Anyone else excited? I went to the Jags preseason game against the Redskins. It was excellent, sat in the bottom section under the bud zone after we had scalped some very cheap seats.

Go Jags! Playing IN Indianapolis this Sunday at 1:00pm, hope they're ready.

No no, he means "those guys" as in douchebags, which translates into "I'm a Patriots fan". Don't worry though, "those guys" applies to Colts fans too, as well as the Eagles.

That's hilarious. You guys have Percy Harvin now too, and I think eventually he might step out and be a good NFL player. Most Gators don't translate well into the NFL but Percy Harvin is a monster, you guys should enjoy his time there for sure. Tonight is the night! Pittsburgh vs Texans!

So fucking happy the season is FINALLY starting again. Can't wait to see how the Colts are gonna do this year without Dungy. I'm thinking another Superbowl. :D

You're not thinking clearly then. I'd say the Colts will be 10-6 this year and get blown out the first round of the playoffs.

As long as Peyton Manning is our quarterback we have a legitimate shot of getting to the Superbowl every single year.

Just watch out for the blitz this year. Oh and the game tonight is Pittsburgh vs Titans, not Houston.

Should be a slow, defensive game.

They were the top 2 defensive-ranked teams last year.

D3V
2009-09-10, 04:51 PM
I'd assume Pittsburgh would come out and win. But if I know Jeff Fisher he isn't going to want to lose the opener, especially the regular season opener. I wouldn't expect anything less than trickery atleast once during this game, not sure in what scenario but it could happen. Should still be a good game to watch.

Thanatos

Colts > Jags just like I predicted. Close game, though. MJD stomped us like always.

Gotta love that every other team in the AFC South is 0-1 except for the Colts. :D

The Bills' kick returner is to blame for that loss. 6-7 yards deep in the endzone with 2 minutes left.. not only does he decide to run it out, he fumbles it at the 25. Fire him.

Da Birds came out strong, then of course McNabb goes down. This week should be interesting. I'm assuming Kevin Kolb will get the start, with Garcia lurking in the background at halftime if he's not doing well. Colts and Jags always have a close game, but I knew the Colts would pull it out. Jags are garbage, won't even make the playoffs. Giants Defense is for real, for real... Their offense, not so much though....

Sum Yung Guy
2009-09-16, 01:00 PM
The best was when McNabb went down and then the camera changed to Vick clapping his hands. (He was clapping because what you didn't see was McNabb getting back up) It was lol. Vick for QB

D3V

Jags are garbage, won't even make the playoffs.

So the first game of the year with 26 new players you automatically write the Jaguars off? Holding Peyton Manning's team, whenever the year, to 14 points is a pretty big accomplishment in itself. It's not every day that a team can come up to Indy for their homeopener and keep the points off the board as effectively as they did. I will agree the final drive was garbage, and there were a few scattered garbage plays, but as a team overall I still hold high faith that this season they can overcome their rookie issues and play some good football.

I mean, they only lost by 2 points, how can you call them garbage? Obviously you don't even know what you're talking about. It's easy to write the Eagles off as #1 when they have a dominant performance as they did. We'll see how they play against the Saints, I'm thinking you might be singing a different song the same time next week.

And not that it counts, but they pretty much did manhandle Philly's #1's and #2 stringers in the preseason.

Thanatos
2009-09-16, 02:40 PM
Before the season started I read an article from an "EXPERT ANALYST" that had the AFC South as follows:

1. Houston 10-6
2. Jacksonville 9-7
3. Indianapolis 8-8
4. Tennessee 7-9

Why was everyone all over Houston's nutsack before the season started? Once again, the Colts will win the AFC South and make it to the playoffs. For the 87th year in a row.

BTW, if Jacksonville had a decent QB they'd be an elite team. Garrard is worse than Vince Young.

The Vikings could be a super bowl contender, if they don't choke in the first round like they always do. Come Sunday they are going to rape the already pathetic Lions. AP may get 200+ rushing yards.

2007 with a franchise-record 102.2 passer rating and finished as the NFL's best in third down passing (128.8) … Led Jaguars to a 9-3 mark as a starter in 2007, the most wins by a Jaguars starter since Brunell posted a 13-2 record in 1999 … Led Jaguars to first postseason win since 1999 … Set the franchise single-season record in 2007 with 64.0 completion percentage … In 2007 finished with second lowest interception percentage in a season for any quarterback in NFL history in 2007 with 300-plus attempts, at 0.92 (3 ints. in 325 atts.)

He is no different than he was in '07 except our line was decimated the beginning of 2008. The offensive line is the exact reason the other peices of the puzzles have fallen off the mark. There are 4 new lineman this year etc. He is a great quarterback and we have nothing to worry about. Just don't count them out so soon.

Same thing with Houston, watch for a possible upset this weekend. I'm not sure though, Tennessee on both sides of the ball was completely dominant last week.

Lost the game by two touchdowns to defending NFC Champs? Not that bad really. The dominance was only by Kurt Warner. I don't know what flipped his switch from going out of his worst performance of his career to his best but he did.

I mean obviously startin 0-2 is not the way anyone wants to ever start out, but it is what it is. I was at the stadium yesterday and the humidity was in the mid 90's on the weatherboard they had outside. I'm sorry for all the players that had to play in crap weather like that, being hard to breathe and all. I'm just looking at the Jaguars realistically. If you take away their blocked field-goal return for a TD the Jags would've only been down by one score, but hey that's the NFL and those awesome plays will never go away. I'm just hoping Jaguars can keep working on the issues they've had and continue to strive making the best plays possible, every single down.

Ya'll pay attention to MNF tonight as the Colts poach the Dolphins.

Should be a good game. I think the wildcat will hurt you guys more than you think. Miami will hopefully be running the plays that should've been run against you guys the first week and eaten you up. Short slants across the middle and dumpout wildcat plays sweeping left or to the right.

Did anyone see the giants/cowboy's game? If not you've probably at least seen a highlight reel, with the interception that bounced off of the receiver's foot. If you haven't seen it you should look it up. Too bad the faggot of a referee was so quick to blow his whistle, but the giants got the touchdown a few plays later anyways. I love seeing the cowboys get beat, especially during the first game in their new stadium.

Peyton Manning is a god.

*fixed*

For real, the Colts won last night with the least amount of posession time for a winning team since 1977. How did we do this? Peyton Fucking Manning. He is so on target when it really counts. Our defense was getting absolutely dominated by the Wildcat, and the Dolphins had the ball for more than 3 quarters, yet we still somehow won.

Colts 2-0
Houston 1-1
Jags 0-2
Titans 0-2

I like the way this season is starting. :D

agreed. I think everyone that's not a Pats fan is always happy to see them lose. Haha. As for Homo, I think he'll progress more as he does every year and turn out to be a pretty solid QB by the end of the season. He's always so wishy-washy and can't really be counted on. Now on the other hand, Byron Leftwich seems to be having some good games so far and might take off this season, watch out! Hahaha.

Just because the Colts are 2-0 doesn't mean they've been playing like a 2-0 team. They barely beat out the Jags, and got dominated against Miami and somehow once again found a lucky victory. I guess sometimes it's better to be lucky than good, huh?

Colts were lucky that Miami's D had a breakdown. That's all. Peyton noticed they had a breakdown, and the Colts just happened to win. That's all that ever happens with lucky victories. Luck.

Which is why he is one of the best QBs of all time. The Colts will continue to be a good team as long as this guy is the QB. There's no luck about having 12+ win seasons 5 years in a row. NFL record, btw.

Titusfied
2009-09-24, 11:49 AM
Can't argue that point. At what point does "he's lucky" just turn into "he's a difference maker"? I'm not even that blind D3V. Sure, the Colts aren't playing very good right now, but they are still finding ways to win, which is all that really matters. If the Eagles don't win this week (next to impossible, right?), I will never post on Zelaron again (except to maybe say bye in this thread).

D3V
2009-09-24, 11:55 AM
I only say luck on last week's game. Learn to read. As I said, they were dominated the entire game and found a way to win. They got DOMINATED. That does not mean they are good. They looked like the Dolphin's bitch a very large amount of the game and had some sort of record low for time of posession, amirite? That's why I say luck. I'm not saying Peyton isn't a good QB, but just this year so far and especially last week's game the team as a whole were lucky.

So, the Jags going to go 0-3, D3V? Houston's offense looked pretty strong against Tennessee last week.. I donno if you guys will be able to contain them. Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson all day long.

D3V
2009-09-25, 11:44 AM
Jacksonville is going to outscore them. And I still believe Jacksonville's secondary is much stronger than Tennessee's. Houston has issues running the ball and the Jags have been great at stopping it, so all that needs to really be focused on is stopping the pass, which is what the Jags did in Indy, for the most part. It's still early, we'll see how things pan out. Of course I'm not wanting the Jags to go 0-3, but I'm not ruling it out either.

With the type of play and numbers Jaguars have been posting thus far I would count them out too, if I wasn't their fan. It's easy to look at the mistakes without focusing on the good things they've been doing. They're going to continue all year getting better and better. Just wait.

D3V
2009-09-28, 09:32 AM
That was an excellent game for 'ole Favre. I'm suprised too they actually managed a finish like that, I figured they would've sputtered. They might be a force this season over the longhaul, but it's still early. I was suprised at how well Peyton played last night, and gladly so being that he's on my fantasy football team :)

That was a fantastic game all around. I can't even be mad about the 49ers loss as they looked good throughout and the Vikings' last drive was quite pretty.

Unlike the Steelers vs. Bengals game. What a mess. Holmes was awful. The Steelers have yet to really look good this season. That loss, however was just terrible. It's not even like the Bengals went out and played great or even all that well really.

REALLY nice throw/catch by Favre and his receiver. The old man still has it in him. I heard Vikings fans were booing earlier and then Favre delivers something like that. STFU and eat a dick, fans. You will NEVER hear Colts fans booing their home team.

BTW, Colts lookin pretty sexy after that game last night. 3-0 leading the division, although did you expect any less? lol @ all the "EXPERT ANALYSTS" that said the Colts would suck without Tony Dungy and Marvin Harrison. Although, I'm worried about D. Freeney... he's having an MRI today and last night he said he "felt something pop" - not good. :(

Titusfied

Definitely not good for Freeney...

MJD looked awesome yesterday, so congrats D3V. I thought I recalled you also claiming that Byron Leftwich was going to be good this year... Well, he was just demoted to backup to Josh Johnson... That's pathetic.

Eagles looked solid as hell too. Granted it was against KC, but they still did it without McNabb OR Westbrook. Impressive to me.

I too have Peyton, and he single handedly should get me the fantasy win this week. Thanks Thanatos!

I'd tend to think that Pittsburgh may be on a downward turn. Willie Parker I still believe is on his own downswing and may be unable to bounce back from injuries as fast as he has before, he's getting old. It's a young mans game, right?

Weaver: Jaguars might play a game a year in Orlando:

Declaring that Jacksonville can't be a viable NFL city selling 46,000 tickets a game, Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver said Wednesday that the team might start playing a regular-season game in Orlando each year if the league expands the regular season to 17 or 18 games.

Ouch. It sucks to be surrounded by a bunch of arrogant idiots in Jacksonville. Nobody seems to be able to afford tickets, and they can't afford tickets because they don't have a good job, and they don't have a good job because they don't have a good education, and they don't have a good education because our schools are horrible, and our schools are horrible because the leadership in this state is corrupt, and the corruption continues because the state is run by Republicans, which is how i've come to the conclusion to blame Jaguars ticket sales on Republicans, as a whole.

Thanatos

Republicans are to blame for everything.

That does really suck, though, that you can't even watch home games because they're blacked out. I remember living in Arizona back when the Cardinals were shitty and most of the games were blacked out; it sucked. I don't feel like they should black out ANY games just because there are 200 or so emtpy seats. Seems unfair.. but I guess that's business for ya.

Yeah, we have the opposite situation. I would love for the seats to be sold out that way I could pick and choose what games to go to and scalp tickets or whatever. I think all of the Gator fans that live around here have a hard time following two teams, especially with the fairweather-ness.

But that does suck for you there isn't any way you can get other tickets or what? You guys have a PSL system too don't you? Dish out some more money and you can get yours, haha.

Yes, greed does play a role in this decision. They say it helps drive ticket sales, but if people aren't watching the game in the stands or on the TV then general interst of the team could diminish. All the Jaguars have to do is start winning and issues like this will dissolve. The problem is they lost over 22,000 Season ticket holders over the offseason, which is a terrible number. Everyone blames the "economy"

Ah yes! The game was excellent. There was a slight rain for about 5 minutes an hour before the game and that was it. Tennessee was dominated pretty handedly, but they are also not the same team that they were. I'll try and get some pics from the game up, with all of the pink towels they handed out.

We play Tennessee this upcoming weekend. I'm thinking 34 - 10 Colts? Our defense has really stepped it up the past two games. Robert Mathis last game: 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles - he is one of the most underrated DEs in the entire league.

Nice win by the Vikings. Favre has now beaten all 32 NFL teams. Pretty sure he's the only one that can boast that.

It's either going to be a blow out by the Colts or Tennessee could start a run. I swear they have so much talent still on their team but they just can't seem to get things together, they're missing 'chemistry' i'd say.

As for the Colts, they have been playing much better. I'm happy to see Peyton taking off, as the AFC South gets much more notice.

Last night's game was fantastic, and yes the 32 team record is just crazy. He came out and played like a champion last night. I was actually somewhat suprised, but figured they would still pull off the 'W'.

Week 5 should be intersting.

*Oh, and:

FedEX AIR Players of the Week.

David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars
Garrard led an offense that gained 442 total yards by completing 27 of 37 passes for 323 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars' 37-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts
Manning completed 31 of 41 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts' 34-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks. Manning became just the third quarterback in NFL history to start a season with four consecutive 300-yard games.

Brett Favre, Minnesota Vikings
In his first game against his old team, Favre completed 24 of 31 for 271 yards and three touchdowns to help the Vikings beat the Packers, 30-23.

I was just waiting for somebody else to bump it, but yeah. I watched almost the entire game, it got to the point either late in the 3rd or early in the 4th where I just started laughing at all of the shit that was going wrong. Just a total and absolute catastrophy by the Jaguars. Everyone is disappointed. But hats off to the Seahawks, they came out a different team yesterday and the Jaguars weren't ready for it.

I could go on and make up excuses but it's just like the Cardinals game, they came out on fire and the Jaguars had none. There were off the field issues too apparently this last weekend. Quentin Groves was involved in an accident near JIA and apparently fled the scene, but no official word on that yet. Mike Sims Walker was sat on the bench, and no reasoning behind that either. They had to fly from Jville to Seattle (not sure if the 3500mile trip would throw them off or not) and ugh.

Oh well, I have Peyton on my fantasy team so all is not bad. I'm not losing my faith in the Jaguars. I'm actually about to buy my tickets for this next sunday's against St Louis.

.......Of course. Anybody who doesn't agree with you is clearly wrong and knows nothing, amirite?

Yeah I was surprised the Jags got absolutely STOMPED. You guys are just handing the AFC South to the Colts, thanks btw

Wait, what? What does losing an out of conference, out of divison game have to do with the AFC South? What are you even rambling about? That has nothing to do with the AFC South. You go by wins and then division rankings so losing one game means nothing.

Colts next games:

@ St. Louis
vs. 49ers
vs. Texans
vs. Patriots

I can easily see us going 9-0.

In St Louis could be a suprising game for the Colts. You don't know that they are going to win, nobody does. The 49ers are in the same category, they could pull an upset against the Colts considering the type of football they play. And then there were two. The Texans aren't going to bow down to the Colts neither are the Patriots.

Once again, the Colts will win the AFC South and make it to the playoffs

They're good at that but not good at going any futher. Kinda like those damn Eagles, huh?

So, the Jags going to go 0-3, D3V? Houston's offense looked pretty strong against Tennessee last week.. I donno if you guys will be able to contain them. Matt Schaub to Andre Johnson all day long.

No, they dominated Houston completely. So, looks like you are wrong.

And it will be exciting to see AP running all over the entire Packers team.

Actually he had 25 carries and 55 yards along with 1 catch for 0 yards. doesn't sound like "running all over" to me.

It is going to be exciting watching the Packers pick apart the Vikings secondary.

Aaron Rodgers threw for 384 and 2TDs, with one pick. Sounds like he picked it apart pretty well, i'd say. Well i'm not saying it, the stats are. But since I don't know anything about football, then shit..

lol Colts shit all over the Seahawks and then they go out and shut out Jags 41-0. Ouch. I mean, they couldn't even get a FIELD GOAL lmao. Now you have your best player bitching at the coaching staff and you can't even watch home games because they're blacked out. Not going too well in ol' Jacksonville.

You predicted the upset against Titans vs. Colts, right? And what happened? Colts dominate them, just like they will against St. Louis. If you're really picking St. Louis over the Indy, then yes, you probably don't know anything about football. All the Colts have to do is get an early lead (which they will) and St. Louis is forced to pass to catch up. Kyle fucking Boller going to lead them to victory against one of the best pass rushing combos in the NFL? Not likely.

No, one out of conference game doesn't mean the race for the AFC South is over, but the way things are going, the outcome is predictable.

I'll break this down for Thanatos since he doesn't know what domination is. And once he learns his lesson, he will just try and say that St Louis is just a shitty team, etc etc, bullshit about peyton manning and then disappear for another week.

Passing

David Garrard threw for 335 yards with 2 picks in the Red Zone. Marc Bulger had 213 yards with one td and one pick

Rushing

Steven Jackson had 50 yards rushing. Maurice Jones-Drew had 133 yards, and David Garrard had 30 yards running of his own.

Receiving

Steven Jackson had 78 yards receiving. Mike Sims-Walker had 9 catches for 120 yards, Torry Holt had 5 for 101, Mike Thomas 7 catches for 52 yards, and Mojo had 5 for 45.

So far, all I see is domination. But hey, these are just the statistics.

3rd down efficiency for St Louis was 4/12 and for the Jaguars was 11/16.

Total net yards for St Louis was 262 yards, as for the Jags it was 492. 500 yards of offense? Nice.

Time of Posession: St L had 24:48 and the Jags had 42:12.

That is basically domination. I'm sorry you just looked at the score and seen the Jags won in overtime.

Thanatos
2009-10-19, 03:25 PM
No I did not watch the game, it didn't broadcast in Indianapolis and I doubt it did in Jacksonville, either.

The Vikings barely squeaked out a win. Damn Childress likes to run the ball when he has a point cushion, when he should be running up the score. The pass game was working all game for the Vikings, so I don't see why they couldn't finish off Baltimore by doing that They are getting overconfident and cocky. I don't have to listen to somebody who's never played the game outside of their local park. Obviously you don't know what you're talking about and can only refer to the final score for your assumptions. It must be nice being simple.

*I mean, the fact that the Jaguars dominated them, you said they didn't, but the stats show they did, avoid my point and bring up other bullshit to sway away from the emphasis is just hilarious. There is no guarantee they will dominate them. The Broncos back in '97 were supposed to dominate the Jag-Wads, and what happened? They got upset at home in the playoffs.

Dominated between the 20's, but when it counted they shit the bed. That's odd, I remember seeing Jaguars 23 and St Louis 20. Looks like they won, I don't see how that's "shitting the bed".

You just gave a reason that makes no sense and you are saying because the score was close that doesn't mean domination. You guys are both idiots if you think the final score of any game deems domination or not. The stats are the sole indicator if a team dominates another team. That is it.

Listen, maybe your definition of domination in football terms is different than mine, but you are seriously one of the biggest homer losers I've ever come across. Open up your mind. You do realize that you just quoted an upset from '97 and used it as a basis for your arguement on why Indy MIGHT not dominate a team in 2009, right? Get a grip man.

Do you even know what I meant when I said you dominated between the 20's, but shit the bed in the red zone? Because your retort shows you don't. I will gladly explain it to your dense brain if you wish.

I know what you fucking mean! They didn't shit the bed, St Louis made excellent plays in the Red Zone and that's it. How come you can't give St Louis any credit? My retort was to try and persuade my original argument, which sailed gracefully over both of your heads. Please, explain to me your definition of domination.

Domination would be 59-0 that the Patriots gave the Titans. Domination is not beating an 0-5 team in OT. Big difference.

59-0 obviously is domination, but you reasoning is not correct. You both point to the final score, not the statistics of the game. It's as simple as that. You guys feel that the final score of the game deems domination and the stats obviously mean nothing. It's like talking to a brick wall with both of you. You have no reasoning for calling me dense, either.

Me speaking my opinion that Indy probably won't "DOMINATE" St Louis is just that, an opinion. Somehow you guys can't seem to see that, and deem it homerism on my part and try to spin the entire argument around on the emphasis of..well, nothing.

I watched the game. I watch basically every game, every week. The Jags didn't look good. MJD is the lone bright spot right now, aside from sparatic good play from Garrard. He had a pick towards the end of the game that almost cost them the game. Good OT win, albeit against the Rams...

Tough loss to the Steelers. It was a pretty good defensive battle, but those two defensive TDs for Pit just sealed it for them. I think the tripping call when the Vikings were in the red zone was complete bullshit. The Viking didn't even see the guy coming and the defender just fell down. Barring an unforeseen meltdown in the remainder of the season, it looks like the Colts will be getting home-field advantage in the Playoffs with us leading the tie-breaker with the Patriots. Thanks, Bill!

Oh and the Jags game this weekend. Best game all season by far. 'We' are now technically playoff wildcard contenders, and if we can keep somewhat of a pace over the next few weeks maybe something can get sparked? For a rebuilding year this would be amazing.

The best thing to every happen to the Jags was Sims Walker. It has opened up running lanes for MJD and he has taken advantage. I think next year your draft is going to be for a secondary player, and then another WR or RB. I like how your team is looking in the future. Your QB is actually pretty decent when he gets time to throw and has WR's that can catch.

My Giants started the year off good, and i thought that this might be the year that Eli completely leaves all the doubters in the past, but of course, injuries and pressure set us back. Oh well, like i said earlier in this thread, i cannot be too upset since i have now offically seen a parade for both the G-Men and Yankees.

I am predicting right now that the NFC game is going to be the Saints vs the Vikings and in the AFC it is going to be the Colts vs Pitt. SUperbowl Champs= Vikings

Yeah? It sucks since we've had him for a while but he's been injured for almost two years. Finally.

Yeah, i've got Eli as my backup and i've noticed. I haven't really noticed what's changed to have caused this slump but I'm sure you guys can get back on track. I mean injuries aside, the team should still be pretty good but I guess they've just gotten stuck. Who do you guys play next?

I am predicting right now that the NFC game is going to be the Saints vs the Vikings and in the AFC it is going to be the Colts vs Pitt. SUperbowl Champs= Vikings

I'll agree basically with that. I'm thinking the Colts are going to get knocked out though in the AFC champ game. As for the NFC, who knows? The vikes have been looking great all year as well as the Saints and i'm sure they're both going to be favored the rest of the playoff run. I'm still not sold on the Saints for some reason, they're great to watch but I just feel as if they aren't going to run through the playoffs, upset.

AFC Playoff tiebreakers

Cincinnati earns the No. 2 seed over San Diego and New England based on strength of victory (.471 over Chargers' .457 and Patriots' .386)
San Diego earns the No. 3 seed over New England based on strength of victory (.457 to Patriots' .386)
Jacksonville earns the No. 5 seed over Denver and Pittsburgh based on conference record (5-2 over Broncos' 5-3 and Steelers' 4-3).
Pittsburgh earns the No. 6 seed over Denver based on head to head (1-0)

NFC Playoff tiebreakers

Dallas earns the No. 3 seed over Arizona based on conference record (6-2 over Cardinals' 5-2)
Philadelphia earns the No. 5 seed over the N.Y. Giants based on head to head (1-0) and over Green Bay based on conference record (5-2 to the Packers' 5-3).
Green Bay earns the No. 6 seed over the New York Giants based on conference record (5-3 to Giants' 4-3).

Here are the wild card breakdowns as they stand today. The next week officially starts tomorrow on Turkey Day, I sure hope the Jags can come back with a 'W' against San Fran, it would possibly make them the only 7-4 team in the AFC, which would mean number uno in the wildcard race. Only a few weeks left!

That's all they are: opinions.

It's okay though, I was expecting this. I knew if the Saints beat the Patriots last night, all the power polls would say the Saints are better, even though people are forgetting we beat the same exact Patriots team 3 weeks ago and we were #1 in the polls. I had this exact discussion last night with some friends while watching the game. It's too bad we won't get to see who's the better team this year unless they match up in the Superbowl. Wouldn't it be awesome if both teams go 18-0 and meet in the Superbowl? It would have to be the best Superbowl in the fuckin century.

Ahh well, at least my favorite team isn't the Jacksonville Jaguars. :)

So... two teams 13-0 now. The Saints have been slipping a little lately, but with home field advantage I could still see them reaching the Superbowl undefeated.

On the other side of the...league... the Colts look pretty good. I'm pretty sure now they won't be losing to the Bengals or Patriots, but the Chargers are a big threat.

Jaguars Playoffs Scenario as of: 12/29/09

Case 1: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Bengals beat the Jets, and Chiefs beat the Broncos, and Patriots beat the Texans, and Dolphins beat the Steelers. Case 2: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Bengals beat the Jets, and Raiders beat the Ravens, and Patriots beat the Texans, and Dolphins beat the Steelers. Case 3: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Chiefs beat the Broncos, and Raiders beat the Ravens, and Patriots beat the Texans, and Dolphins beat the Steelers. Case 4: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Bengals beat the Jets, and Chiefs beat the Broncos, and Raiders beat the Ravens, and Patriots beat the Texans. Case 5: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Bengals beat the Jets, and Chiefs beat the Broncos, and Raiders beat the Ravens, and Dolphins beat the Steelers. Believe it or not, the Jaguars could get the five seed if this happens: Jaguars beat the Browns, and Bengals beat the Jets, and Chiefs beat the Broncos, and Raiders beat the Ravens, and Patriots beat the Texans, and Dolphins beat the Steelers.

Pretty unlikely at this point, but statistically a possibility.

So the first week of the playoffs is out of the way. What I learned:

1. The Baltimore Ravens look nasty. Particularly, their defense. They fucking DOMINATED the Patriots (much to my amusement). Tom Brady looked like a scared rookie playing his first playoff game. Bad throws, no protection, stupid decisions.. it was great. The only problem is, the Ravens come into Indy on Saturday to look to continue their road dominance. I don't think they get it, but they will definitely give the Colts a tough time. Indy wins 27 - 21

2. The Arizona Cardinals are fun to watch. I don't care if they aren't the best team in the league, they step up when they have to. Kurt Warner's statline: 29/33 379 yds 5 TDs. That's incredible. He had more touchdowns than he did incompletions. This old man can still play. AZ vs. NO will be another shoot out and I think the Cards take this game.

3. Poor Philly. Dallas beat them 3 times this year. The Eagles have the potential to represent the NFC in the Superbowl every single year, yet it somehow never works out. You guys need a shake-up over there, Titus.

4. The Jets are riding high with their recent luck getting into the Playoffs and then winning on the road @ Cincy. Their luck stops next week when they face the Chargers. Colts/Chargers AFC champ game. Should be a good game.

Superbowl prediction:
Colts vs Vikings - Colts win 30-17

I'm not even sure went wrong, or what is wrong with your team, but you are right something is going to have to be done in the offseason if you guys are going to want to continue to be a legitimate playoff contender.

As for the Jags, it was announced yesterday that Jack Del Rio will remain the coach atleast for the next season, which is great IMO. He's done a wonderful job with this team, and this past season may have been his best with so many rookies on the squad.

I can't wait for Saturday to get here, the Indy/Baltimore game should be fun to watch. Man, I love the playoffs.

Great game by the Jets, I actually was growing somewhat bored of the blowouts around the rest of the league.

The championship games are setting up to be very fun to watch.

I would like to say Indy will get upset, but I don't think that will become reality. Indy - 31 Jets- 17. As for Who dat and Minnesota, it's a toss up. Two powerful offenses and defenses that make good plays, while at the same time allowing big plays. New Orleans - 24 / Vikings - 21, i'm thinking the defenses will show up.

This is the typing and post of an extremely jealous man:

Thanatos, I'm truely and whole-heartedly jealous of you and your football team. The only thing I as an Eagles fan have been able to hold on to over my entire life, but most recently the last 11 years, has been the fact that we've made it to the playoffs 9 years, been to the Conference Champsionship game 5 times, and got to the Super Bowl once. Philly has been putting out good, competitive teams for over a decade now, but we still haven't acheived the ultimate goal. We don't have a Super Bowl ring.... I haven't been able to cheer out of sheer bliss and have the ultimate feeling every fan in the world wants to feel... I'm empty inside on that aspect.

Now, I'm looking at you as a Colts fan, and what the Colts have done over that same timeframe. Not only have they been the benchmark of consistency, much more so than even the Eagles, but you've gotten to the Super Bowl and won that game. You've felt that rush, that ultimate feeling I'm dieing to feel. And again, you've had an amazing regular season, and you are in the big dance for the 2nd time, and I'm hoping winning for the 2nd time too. I'll say it again - I'm truely and whole-heartedly jealous of you and your football team.

I hope my Eagles can eventually figure it out and give me a title before I die. I have a long ways to go until I die, hopefully, but I'd rather have it sooner than later.. I'm 28, and have only sniffed it once, but didn't get it... I'll take another whiff and be happy, but not truely happy until I can breath in the air of a champion.

Good luck. Lets go Colts!

D3V
2010-01-25, 09:16 AM
LMFAO at Brett FAV-re. I couldn't believe he let that ball go, I seriously could not believe it. They could've probably managed a 56-yard field goal, it's not impossible. Instead they let it slip out of their hands. Then again, it's not entirely his fault, I think the Vikes gave up 6 fumbles? That's ridiculous, especially in a NFC Championship game.

Yeah, I prolly could've won some money if I woulda placed some bets.

I'm truely and whole-heartedly jealous of you and your football team. I honestly can say I feel the same way. As a Jaguars fan, It's always been about the AFC South obviously, and when that talk happens, Peyton Manning and the Colts are almost always immediately the first thing mentioned. Hats off to them this season and the last decade, they've been nothing short of winners. As hard as it is to say, they deserve the respect. Though, once Peyton is gone, that's a whole new story.

I hope my Eagles can eventually figure it out and give me a title before I die. I guess just be thankful you aren't a Detroit fan. They had Barry Sanders and couldn't even make it to the big game, rofl@them.

Any superbowl predictions? It's almost impossible to call. I still haven't even thought about it too much. You've got to take a lot of things into consideration. The Superbowl is going to be in 'South Florida', which I feel will be more of a home game for New Orleans than it would be Indy.

And with that;

Brings a tear to my eye, Titus. :)

Yeah man I truly do feel grateful that I get to watch Peyton Manning and the Colts every week rather than the Rams or Lions. Honestly, if we win this Superbowl I can't see how this decade won't go down in history as one of the greatest decades for any NFL team ever. I'm so glad Peyton has stuck around and dedicated his time and health to this football organization. He will retire as an Indianapolis Colt. We aren't flashy, we aren't loud, we just go out there and take care of business. How many times did you see Rex Ryan behind a podium this week talking about how great his football team is and how hard it will be to beat them? Now how many times did you see Jim Caldwell do the same thing? We keep quiet and win.

These two weeks are going to suck so much ass. The media coverage coming into this game is plain annoying, IMO. Every story gets talked about to death and it makes me more nervous and anxious as the days go on. I cannot wait for our guys to get their 2nd Superbowl ring. Sorry, Brees and the Saints, you've played great this year but your time is yet to come.

I'm not a fan of your "football", but I have to say that I was quite impressed by Tracy Porter's 74-yard touchdown. It's akin to a defender in the real Football nicking a pass, sprinting the entire length of the pitch, skirting the defenders and keeper of the other team, and walking the ball into an open net. Obviously more skill is needed in the latter, but the former was still nice to watch.

Interesting how Thanatos was nearly on the money with the final score (albeit having it backwards).

Sorry Thanatos, I was pulling for your team... I didn't really even like the game, it was pretty boring...

31-24 Saints over the Colts if the Saints score first. 27-21 Colts over the Saints if the Colts score first.

I though it was a great game. Indy pulls out the early 10-0 nothing lead. New Orleans gets some momentum going after that and it never stopped. The onside kick was absolutely crucial, if Indy would've recovered that it would have been game over for them. If Indy would've scored that TD and Reggie Wayne wouldn't have dropped that touchdown late in the 4th my points prediction would've been absolutely correct.

Great job New Orleans, I wouldn't mind being in the french quarter right now while they're celebrating. Fat Tuesday is tomorrow they're gonna have to close the whole damn city.

Dear Thanatos,

Do not commit suicide.

Sincerely,
Your friend Grav

Too late.

Fuck Hank Baskett. No wonder the Eagles cut you and rookies are favored over you in the rotation. How a wide receiver cannot grasp and recover the football is beyond me. GTFO of Indianapolis.

The fact that it bounced off of him and went back towards the Saints was completely rofl-able. I wish I could find it, because on that play I saw an Indy player punching one of the Saints in the head in the pile, and a flag was not thrown which I thought was BS.

at about :24 you can see #43 literally punching the guy in the face.

But what really sealed the deal for the Saints

If #74 wasn't a whale, he might have had a chance of catching Porter.

Look at him jiggle!
