Heh, reminds me of a conversation a few years back on how to bring life to Zelaron, which covered, at one point, a higher user level gained by paying a certain amount of money a month.

I know quite a few forums that do that on a yearly subscription. One of them is even $100 a year and gives you special username color and access to the VIP forums. It's pretty surprising how many people I see pay for it.

I'm sure a lot of them aren't paying. Just like Curse.com, some people are given premium for free, because they are the ones that give value to the premium service.
