Anyone a fan?

I watched the film Serenity tonight, and have promptly started to acquire the Firefly series. I was just wondering if anyone watched it way back in 2002, or on a medium of your choice any time since, and what your thoughts on it were.

Unfortunately, I didn't hear about it untill it was on DVD. I have it on DVD, and Serenity on DVD and Blu-ray.

I take it from the "unfortunately" that you rather enjoy them?

Yes, but I did not watch FireFly first run on TV, which is what you were asking about.

Hmm. So I did. Quickly rectified.

So, your thoughts?

Firefly? What's it about? I've never hear of it, then again I watch T.V. maybe once a month.

It's very good. All the actors fit very well in their roles. The story was good, and the setting was unfortunately unique (because we need more grade A space westerns, damnit).

Space westerns? Like Coybow Bebop?

Yes. Firefly is like Cowboy Bebop from the perspective of the other side of the law, though these aren't the hardened criminals you see there -- just people trying to survive.

I'm pretty much still a Browncoat, even though it was three years since I last watched the original series. Whedon could probably pull off a second season even on a budget on par with Dr Horrible's Sing Along Blog.

Unfortunately, he said he'd never work with the people who own the rights again.

I watched Firefly/Serenity recently. I enjoyed them quite a lot, though not as much as most people seem to. I wouldn't say it's the best series I've ever seen, but it's certainly a good one.

It doesn't have to be the best. Genuinely good TV drama is few and far between.
