On Jun 30, Blizzard trademarked the word "Cataclysm." (http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=77769006)
What does it mean? Below is taken from Wowwiki:
"The Great Sundering, also known as simply the Sundering or the Cataclysm,WRPG 185, 211 (http://www.wowwiki.com/WoWWiki:Book_citation_index#WRPG) was a world event which reshaped Azeroth (http://www.wowwiki.com/Azeroth_%28world%29)War of the Ancients (http://www.wowwiki.com/War_of_the_Ancients). This event was triggered due to the Well of Eternity (http://www.wowwiki.com/Well_of_Eternity) being destroyed. approximately 10,000 years ago at the end of the Prior to the Sundering, there was only one continent on Azeroth (http://www.wowwiki.com/Azeroth), referred to as Kalimdor. In the catastrophic explosion, eighty percent of the land mass was destroyed,W3Man #? (http://www.wowwiki.com/WoWWiki:Book_citation_index#W3Man) leaving behind the major continents and scattered islands that are known today: Northrend (http://www.wowwiki.com/Northrend), Kezan (http://www.wowwiki.com/Kezan), the Eastern Kingdoms (http://www.wowwiki.com/Eastern_Kingdoms), and the remnant still referred to as Kalimdor (http://www.wowwiki.com/Kalimdor).
The site of the Well of Eternity became a swirling vortex of power known as the Maelstrom (http://www.wowwiki.com/Maelstrom)."
I found out through WoW.com, so read more here (http://www.wow.com/2009/07/01/blizzard-files-trademark-for-cataclysm/).
