason did people figured out to prove that the Earth is not flat but indeed round?

Shadow of the Earth on the Moon? Or maybe it's Bob.

Uh because a person could travell forever and not fall off the "edge" of the earth...though he may fall off the edge of a cliff.. but not the world..

no that was later done to proven the theory.

Because the moon and sun appeared round to them.. and they thought maybe their planet was round...

This isn't really a set answer... theres lots of possibilities...

Because at different places in the world, the shadow cast by a vertical pole at noon of the same day was different. In one place the pole may not cast a shadow, while in another, it does. If the world were flat the differences in the shadow would not be noticable.

I believe they figured out that gravity has to pull into the center, and it has to be spherical to make gravity to work.

they put someone sitting on an island and have a ship to travel to that person if the earth is indeed flat he would see the entire ship getting bigger but if it was round then he would only see the top of the ship and then slowing the rest. way simplier then you thought it'll be eh?

so his was more 'complicated'. but it takes a more complicated mind to figure out something so unheard of back then using a method so simple.
